I've got a feeling that this could end up like that 2001 version of What's Going On - an awful song only made popular by its charity status (in that case, Aids relief and 9/11 - the latter one was later added, with the single having been recorded, I believe, the Saturday before the attacks).

It'll either be the biggest hit of the year or a complete flop.

I hope it's the first one personally, and cant wait to hear it.

I wonder if they recorded together or sang it seperately?

I think this will do well. The show is airing on 3 major networks in America simultaneously which is huge promo. The Annie Lennox song didn't have that. I just hope the vocals are shared out and it doesn't sound like a mess.

To many artists on one song.. it had better be a long song, cant imagine them all fitting on.

Yeah and ughh at miley cyrus.

Oh dear, will we ever have a year without at least one charity single? Band Aid was revolutionary, the early Comic Relief ones were funny, since then they've been rubbish.

Anything to get Katy Perry off number 1 though.

This is really good.
What a load of old tripe. What a LET DOWN from Mariah though. You'd think she would want to show of more a bit wouldn't you?
I really like it. :) Too many people though so people like Natasha were hardly in it at all.
Fergie sings too much and Natasha has about 3 solo words to herself. Too many people involved.
Well that is unexpectedly brilliant! :D They could cut it down to just Beyonce, Rihanna, Fergie, Leona, Sheryl and Mary probably, but it's fabulous anyhow.

I'm sure Mariah would get just as much stick, if not more, if she was trying to dominate the song and outperform all of the other artists on the song. -_-

I think it's really good how it is. I'd have liked to see Mariah or Natasha singing Fergie's first part to share it out a bit more, but I'm happy with it now. I didn't think it'd be as good or catchy as it is.

Definitely. I didn't think it would be as contemporary as this either.

Mariah has her whistles and one big note but she's pretty restrained which is good. :)

I can only recognise Beyonce's voice on this, it's pleasant enough and it sounds like one of those songs that they get

all the contestants to sing together, on the American Idol show.

The unprecedented gathering features vocals from Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood. The tune is being produced by the powerhouse duo of Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and Antonio "L.A." Reid, who are working together for the first time in nearly 20 years.

The song will be available for purchase exclusively on iTunes on September 2 and will get its TV premiere on September 5 during the live "Just Stand Up" special, which will air simultaneously and commercial-free on CBS, ABC and NBC. According to a press release announcing the project, the song was conceived by Reid, the chairman of the Island Def Jam Music Group, after a meeting with the women behind the Stand Up to Cancer campaign.

clicky

If released on i-tunes in UK I think this will be mega. I don't really like any of these acts but this song will deffo be mega

If it keeps Will Yawn from #1, then I'm all for it. :)

This is quite good. I hope it gets released in the UK.

I can't hear Natasha at all though, which bit does she sing?

<i>I didnt hear some of them at all.

A good tune but would have been better with less people.
