Dave told us that Biffy Clyro would do well, when he compiled the Fresh Hits Chart, at the beginning of August. As he did with Bloc Party (although I think he forgot to include the pre-orders, of that one, and also Solange last Monday. So, next Monday it will be Eric Prydz, Dave already has that up the top 20, on the Fresh Hits Chart. Last week we had 9 in the top 10, 18 in the 20, and 26 in the top 30...on the albums front. On the singles we had 8 in the top 10, 18 in the 20, 26 in the 30, 36 in the 40, and 47 in the top 50. Pretty good. The downloads of Keane, and the Script knock us out a tad, but it was ok. Back in August 1989, Radio Luxembourg and Shaun Tilley broadcasted Next Week`s Top 20, on Monday at 8pm. It look like this... 01 01 SWING THE MOOD - JIVE BUNNY 02 04 POISON - ALICE COOPER 03 10 RIDE ON TIME - BLACK BOX 04 NE I JUST DON`T HAVE THE HEART - CLIFF RICHARD 05 05 TOY SOLDIERS - MARTIKA 06 06 FRENCH KISS - LIL` LOUIS 07 11 HEY DJ I CAN`T DANCE TO THAT MUSIC YOU`RE PLAYING - BEATMASTERS/BETTY BOO 08 02 LOSING MY MIND - LIZA MINELLI 09 NE THE INVISIBLE MAN - QUEEN 10 03 BLAME IT ON THE BOOGIE - BIG FUN 11 16 THIS IS THE RIGHT TIME - LISA STANSFIELD 12 08 I WOULDN`T CHANGE A THING - KYLIE MINOGUE 13 07 YOU`RE HISTORY - SHAKESPEARS SISTER 14 NE WARNING - ADEVA 15 NE NUMERO UNO - STARLIGHT 16 17 KISSES ON THE WIND - NENEH CHERRY 17 09 DO THE RIGHT THING - REDHEAD KINGPIN 18 NE I NEED YOUR LOVIN` - ALISON WILLIAMS 19 NE LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME - BON JOVI 20 NE FRIENDS - JODY WATLEY In 1989, Radio Luxembourg got 18 in the top 20..They missed with JODY WATLEY..she stalled at 21 on Radio 1. They were a bit behind at Luxembourg, and missed TEARS FOR FEARS - SOWING THE SEEDS OF LOVE..which smashed the top ten, at 9 on Radio 1. How will we compare to Sunday`s Charts, though? Look out for the mids, all week with Martin (Tues-Fri). We reckon 5 new in the top 40, 22 down, 8 up, and 5 non-movers! We end today with the top pre-orders... 01 DADDY`S GONE - GLAS VEGAS 25th Aug 02 ALL I WANNA DO - PAUL WELLER 25th Aug 03 PJANOO - ERIC PRYDZ 1st Sept 04 STEPPING STONE - DUFFY 1st Sept 05 BABY LET`S PLAY HOUSE - ELVIS 8th Sept 06 SUMMERTIME - NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK 1st Sept 07 JEALOUS MINDS - YOU ME AT SIX 29th Sept 08 ONE MORE CHANCE - WILL I. August 18, 200816 yr It was NCQ on the chart published yesterday. It had been in the top 20 of the iTunes chart for 2 days (Friday and Saturday) so should have sold enough to chart but it isn't inside the top 200.

August 18, 200816 yr it will be ineligible because it's available as part of a pre-order album pack like Coldplay's Viva La Vida was initially until the album comes out it should be NCQ
August 18, 200816 yr it will be ineligible because it's available as part of a pre-order album pack like Coldplay's Viva La Vida was initially until the album comes out it should be NCQthe album isn't being released for another 7 weeks, so that's quite a lengthy period of time for the song to be NCQ. Apparently it is going to be part of a double A side single so Oasis will have to ensure the first named track is the other track of the double a side or else the single will chart on physical sales only.

Would that be similar to the Double A, of Leona Lewis early on in the year?
August 18, 200816 yr Jumping in front of Trevs. The fore-mentioned Oasis track, would have been in at 48 yesterday, if it were eligiable. All in all, there isn`t much point going on about the rules, of OCC that much. The singles chart itself pretty much, got killed off in 2006. The chart is now a Song chart, with the same old stuff, hanging in for weeks. Boring Radio station playlists, make it worse by still playing the likes of "Apologise", and One Republic for one! Still on Independant Radio`s playlists, all over Britain. What a load of nonsense those playlists are! Does Mr Joe Public, actually take that much notice, of a Radio Playlist? No, of course not! If they did the Song Chart, would be the same as the Radio Airplay Chart, and it ain`t nothing like it. Really it`s like going back in time, to the 40s, and 50s, when Sheet Music charts were all about popular songs, and not Singles. If Radio Stations were intune with their listeners, they would be playing the stuff on the pre-order charts more.
August 18, 200816 yr Would that be similar to the Double A, of Leona Lewis early on in the year?yup, in that the first named track is the track that combines its sales with the physical release. The other track charts on its own download sales only.
August 18, 200816 yr Incidentally, Billboard have a more liberal policy with regards to downloads which are used as enticements to pre-order the album - the sales are eligible for the Hot 100 whereas the OCC treat the tracks as a freebie since the cost of the track is deducted from the cost of buying the bundled download album when it is released. Viva La Vida was allowed to chart on the Hot 100 prior to the release of the album but not so on the UK chart, or the Irish or Australian charts which have the same rules on this as the UK.
