May 6, 200916 yr He is indeed. It's a shame though, another poor ref performance robbing another all English final.
May 6, 200916 yr Oh and Barcelona are the most overrated team. I hate Man Utd but I hope they absolutely stuff em in the final!
May 6, 200916 yr If anyone wanted proof that Football is corrupt at the highest level. Than this match was it. If that ref was not on the take or instructed by UEFA to fix a Barcelona victory. Then that was the most incompetent 90 minutes of refereeing I have witnessed at this high level. Chelsea had three stonewall penalties (two clear second half handballs in the penalty box & that Alves foul on Malouda clearly inside the box turned down when the ref was tramlining the penalty box for an incident that happened nearly two metres in front of him inside the box, yet he gave a free kick to Chelsea outside the box. Incredible. Truly incredible. The technology is there to sort out no brain decisions that change results in the richest sport in the world; yet it is not used. And I'm saying that as a neutral (tonight) who wanted Barcelona to win.
May 6, 200916 yr Totally undeserved draw for Barca and Chelsea should have had at least 3 penalties and the ref makes Howard Webb seem competent But I am delighted with the result :cheer: :cheer: Chelsea are a horrible little pikey team who have bought success and have cheated and dived for years so in a way its karma, do I feel sorry for their vile fans who go to WHL and make hissing sounds and do same at Stamford Bridge ? do I heck ;) Man Utd v Barcelona final is good, even though Utd will kill them based on tonight Edited May 6, 200916 yr by B.A Baracus
May 6, 200916 yr Gotta admit, the ref was absolutely appauling. Speaks mass volume about refereeing with the amount of decisions he got wrong tonight. Just stupid really. Saying that i'm glad Barca are in the final and seeing the Chelsea players cry again. @D Drogba just completely lost it at the end. He really is a loose cannon. Barcelona were not great tonight, but it was laughable when Chelsea were playing with 10 men in their own half at time. But the way to stop Barca playing is how Hiddink countered them. I don't think Fergie will do the same personally. Interesting final though. Should be better than the bore fest it looked like it would be.
May 6, 200916 yr Should be a good final then, Barcelona won't change the play they play I wouldn't have thought, so it'll be interesting to see what United do.

But with Barca's injuries in defence & suspensions I fully expect Manchester United to massacre them in the Final 4-0. But don't let anyone tell me that match was not fixed, because that would be insulting my intelligence. That was just like watching the Sopranos or Godfather with the lead roll played by a certain Frenchman M Platini passing instructions to the referee to "kill them". So my dislike for Manchester United is completely overruled by my hatred for the idiot in charge of UEFA who for the past two years has spoke of his dislike of Premiership football. Therefore "I would love it, absolutely love it" if Manchester United kill Barcelona 8-0 in the Final to see Platini's face. Because Barcelona are completely overrated IMHO.
May 6, 200916 yr If Barcelona have their first XI all fit, and Fergie decides to play against them then I can't see anything other than a Barca victory. Depends what team Fergie plays with. He'll have a few hard choices to make as the Barca team picks itself. I could see Fergie playing 4-5-1 or 4-3-3. Got a feeling the latter may be more likely.

He'll have a few hard choices to make as the Barca team picks itself. Well they aren't great in defence anyway and will be missing Abidal and Alves through suspension & Marques and Milito through injury...
May 6, 200916 yr Barca will have Abidal & Alves missing for a start. Based on tonights performance I have full confidence United will win, Barca were incredibly sloppy at the back and Ronaldo will tear any of their back four to part, whether he is starting on the left, right or centre. Mr Messi can't seem to perform against the English teams either. It's actually baffling me that Barca are favourites to win this!
May 6, 200916 yr If Barcelona have their first XI all fit, and Fergie decides to play against them then I can't see anything other than a Barca victory. Absolutely no chance. Or don't you remember how easily Liverpool destroyed Real Madrid this season in the ECL as an example. Whilst in 2007-8 Manchester Utd knocked out Barca & 2006-7 Liverpool knocked out Barca. Face facts with a decent & more importantly FAIR UNBIASED referee I'd expect any of the Premiership Big Four to defeat Barca. But it would be typical of Manchester United to lose a match most English neutral would want them to win.

