Coldplay lead Q Awards nominations

Coldplay have bagged four nominations for the 2008 Q Awards, including best album and best act in the world today.

 

In the former category, their fourth album Viva La Vida… goes up against Fleet Foxes’ and Vampire Weekend’s eponymous debuts, the Last Shadow Puppets’ the Age Of the Understatement and Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds’ Dig!!! Lazarus, Dig !!!.

 

In the latter, Coldplay compete against current Q cover starts Oasis, as well as Muse, Metallica and Kings Of Leon.

 

They are also nominated for best track and best video, for Violet Hill.

 

The 2008 awards take place on October 6 at the Grosvenor House hotel in London.

 

To mark the awards, the magazine is hosting four one-off shows at the Forum in London from September 29 to October 2.
