September 14, 200816 yr It's OK, I wouldn't say it was bad. It's exactly the sort of stuff I thought he'd bring out if I'm honest.
September 14, 200816 yr ok after a bit of time i really like this now :o his voice is miles better :D

September 14, 200816 yr His face looks really thin The song isn't that bad, there are worse songs out, but it doesn't deserve number one
September 14, 200816 yr He looks much better on the cover, i think this might just do well and go down good with the Shayne fans!
September 15, 200816 yr Its pretty boring, i like the really like the song when Stephanie sings it- in a jazzy edgy style. But leons voice bores me on it, turns it in to a dreary ballad. Edited September 15, 200816 yr by utoia2004
September 15, 200816 yr Didnt think much of the song on first listen but now cant get it out of my head and it has become one of my favourite songs at the moment. For some reason I can picture Duffy singing something like this.
September 16, 200816 yr I do quite like Leon's voice (especially his lower range :)), but the song is a bit boring, also, lyrically I think it's too mature for him. Lastly, I really dislike the screechy strings at the beginning (and throughout the song), plus at the very end there's something else screechy. Ah yes, on second listen, it's the electric guitar. Don't like it, it hurts my ears.

September 16, 200816 yr Its Ray Quinn!!!!! Norma It IS!!!!! http://raymondquinn.moonfruit.com/communities/004/005/984/250/images/4515400584.jpg
September 16, 200816 yr It IS!!!!! http://raymondquinn.moonfruit.com/communities/004/005/984/250/images/4515400584.jpg I just love those 'rat pack' poses ... so hilarious when posed for by boys who are still being dressed by their mums! Bless! Don't they know 'swing' is for blokes in their 40's at least, with a ciggie in one hand and a glass of Scotch in the other ... and their liver and lungs on another continent! Norma
September 17, 200816 yr I think that's a tad unfair, music of any genre is for anyone.. I wouldn't call Leon's a rat pack post at all, and as for Ray, it's not as if it's a forced image, he is one of the most passionate people for that swing style I've ever seen in the business, 90, 40 or 6 years old! I love that music and I can only have two years on Raymond!

I love that music and I can only have two years on Raymond! I think you're actually wrong there about the 'passion' for the type of music. I believe 'swing' only became fashionable to Ray (and others) when he heard Robbie Williams do it (even though Rob probably would be the first to admit he is only a copy of the real thing). Which accounts for why, when Ray was originally asked on the X-Factor 'and who are your idols ... who would you like to be like?', I believe he said 'Robbie Williams' and not Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra or Sammy Davis Jr. I like swing music too, when done properly and with the geographical background. There's something irksome about some prat singing 'My Kind Of Town, Chicago Is' when his nearest town is probably Wigan! This philosophy not only applies to swing with me ... there would be something unreal about a woman from Stoke, say, singing 'Ode To Billie-Jo' in the Country & Western genre. Just my opinion mind. Norma edit - and before anyone says 'but he's from Liverpool' I know he is. Edited September 17, 200816 yr by Norma_Snockers
September 17, 200816 yr Perhaps you are right but they also made a big deal of the relationship he had with his father and his Dad being really into swing music etc which was the only type of music Ray then ended up loving... I seem to recall some clips of Ray singing or dancing to that genre as a child... What I mean is that when someone like Robbie or, worse, Westlife goes from a pop album to a swing album with no real reason it's not really credible - Ray came along and always wanted to record the classics album that he did end up doing. Perhaps there are elements of both our arguments that are right. I agree with you about the Geography thing and about doing an album of classics in general, though. I'd rather someone wrote some NEW swing music that meant something to them, not that meant something to Sinatra. I don't think Leon is anything like Ray as I think he only likes that music as he likes Buble, and would prefer he stuck to carving out his own musical path than be Buble mk.2, cause I think he could be great.

I seem to recall some clips of Ray singing or dancing to that genre as a child... I just find that so sad though! I remember when I was a kid and my parents (well my dad mostly) playing Jim Reeves and Marty Robbins songs on the 'stereogram' and thinking ... when I grow up and have control of that machine ... I'm going to smash them friggin' Country 'n Western songs to pieces. I hate it when kids are influenced by their parents choice in music. I love Take That (and ELO, Level 42, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, etc) but I try to make my son listen to music of 'his generation'. In the car I purposely play the Arctics, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Kaiser Chiefs, McFly, and others to try to get him to listen to some 'up to date' stuff (OK - some of you may think even they are old-fashioned). I don't want him to listen to stuff just because it is my favourite thing. There is nothing more painful (and quite hilarious in a way) than watching programs like 'Stars in Their Eyes' ... and you have some 13 year old singing a Patsy Cline or a Brenda Lee song ... and you think - that kid is going to have the $h!t kicked out of them on Monday when they're back at school! Having said that ... it is nice when good music prevails ... he still asks me to play The Beatles most of the time! Norma

I seriously hope the UK music-buying public turn away from this in droves - surely nobody of sound mind will fork out real money for this turgid old tosh?
