September 6, 200816 yr Until Iraq Bush was a very good President, Iraq is a total and utter f*** up that has screwed America but in his first term Bush was a good president    George W. Bush's legacy (exxcluding the "illegal" invasion of Iraq, something McCann still fully supports!) 1. Guantanomo Bay, the passing of law of the Military Commissions Act of 2006 which enabled the President of the USA to constitute what is torture, so according to GWB Waterboarding and as well as other forms of enhanced interrogation techniques are not torture, despite the fact the United Nations think they are. 2. Full support for the USA PATRIOT Act of 2002, constitutional amendments banning abortion and same-sex marriage. 3. The blocking of stem cell research freezing the expenditure started under Clinton. 4. Completely disregarding the Kyoto protocol agreement regarding pollution questioning the science behind the global warming phenomenon. 5. Support for Faith based initiatives that have seen a large growth in Creationist Christian faith-based education schools at the expense of more modern liberal based non-Christian schools in Urban areas. 6. Three economically disastrous Tax Cuts: The Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 (EGTRRA), the Job Creation and Worker Assistance Act of 2002 (JCWA), and Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 (JGTRRA). Aim: the tax cuts were to increase the pace of economic recovery and job creation. They also claim that total benefits to wealthier individuals were a reflection of higher taxes paid. Individual income tax rate provisions in the 2001 law, for instance, created larger marginal tax rate decreases for people earning less than US$12,000 than any other earners. But what happened was an increase in job creation predicted by Bush's plan failed to materialize. As the tax cuts favoured the wealthy and special interests, as the majority of benefit from the tax cut, in absolute terms, went to earners in the higher tax brackets. In an open letter to Bush in 2004, more than 100 professors of business and economics at U.S. business schools ascribed this "fiscal reversal" to Bush's "policy of slashing taxes - primarily for those at the upper reaches of the income distribution." By 2004, these cuts had reduced federal tax revenues, as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product, to the lowest level since 1959. In the last year of the Clinton administration, the federal budget showed an annual surplus of more than US$230 billion. Under Bush, the government returned to deficit spending. The annual deficit reached an absolute record of US$374 billion in 2003 and then a further record of $413 billion in 2004. 7. The incompetitance handling of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. 8. Record numbers of Capital punishment executions 9. Anti Abortion policies. Blocking federal aid to any counselling groups who support the right to abort a child. 10. A three-fold increase in the level of Tariffs to support US businesses against foreign countries. So much for free market policies. That's enough to be getting on with...... oh and I have not mentioned how he dubiously won the 2000 US Election in the key state of Florida despite having the least amounts of votes thanks to a dubious court decision by Florida State attorney. Funnily enough the Governor of Florida then was John "Jeb" Bush, younger brother of George, funny that.....

September 7, 200816 yr Whilst I'm not overly enamoured with the idea of a McCain presidency, I'm much more worried about his VP choice. Given McCain's age, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he is suddenly incapacitated (or worse  ). God forbid we then end up with the Born-Again Moose Hunting Dame as leader of the 'Free World'.
