Posted September 23, 200818 yr Led Zeppelin: 'American Singer To Replace Robert Plant' A tabloid report claims... A dubious story has been published in a tabloid newspaper this weekend, claiming that the other members of Led Zeppelin are ready to replace Robert Plant with an American frontman. The story claims that Jimmy Page, John-Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have been practising in London without Plant who is still touring with country star Alison Krauss. It says that in Plant's absence, an American singer has been standing in for him – and that stand-in singer could become more permanent. A 'source' tells The Sun: "They've been rehearsing frequently in London and the band is really gelling. There's an American guy who has been standing in for Robert regularly and doing a great job. "Obviously they want the original frontman to join them on the road but he still won't commit. They will be finalising plans for shows over the next couple of months and will tell Robert that if he doesn't want to be involved they will go ahead without him." Okay, so it sources The Sun :heehee:, but it's been widley known that Led Zepp want to tour again but Plant would rather concentrate on his own projects. Would you still go to a Led Zeppelin concert without Robert Plant as frontman? Oh, and for those who don't know, the Spice Girls beat Led Zeppelin for 'Best Live Return'. Boo.
September 23, 200818 yr i reckon its bollocks to be honest, i cant imagine them doing that, it would also be very $h!t.
September 29, 200818 yr Robert Plant rejects Led Zeppelin reunion rumours The singer has issued a statement saying he has no plans to tour for the next two years * guardian.co.uk, * Monday September 29 2008 11:23 BST No sooner had envy and peer pressure reportedly got the better of him than Robert Plant was on hand to dismiss rumours of him rejoining Led Zeppelin as "ridiculous and frustrating". The singer has denied that the band will be touring following their one-off reunion at London's 02 Arena last year, saying he will head out on the road again for the next two years. Plant's current tour with Alison Krauss, with whom he recorded the hugely successful Raising Sands album, will finish on October 5. "Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin," read a statement released on the singer's behalf earlier today. "Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets." The statement continues: "It's both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward. I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects."
October 9, 200818 yr Who the hell could you get to front Led Zep though, if not "Percy" Plant...??? It's quite literally inconceivable.... God forbid it's someone like Scott Weiland.... :puke2: :puke2: although perhaps someone like Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees), although his voice is considerably more baritone than Plant's.. Josh Homme...? Chris Cornell..? Maynard James Keenan...? Jerry Cantrell...? If only he was still alive, Layne Stayley (Alice In Chains) would've been a seriously good replacement for Plant I reckon.... Of course, if they looked a bit closer to the UK, they could perhaps try to coax Opeth's frontman Mikael Ackerfeldt to join them temporarily.... Opeth are a modern-day Zep in a lot of ways anyway....
