'Something Is Not Right With Me' [From ThisIsFakeDIY]

The second teaser for Cold War Kids' second long-player, 'Loyalty To Loyalty' - after the minute-long clip posted on YouTube earlier this month, 'Something Is Not Right With Me' shows the band moving on from the slightly darker introspection of 'Robbers & Cowards', and making full use of a dominant bassline to both convey their message and create an unlikely dancefloor anthem.

 

Vocalist Nathan Willett might be suffering from a mystery affliction, but his 'something wrong' doesn't seem to bother the protagonist too much, as the stomping drums, sparse guitars that bass and a sprinkle of piano magic pummel through a track so massive it belies its sub-three-minute existence, and almost makes you want to join in with his strangely joyous misery.

 

'Loyalty To Loyalty' just became one of the most exciting new releases 2008 is going to offer.

Hmmm, I'm not sure on this tbh, it VERY short and a completely different sound to 'Robbers & Cowards'. And the intro bit randomly reminds me of Mika 'Big Girl'. :lol: It is growing on me though, and hopefully the album will be very good. Also, check out the other song that has leaked 'The Soloist In The Living Room'. :o

I'm quite liking it on first listen, but it's certainly no "We Used To Vacation" is it? :(

I'm going to see them tonight at the Bloomsbury Ballroom and am SO excited - is anyone else going to the show? I think there might still be a few tickets left for sale at the door :)
