August 6, 200816 yr Pretty sure Britney had heaps of promo - on magazine covers etc. Hope sales go up during the tour!
August 6, 200816 yr Maybe Britney was on magazines, but still, they wouldn't have had anything to do with Blackout. It's official, Hard Candy is a flop in the USA!
August 7, 200816 yr I wouldn't say the album's a flop! Thats crazy! Its still selling, ok in few numbers but surely once the tour hits America and 'Miles Away' is served to radio and radio friendly it is, i'm quite certain the album will pick up again and hopefully sell up to maybe 1.5 million. In this day n' age that is certainly NOT a flop!!
August 7, 200816 yr Oh FFS. Britney's comeback album was hugely hyped (moreso than Hard Candy) and had two hit singles released from it (as opposed to Madonna's just one hit in the US). Also it's high sales for those positions were due to christmas, it probably would have sold little more than 500k in the US otherwise. Not that I like Hard Candy, but please...
August 7, 200816 yr Considering Britney's album was released in the high sales season it's not surprising it has higher sales at this stage. But lets be honest. Britney should be at the peak of her career selling twice as much as she is. Madonna is where she ought to be in regards to sales and really at this stage in her career to be able to still pull out a number 1 album is amazing. Edited August 7, 200816 yr by jules25
August 7, 200816 yr True, when Madonna was Britney's age, she was selling bucketloads of records and Britney can't even manage a million and is being outsold by a woman twice her age :)
August 14, 200816 yr Oh FFS. So what that Madonna has had only one hit and Britney had two? They both released two singles, it's just that Madonna can't get a hit with Give It To Me. To call Hard Candy anything less than a flop, especially given how heavily it was designed for and marketed to the US market in particular, is ridiculous. It's sold half of what Confessions did when you take the sales slide of the US market into account, and that album was Euro-friendly, US-unfriendly dance.

Yes, Madonna can only get one hit from her album (compared to Britney's two) and she'll still outsell Britney's majorly hyped comeback album which had TWO hits from it. That is the point I was making...