Yeah I have to admit that it did look a bit dodgy there were some strange decisions but for any fix to have taken place Cech would have to have been in on it as he let in Iniesta's goal and also the sending off of Abidal was bizarre to say the least I thought I think it was just this guy has been taking coaching sesssions off Howard Webb as opposed to any malpractice but yeah something is strange about some of those penalties Final prediction - Utd 3 Barca 0
May 6, 200916 yr Well they aren't great in defence anyway and will be missing Abidal and Alves through suspension & Marques and Milito through injury... They are not great in defence that's true and its definitely their weakness but their players ability to get the ball back is the best i've seen anywhere imo. Good grit and determination and it forces errors from the back as the play it back to their keeper and the furthest Barca player forward anticipates this. Alves is a big blow. I thought he was pretty $h!t against Chelsea but he's a phenomenal attacking right back. I've no idea who their back-up full backs are but i'd expect them to be less adventerous that Abidal and Alves. Midfield will be the key battl. If Man Utd play with Carrick, Anderson and Schloes in the centre then its dangerous imo. Xavi and Iniesta tore the England midfiel to pieces and they are the best central midfield partnership in the world. I am expecting it to be a good open game and i'll say 3-2 to Barca in 90 mins. Goals coming from Messi, Henry and then Pique in the 90th minute.

But it would be typical of Manchester United to lose a match most English neutral would want them to win. Unfair comparison - Barca now are a different team to the one Liverpool and Man Utd beat. They're overrated I am not denying that as La Liga is not as strong the EPL by any stretch of the imagination but Barcelona are a special side. They're worlds away from Real Madrid. Definitely not unbeatable as Chelsea proved tonight, but there's no way Man Utd can/will play in the same manner Chelsea did imo.
May 6, 200916 yr With Abidal and Alves not in the final unlike before I actually feel a little confident about beating Barca now though but I still would have rather faced Chelsea even though it would have been a borefest! 2-1 United, Tevez bowing out with a bang :(
May 6, 200916 yr Author To be fair, i was worth it just to see Jamie Redknapp completley angry  Like Cass said, Didier Drogba just proved WHY all his critics hate him, what an absolute knob. I think the only clear cut penalty was the Pique handball, but I agree incompetant refereeing to the max. I don't beleive it was fixed though LOL just god awfully refereed. Still, makes a better final :o
May 6, 200916 yr Barcelona might not be a great team, but purely on possession alone and passing ability up to the penalty box they were miles ahead of Chelsea. I actually forgot Chelsea were the home team, and thought it must be Chelsea with a man less. Yes, that might have been their tactics but how more negative can you get, for the so called 2nd or 3rd best team in England.Hit a long ball for Anelka or Drogba and hope for the best. Yes, the ref was as dodgy as can be, and if Drogba had scored the ref might have dissallowed it, but if Chelsea had the balls to go for a second they would have won. Possibly 3 penalties, maybe, but still no guarantee they would have scored. Hoping the final will be a high scoring match, with the winner decided by goals and not refereeing decisions or penalties.
May 7, 200916 yr Author I don't buy any of this UEFA Conspiracy CRAP tbh... WHY would the PRESIDENT of UEFA sanction this?! I think it really is a case of the referee not being use to ruling such big matches in his native norway and not Platini's anti-english influence...
May 7, 200916 yr If it was some sort of conspiracy why would he send off a player (defender at that) when the team 'set up' to go through were 1-0 down, there were 25 minutes left on the clock and Barca were making no good of the posession they had? Especially over something as innocuous as a tangle of legs between defender and attacker? It was an awful refereeing performance, just as the performance was awful the night before, and just as there will be many more awful performances in the future of the Champions League.
