Posted September 29, 200816 yr 3am Exclusive: Cheryl Cole offered £1m to stay for another series of X Factor By Clemmie Moodie 29/09/2008 Cheryl Cole (Pic:PA) X Factor judge Cheryl Cole is being offered a 100 per cent rise by Simon Cowell to sign for next year’s series. But the TV mogul is racing against time to get the singer to agree to the £1million deal – as her band Girls Aloud are off to the USA. A studio insider said: “Cheryl has been an instant hit with viewers and contestants. “She initially signed a one-year deal as she wasn’t sure how she would fare and Simon didn’t want to commit to an unknown quantity. Now he’s desperate to get her for a new series and put pen to paper. “He realises he will have to fight to keep her as Girls Aloud are in talks to do a US tour. Exciting news for the band!!! They could well try to make it big in the States apparently!!
September 29, 200816 yr I think the US tour thing has come from what the Jonas Brothers have said. I'm sort of in two minds whether this would be a good idea or not
September 29, 200816 yr Why on earth would GA tour america? Do they mean as a support for the jonas bros?
September 29, 200816 yr Brilliant about the US, just a shame it's as support to one of the worst bands from this decade
September 29, 200816 yr Why does everyone sound like its confirmed - this is coming from the Mirror afterall
September 29, 200816 yr Exactly. :/ There's no way they'd tour America, not without spending months on end getting their name out there first. It took the likes of Duffy, Adele, Estelle, Natasha Bedingfield an age to get out there and find success...
September 29, 200816 yr Author Exactly. :/ There's no way they'd tour America, not without spending months on end getting their name out there first. It took the likes of Duffy, Adele, Estelle, Natasha Bedingfield an age to get out there and find success... It could well be a supporting tour. Jonas Brother are released in the UK under Girls Aloud label Fascination, and there's been many rumours stating that they were asked to support them in America this year but couldn't because of UK commitments. So that wouldn't be a surprise if they were asked again next year, especially considering the label connection. And it could be a promo US tour, not a big arena tour or anything like that. Just touring radios and stuff, like Natasha Bedingfield did when she started, singing to minimal crowds. So no need for the ":/" face really, we're just commenting the article and saying what it could be about. :) Edited September 29, 200816 yr by Bert
September 29, 200816 yr I'll use the :/ if i want to, it's a criticism of the Mirror, not of Girls Aloud lol... It'll likely be trash imo. I just don't see them trying to crack America before even attempting Europe. Still, good for them if they did get a supporting gig, I just think the Mirror have seen the Jonas' comment about wanting to tour with them and either blown it out of proportion and turned it into 'it will happen' or have just got confused.
September 29, 200816 yr I'm highly sceptical they'd tour on their own in the US. Part of a Jonas Bros tour would be the best way to crack open America, before really breaking it there. The Mirror does print a lot of flannel juice though. Almost like one of those stories they're planting to start another future GA split story, or a Cheryl vs Dannii story.

I didnt see any problem with the :/ face, i probably pulled the same face when i heard about it, They could easily be a support act but like you said, its probably just the mirror making something out of nothing. GA are too busy with UK commitments.
September 30, 200816 yr If it was a choice between either, i think the US move might just win for me. The only plus points for X Factor is getting GA's name out there and keeping them for us soley in the UK!
