In April 09 we will FINALLY be able to watch the first in a three part series of Dragonball. It will be a Live Action film so no cartoons apart from LOADS of CGI. Trailers look  Just hope this doesnt ruin one of the best Anime's EVER! A whole franchise is being planned (Comic books, Game etc) and will be released through 20th Century Fox Pictures and directed by James Wong

However it has been released via Fox that the above trailer is not fully completed and was originally going to be added to the Max Payne film trailers but because the Special Effects is still not completed, they are going to show it at a later date.

Either way im quite happy with the trailer as long as Picollo BECOMES GREEN!

James Marsters stars as Picollo

Justin Chatwin stars as Goku

Akira Toriyama, the acclaimed manga artist who created the Dragon Ball universe back in 1984, had some interesting thing to say to this Japanese site (which was helpfully translated by anime news network).

Commenting before the new Japanese trailer for the film, he said: "As the original creator, I had a feeling of "Huh?" upon seeing the screenplay and the character designs, but the director, all the actors, the staff, and the rest are nothing but 'ultra' high-calibre people."

He went on: "Maybe the right way for me and all the fans to appreciate it is as a new Dragon Ball of a different dimension. Perhaps, this might become a great masterpiece of power! Hey, I look forward to it!!"

The creator of Dragon Ball seems cautiously optimistic about the new film.

It sounds like Toriyama is happy to accept Dragonball: Evolution on its own terms - what do you guys think? The movie is out on April 8 in the US, and the 10th in the UK.

Oh my dayzzzzz. I aint seen this in TIME (i.e. ever since my mum got rid of Sky because me and my brother use to fight over what to watch  ).

I use to love the programme. The trailer doesn't look to good though or to similar to the original cartoon, who knows?

Oh and btw, that guy looks nothing like Goku. I would of preferred it if they gave him more of that Japanese/Comic image. + boo at Frieza not being in the film, he was my favourite.

Oh, I always thought Freiza was in the first series?

I dont think so... There is an early film about Freiza and Goku's Father but the first series is mainly about Goku as a kid.. I dont remember seeing Freiza till the Nameka saga/film

Oooh I understand it now. There's Dragonball, then the second series being Dragonball Z and then there was that third one.

One question, who was the name of that person who had that sucker thing on his tail(?) and got strength from sucking people?

Yeah I think that's the one. :heehee:

I used to be one, but I haven't watched it in time. :( This and Johhny Bravo (+ that weird pink dog) were the best cartoons around on Cartoon Network.
