Posted August 16, 200816 yr No discussion? Arsenal 1-0 West Brom Bolton 3-1 Stoke Everton 2-3 Blackburn Hull 2-1 Fulham  Middlesbrough 2-1 Tottenham Sunderland v Liverpool West Ham 2-1 Wigan So much last minute activity ;o
August 16, 200816 yr Wahey! Tbh I expected us to beat Fulham at home, it sounded like we gave a pretty good peformance as well. :o Edited August 16, 200816 yr by Jonny
August 16, 200816 yr Sunderland 0-1 Liverpool We need to sort out being so poor near the beginning of the season. Dunno whether it's a fitness thing or what, but Liverpool didn't look brilliant today and were lucky to get 3 points. But, as they always say, that's the sign of a good side. Full credit to Sunderland though, they were really good, better side over the 90 minutes, but just got beat by that extra bit of class at the end with Torres.
August 16, 200816 yr Liverpool were very very poor (like they were against Standard Liege), but in a way it is un-Liverpool like of them to get outplayed today & come away with 3 points, as they've gained a reputation over the past decade for outplaying sides but not matching that with the points at the end of the match.

Exactly. Is a good sign. Today was the sort of game that Mascherano would have loved. There were lots of positives to take from the game as well as negatives. Main thing is the SoL is a tough ground to go to, and even more tough now that they've shortened the pitch!!! Will be a hard ground to go to and get 3 points this season imo, especially for the big sides.
August 16, 200816 yr Anyway surely this is the mine headline/talking point from this weekend's Football? :D sCM0tP19_pQ Burnley v Ipswich - match delayed = reason why!
August 17, 200816 yr So far today: Aston Villa 4-2 Man City Chelsea 4-0 Portsmouth f*** you Hughes. :D
August 17, 200816 yr Chelsea look too good. 1-1 in the Man Utd game currently... 2 points dropped if the results stays the same for Man Utd imo.
August 17, 200816 yr *waits for This Charming Man to have a dig a Craig and Spurs* Come on Boro! Come on Boro! :cheer:
August 17, 200816 yr I knew all along Spurs weren't gonna do anything this season, i'll let CT realise that himself and United, well, last season says it all
August 17, 200816 yr But Chelsea will be much stronger this year. It's most definitely two points dropped, and with now three away games to Portsmouth, Liverpool and Chelsea as well as a lost week due to the Super Cup it could be a lot of ground to catch up.
August 17, 200816 yr Chelsea looked really good today, gotta say I don't think any team has a chance of beating them this year, unless they got loads of injuries and suspensions like this year. Pretty much all of their squad is at their peak. Man Utd have got some really tough games like RFC just said, Pompey, Liverpool and Chelsea away will me tough games to get 3 points at, especially as Man Utd have quite a few first teamers missing.
August 17, 200816 yr We're signing 2 players, Berbatov and another If you're writing us off after one game, you're very naive people We'll be champions, come May, mark my words.
August 17, 200816 yr I'm not writing you off after one game. I've been tipping Chelsea to regain the Championship since they signed Deco and Bosingwa. I can't see past them at all, not even with Berbatov, A. Nother, the continued improvement of Nani and Anderson and the return of club captain.

I can't see past them at all, not even with Berbatov, A. Nother, the continued improvement of Nani and Anderson and the return of club captain. Exactly the way I think too. Even with Berbatov I don't think Man Utd would be able to match Chelsea. Chelsea are just way too strong this year, and baring any major injuries they should in theory walk the league. I don't think that'll be the case, but there's no wonder the bookies have made Chelsea the new favourites after today. Newcastle at home are the sort of games that the Top 4 teams should be winning, anything less than 3 points is bad.
August 17, 200816 yr Put O'Shea in Chelsea's team, see how badly they do Reading 0-0 people are like goldfish round here
August 17, 200816 yr Put O'Shea in Chelsea's team, see how badly they do Reading 0-0 people are like goldfish round here Doesn't matter though really. Chelsea don't have O'Shea. Chelsea have a much better squad than anyone in the Premier League, and they totally ripped Portsmouth to pieces today... not many teams will get a point at Stamford Bridge, let alone 3. Newcastle weren't even at full strength today either. Out of the Top 4 today, your fixture list is the 2nd worst after Arsenal's too, and the fixture list does count a lot tbh.
August 17, 200816 yr Hmmm, I seem to recalll mentioning your bad start to Nicky so you're completely wrong there. As for your O'Shea point, what c**p. Let's take Chelsea's situation last year and apply it to Man Utd. Unrest between manager and owner which lead to the manager being sacked and someone who wasn't a popular choice brought in taking an age to win over the fans, Cech, Terry, Carvalho, Essien, Lampard, Ballack and Drogba all out of first team action for what could be considered to be lengthy periods. Yet despite all this they came second to you in the League by only two points (and I'm sure it would've been just goal difference if they could've actually won the league on the final day) and on penalities on the Champions League. They now have a new, more proven manager who's a popular choice with both players and fans, they currently have as good a full squad with only Drogba injured and Kalou on Olympic duty, they've sold no first team players apart from an ageing and past it Makelele and have signed Deco and Bosingwa, finally someone of quality to play at right back which has definitely been their weakest area for a while. Compare this to Man Utd who have their star player from the last two campaigns out for the first month and have lost (and as far as I'm aware yet to replace) the extremelly influential Carlos Quieroz (remember how much worse you got last time he left leaving you without a number two?) and have yet to make any improvement to the squad. I cannot see past Chelsea at all.
August 17, 200816 yr We don't have a c**k of a chairman who's bought a team with NO history, we're Manchester United our strongest 11 >>>> Anyone's in the world, simple as, last season shows this
