Erotica was a hit back in 1992. But there was a demo version of it with different lyrics and different sound: Erotica/You Thrill Me. She first sang as far as I know this demo version on the Confessions Tour.

 

Which one is the better version? If the You Thrill Me remix would have been the single instead of the original version, would it been a bigger hit?

* Erotica (unreleased demo). U.S. copyright registration PAu-1-605-642 - Known among fans as You Thrill Me since these words are contained in the alternate lyrics. Madonna incorporated this demo into the version of Erotica that she performed on her 2006 Confessions Tour. It is significantly different from the released album version. The verse lyrics are the same as those used on the album, though there is no trace of the familiar chorus lyric "Erotic, Erotic, put your hands all over my body". Instead Madonna sings a different chorus line with a different melody in the same type of voice that ends with the line:

The instrumentation is approximately the same as the commercial mix but the released mix is more distinctive, more complex, and more exotic. The Rough Mix includes the complete refrain, "Erotica, romance, I'd like to put you in a trance . . . Erotica, romance, I'd like to do a different kind of dance." A full demo of this song, called "Final Demo 2", leaked onto the internet in February 2008.

You Thrill Me is amazing, it's much more exciting then the rather repetitive original. It should have been released in place of it. Erotica is one of my favourite albums though, and the original track isn't bad - just a bit overlong.

I think the original Erotica is good together with the video. Without it it's a bit boring and repetitive as you said.

I like the original.

Both are cool, but I like the original Erotica better.
