September 14, 200816 yr "When Do I Get To Sing.." is alright. I know Sparks are an old act, but I'm not knowledgeable about them.
September 14, 200816 yr I didn't know that Sparks track was re-issued in '95 but you're right, it did better than its '94 chartrun too. I like it, nice bit of synthpop. Seems like the two main sounds of 1995 were Britpop and Eurodance, still a few years away from the mass of boy and girlbands apart from Take That and East 17, and some early Boyzone hits too. I think easily the best Britpop track was Pulp's Common People, just completely timeless despite being kept off number 1 by Robson and bloody Jerome <_< Best dance, well gotta be N-Trance's Set You Free, yeah it's cheesy and everyone's heard it again and again but still brilliant! That and Faithless's Insomnia but that didn't become a big hit until 1996. Then again N-Trance was a re-issue from the previous year, so who cares :P My favourite songs as a 6/7 year old were Edwyn Collins's A Girl Like You, Simply Red's Fairground, Bjork's It's Oh So Quiet and, erm, the Mike Flowers Pops cover of Wonderwall  . I remember thinking Michael Jackson's Earth Song was a very silly song because the chorus just consisted of him going "Aaaaaah Ooooh" but hey, he was still a pretty big star in those days so he could do what he liked.

September 15, 200816 yr 1995, eh? Great year for music (even if Robson and Jerome did sell 1.8 million singles). I'll need to listen to the 1995 folder on my laptop before imputting more into this thread.

September 16, 200816 yr no mention of oasis?... i regard oasis's early years as their best. tbh i didnt like most of britpop, i dont like pulp, suede, blur or edwyn collins! :P. but britpop made guitar pop fashionable again, in the mainstream and not just the preserve of some kid students who were being 'really cool' liking indie.
September 16, 200816 yr 1995 was when Oasis lost it for good with 'Roll With It'. 'Some Might Say' was one of their best though. I'd still say 1994 was their year - they dominated.

I'd still say 1994 was their year - they dominated. 94 was good for oasis, shakermaker was my fav, but 'dont look back in anger' was the perfect pop song in 96. to me it was that that was their zenith... until 'the importance of being idle'.
September 16, 200816 yr My album of 1995? Well... 01: Adina Howard - Freak Like Me jmW3lh7Npzg Now THIS is my kind of RnB. Proper summer jam! 02: Alanis Morisette - You Oughta Know Tnbc64XQ1DI Can't usually abide the over philisophical, man-hating cow but I bizarrely like this - even if it's dated as hell! 03: The Bucketheads - The Bomb! P2THjmRLyp8 Absolute groundbreaking tune! And the vid was directed by a then virtually unknown Guy Richie! 04: Bjork - Hyperballad nH6CXQtFbBE One of her defyning moments. Bjork trnaslated to heavenly euphoria almost, effortlesly. 05: Happy Clappers - I Believe GuTi3f6CrgI Gotta have a bit of joyful handbag house - it is 1995 after all. 06: Brownstone - If You Love Me atgjkqf7rwY Another real quality RnB anthem before the vile blandnss that is today! 07: Livin' Joy - Dreamer 86btbPOFfaE A hit in 1994 and a number one hit in 1995! Another landmark handbag house anthem! 08: Kylie Minogue - Where Is The Feeling? syBiI2bG1o4 A very under-rated Kylie track IMO and one of her best. 09: Edwyn Collins - A Girl Like You nkKxGzm98AU Seems to be a popular choice here - and correctly so! 10: McAlmont & Butler - Yes SJSaRw1vjxM A random choice, but the soul in this just oozes out! A bloody great year, I think.
