November 21, 200816 yr Is CP not a non-profit organisation so it just covers costs? I assume if that's the case the price is more likely to change with more/less members...
November 21, 200816 yr If that's true, that's cool. The year's subscription is good value I agree, but I don't have that kind of money to throw about... Edited November 21, 200816 yr by TomKay
November 21, 200816 yr If that's true, that's cool. The year's subscription is good value I agree, but I don't have that kind of money to throw about... The problem is that we have roughly enough subscribers to equal the cost to C+ so if we loose a subscriber (well, more like three or four) then the costs must go up for all. Obviously, the more we get will mean price rises can be held off and could, in the longer term, lead to reductions. It isn't profit making but it does try and have a little profit in the kitty in case somebody stops subscribing so that the whole house of cards does not fall down. As to the charts contained within - when C+ comes back it will have the same charts as before. We have discussed adding/subtracting charts from the magazine and that would only happen with an eye to what people actually want. if, for example, nobody wanted, say, the Digital Top 40 chart, then it would be dropped. Now, I know that is not the case, just an example. We are more likely to add rather than take away. When it comes back email us as to what charts you do want added and we shall see when we can afford to add charts.

Is that a slip Lonnie - you've remained circumspect before? :) The only thing I really miss is Jon's chart commentaries, but I realise those are unlikely to return. Okay, you caught me! I think that the emails that have gone out to all subscribers imply a 'when' not an 'if'. We just, as I said, need the go ahead from one party. :D
November 22, 200816 yr Could be cool to have the TV Airplay 100 also, but I dunnot know if that is even distributed by Nielsen... But that would be my question  xox.

This question I can answer, the Airplay chart is distributed by Nielsen, they have the copyright logo in the mag next to the Airplay chart. And thanks Lonnie for keeping everyone in the loop regarding Chartplus.
November 22, 200816 yr I've never found the TV Play T40 that interesting myself - it seems inhererently biased to me - or perhaps more accurately, bias-able. In order to add the TV Airplay we would need, firstly, the archive. My understanding is that it is simply a Top 40 chart, but I never looked into it too much. If you have any typed TV Airplay charts from when it started (2003) and want to send to me in Excel, then feel free :D :D
November 22, 200816 yr The TV Airplay Top 40 isn't a brilliant chart in that it isn't compiled from estimated viewers (like the normal TV charts are). Instead it is compiled from plays a video gets. So a play on a small channel with next to no audience carries as much weight as a play on a channel with a relatively decent size audience. The chart ultimately is larger than a top 40 but only a top 40 is published in Music Week - though it does have "last week" figures of songs new to the top 40 that suggest the chart could be a top 600+ at least! Last week TI and Rihanna were shown as being number 14 with a "last week" figure of number 631. This week Kings Of Leon move 217 - 21 (with Use Somebody).

November 23, 200816 yr The TV airplay chart isn't that interesting to me either, but mostly because I don't watch music channels that much these days. The top 100 radio airplay ont he other hand is very interesting, because I don't think the whole top 100 is available online, and it would mean that I could create the UK Bullboard Hot 100... :)

The ONLY place to get the full Top 100 Airplay is in C+ :D
November 26, 200816 yr So, any developments? :) Not that I have heard. Which annoys me, but then, some parties are slightly slower than others, but, then, they do have more to do :D
November 27, 200816 yr I bet it will go on like this until we'll purely forget about the Charts Plus existance :P As a subscriber, I was waiting for a quick resolution just like it was the case of the Airplay chart, last spring -_- Now, I pretty might not understand exactly what's the priority in all this waiting... the 101-200 peaks of the UK "singles" and albums chart??? I personally managed to say this from the beginning that i dunnot give a flying duck about them ;) Meanwhile, these 7 past weeks the old or new Charts Plus team received the Airplay 100  The reason why I personally am a subscriber of this newsletter :) But noooo... No Airplay arrived in my mailbox since 7 weeks ago because the UK top 200 is not available  When the airplay was not available the C+ sent the UK chart... Now, until the new or old team manage to get things together with the blah blah top 200, can we receive the Airplay 100 at least? :w00t: It's my priority, and I really want to receive that chart... I know that the chart is available, so I want that one, beyond the rest of the Chart Company stuff that is not available :teresa: xox.
November 27, 200816 yr Me too. Hell, I'd practically pay £29.99 for three months of the top 100 airplay chart ;) But nevertheless I would be very interested to have the 101-200 sales chart data, and I'#m pretty sure I will be subscribing when the magazine returns, unless an alternative comes along first, I'm sorry to say...

Qiute the opposite for me - without the singles/albums #101-200, I would not subscribe - or at best, only be willing to pay about 1/3 of the current price.
November 27, 200816 yr Every subscriber has different needs that's why they try to have a wider range of charts. It has no sense to send subscribers charts individually. Someone wants to see the chart between 101-200 (and I think the majority of subscribers likes to have it) and some wants airplay. Please be patient I think they try to to their best ;)
