The Killers have commissioned British painter Paul Normansell to create the cover art for their forthcoming third album. Normanshell is mostly know for his paint-dotted creations that he produced for David Bowie, Kate Moss and Agyness Deyn.

The painter tells NME magazine that he recently received a phone call from the band's manager to see if he'd be interested. "I had one of my painting in GQ magazine and the band saw that," he tells NME. "Their manager got in touch with me (. . .) Then the band called me at home one night. I thought it was a hoax at first, but it's snowballed from there. I've spoken to Brandon a few times about what he wants. He's a really nice guy."

There's no release date set for the group's new album. Brandon and the guys have gone into the studio in Las Vegas together with producer Stuart Price in June and are still recording tracks. In the next 7 weeks, the group will take a break from recording to hit the festival circuit in Europe and the U.S. to play some shows. Possibly, they will try out a couple of new tunes. Much-rumored first single title is "Tidal Wave." Other non-confirmed album tracks include "Emerald City," "Neon Tiger" and "Metropolis."

The group will be starting their summer tour this week at the Highline Ballroom in New York for a fan-only show.

Finally! This is the moment many of you have been waiting for.

The Killers premiered two brand-new songs at a fan-only showcase that they performed at the Highline Ballroom in New York City this week. The first new track they played was "Spaceman" and the second is titled "Neon Tiger," which invokes images of Las Vegas garish and glitz.

Check out a fan video of "Spaceman," which is the result of one of the first studio collaborations between the Las Vegas quartet and Stuart Price. This video is not a high-quality recording, but you can get a pretty good feel of the track and the group's new musical direction. It definitely sounds like a track that is positioned right on the intersection of "Hot Fuss" and "Sam's Town," combining Brandon's new wavy synths and Mark Stoermer melodic bass groove with Dave Keuning's anthemic rock riffing.

Flowers once again gets creative with his lyrics, singing about (what appears) an alien abduction to convey his feelings about freedom and understanding:

""It started with a low life. Next thing I knew they ripped me from my bed. And then they took my blood type. Left a strange impression in my head (. . .) I don't wanna be kept. I don't wanna be caged. I don't wanna be damned. I don't wanna be broke. I don't wanna be saved. Give me rolling hills so tonite can be the night so I can stand upon a thousand thrills. Cut me some slack I don't wanna go back. I want new day in age."

"Spaceman" is very promising tastemaker for new Killers material. I can't wait to hear more.

The title of the album is apparently "Day And Age" but it's yet to be comfirmed yet.

I really can't wait to see them live now either. I'm hoping they play maybe 2/3 new songs.

It's amazing!!! I'm anticipating this album a lot!!!!

The Killers Aim For Greatness On Third Album

August 12, 2008

The Killers

The Killers plan to release their third studio album this November and singer Brandon Flowers says that he wrote about 30 new songs for the record. "Everything is at stake on this album," Flowers tells Rolling Stone. "Everything. I live through these songs. People make such a big deal about the second album: ‘Do or die.’ But I feel like the pressure to produce something great will always be there. It’s our job, after all."

The new album, reportedly titled Day And Age, was produced by Stuart Price, who has most notably worked with Madonna. "This record is stripped down in a lot of ways," addss bassist Mark Stoermer. "Each instrument has its place, and things aren’t clouding anything up. We’re not trying to be bombastic. It’s our most poppy record but also our most experimental."

Other new tunes slated for the record include the tentatively titled "Vibration" (described by Stoermer as "a fun dance track") and the seven minute "Goodnight, Travel Well."

The band took some critical hits for their second record, Sam's Town (partly due to Flowers hyping up the album in the press before its release), but the singer says he can handle it. "We learned that you can’t please everyone," Flowers told Rolling Stone. "But we’ve got faith in what we do, faith in our fans and faith in the soon-to-be-converted."

The Killers will play a handful of European festival dates in the second half of August.

Cool! Thanks ^_^

Look at Brandon´s gorgeous words  :P I think there´s more about it on this article

Singer Brandon Flowers says that everything is at stake on the Killers forthcoming third album, 'Day and Age'.

“I live through these songs. People make such a big deal about the second album: ‘Do or die.’ But I feel like the pressure to produce something great will always be there,” he said.

“It’s our job, after all.”

The Killers previewed two songs of the album, 'Spaceman' and 'Neon Tiger', at a recent show in New York.

Although both songs demonstrate their trademark stadium ambition, bassist Mark Stoermer told Rolling Stone that the overall album is “stripped down in a lot of ways.”

“Each instrument has its place, and things aren’t clouding anything up. We’re not trying to be bombastic. It’s our most poppy record but also our most experimental,” he said.

Two more songs expected to feature on the album are currently entitled 'Vibration' and 'Goodnight, Travel Well', he said.

Flowers also told the magazine that the band “learned that you can't please everyone” following the release of their last album 'Sam's Town'.

“But we’ve got faith in what we do, faith in our fans and faith in the soon-to-be-converted,” he added.

:o Spaceman sounds amazing  And Brandon's voice has improved dramatically (for the better) too!

I'm impressed and even more proud to be a Killers fan. I hope the album as a whole is as good as this new song they're presenting to us!

In a BBC television interview last night, Brandon Flowers finally spilled the big news. The Killers much-anticipated new album will be released in November. Flowers and drummer Ronni Vannucci talked to the BBC live from the Reading music festival before their headlining gig last night.

According to BBC writer Julian Marshall, the group's show turned out to be a gliterry affair. "The Killers have closed the second night at Reading Festival with a set which combined their biggest hits, a cover version and a brand new song," he writes. "The Las Vegas rockers played new track' Spaceman' from their next album and added glamorous touches to their show. While they played 'When You Were Young' a fountain of sparks fell from the top of the stage. And lead singer Brandon Flowers performed some of the set in a sparkling turquoise jacket."

Btw, here's the live version of a second track from the new album, "Neon Tiger":

Thanks for that update Mayte! Amazing, the album is out in November :cheer:
