at the moment ive got the jcb song on, and im thinking whether a 5 year old has covered this song?

however the youngest person to reach the chart was a 3 year old called microbe (i think)

what are the other young chart stars?

and at the other end what are the oldest charting acts in history? there must be older people (not dead people) than Sir Tom Jones and the Rolling Stones

You're quite right about Microbe although he was actually 4 at the time of the hit Groovy Baby which was #29 in 1969.

Actually it was sung by female session singers but with Microbe on the interuptions saying Groovy Baby, I'm A Good Boy etc.

His voice was used on the former Radio 1 DJ Dave Cash's afternoon program. Dave Cash was born in the UK but brought up in Canada. He was a DJ on the former Pirate Radio Station - Radio London.

As for the oldest. I think that could possibly be Louis Armstong who was 67 when he hit #1 with What A Wonderful World back in 1968.

Had he still have been alive when his single We Have All The Time In The World hit #3 in 1994 he would have been 93.

Clive Dunn was pretty ancient when he did "Grandad"....

Sorry it was just that he was made up to look old as he did in Dad's Army.

When Grandad was #1 in 1971 he was actually only 50.

He's now 85 and in happy retirement in Portugal.

Legendary Harmonica player Larry Adler was 80 when he had a #27 (1994) hit "The Man I Love" with Kate Bush.

Wow! Never knew that (and neither did www.everyhit.com)!

don't think that could be correct, as if he was 40 in 1971 then add 35 that makes only 75........

so if he really is 85 then he must have been 50 in 1971 ;)

the singers over 50 who have topped the charts i think are:

66 Louis Armstrong....What a wonderful World

59 Cliff Richard....Millennium prayer

57 Gene Pitney...Somethings gotten hold of my heart(with Marc Almond)

55 Elton John....Sorry seems to be the hardest word (with Blue)

52 Cher...Believe

51 Frank Sinatra...Something Stupid (with Nancy)

51 Telly Savalas...If

50 Clive Dunn....Grandad

50 Charles Aznavour....She

Shirley Bassey

Eartha Kitt

Debbie Harry

Diana Ross

Etta James

Honor Blackman

Tina Turner

Nancy Sinatra

From previous thread, all following female's charted when over 50...there is more also.

Madonna's in her late 40s...quite surprising she was something like 26 when she did 'Holiday'!

Shirley Bassey

Eartha Kitt

Debbie Harry

Diana Ross

Etta James

Honor Blackman

Tina Turner

Nancy Sinatra
