Below is the track listing for the DVD part of the OMD sight & sound Greatest Hits best of Messages...

Please rate these OMD singles on the patented Clancykatona scale from 1 to 100...100 being for the most awesome record they ever did - the kind you wouldn't feel ashamed playing to the most sexy supermodel (or Molly Ringwold if you prefer) that you happened to meet at the local Otara Millionaires Club even though secretly you know that OMD could be seen at best as some kind of 'Primark Joy Division'.... but still a high score means that these are records that not even Sugababes could ruin if they half-heartidly adapted them in a couldnt be arsed current single type of way (though i will not mention the scooter album at this point ) on the other hand a score of 1 means its the most bankrupt load of bargain bucket bejam bollocks you ever did hear - and i guess a lot from the mid 1980s might fall here....

tbh i dont know half of them tracks and some of the others i dont recall but would upon hearing. ... and no, please DONT post a mile long reply with all the youtube vids on.... i wont listen to them plus it takes ages sometimes for multiple youtube vids to load... i guss not everyone has superfast broadband and waiting for a thread to open due to several youtube vids is frustrating :)

as for omd...... never really liked them.

They had some great singles, I especially love 'Electricity' and 'Tesla Girls'. I also loved 'Pandoras Box' at the time and would probably still like it now...of course by then it was just McClusky doing his 'uncle at a wedding' dancing on Top of the Pops.

Great electronic band

These are my faves:

Electricity

Red Frame White Light

Messages

Souvenir

Joan Of Arc - (This was my ultimate fave.)

Maid Of Orleans (Waltz Of Joan Of Arc)

These last 2 always get mixed up due to their titles.

My favourite by them by the "Scouse synth pop Geography & Science teacher's lookalikes" © Andy McCluskey 2004:

OMD - Maid of Orleans (The Waltz Joan of Arc) (1982)

To hell it with, I know its uncool but I prefer them more than New Order (treason I know ).

And where on the new Best Of album is their last big hit "Walking On The Milky Way" featuring T'Pau's Carol Decker on backing vocals.

Still at least they did not add their 2008 "Recover" that Andy wrote & produced for "The Primark Sugababes":

OMD - Whole Again (2008)

I already have an earlier Best of cd by them, and both 90s albums, but if this has a dvd

of their videos, i think it's worth getting for that.

It's a pity their last Top 10 hit 'Walking On The Milky Way' isn't on there though.

If you use Firefox a good add-on is Flashblock - it stops youtube vids from loading until you decide to unblock a particular video by clicking the flashblock button that loads instead of the video.

As for OMD, I liked them in 1980 to 1981, after that they lost their way and became quite bland.

I have their best of album but I only ever play their early stuff.

The best OMD stuff was their early stuff, I totally love Souvenir, and Maid of Orleans, even Enola Gay is regarded as a classic single from them.

Their later stuff like Tesla Girls and Talking Loud & Clear became bland for me. And lost interest in them completely.

Didn't Andy McCluskey managed Atomic Kitten in the end.

one way around it i guess..:)

agreed. the early material was much better then the bland stuff later on.

we had 'souvenir' in last nights pop quiz :)

I own their first album Architecture & Morality and I thought its quite a good album. But never bought any of their others.

its actually on there..this is hmv's track listing (think the one above came from amazon or cd-wow) and so you do get Walking On The Milky Way on the album but not Stand Above Me....which is a bit tragic seeing as they've put a lot of $h!tty stuff from the mid 1980s when they've decided to stop being kraftwerk and wanted to be to be (fellow four piece one member duo) tears for fears instead (and even tho Walking On The Milky Way is much better than the god awful Closest Thing to Heaven...working with Emiliana Torrini is better than Atomic Kitten  )
