Great band, i've got the singles released from the album apart from the most recent one which was

just remixes featuring the likes of fallout boy i think.

after a few listens i really like this album, although it's nowhere near there best, some tracks are uter amazing though such as 'The Only One' and 'Sleep When I'm Dead'

By their own incredibly high standards, this is a fairly average-to-above-average effort... Perhaps in the league of "Wish" or "Bloodflowers"... I dont think we can ever realistically hope The Cure will ever again attain the absolutely staggering heights of "Seventeen Seconds", "Disintegration" or "Pornography" (one of the best albums by anyone, EVER..), but they certainly have not disgraced themselves, this is good stuff when all's said an done, and for men all pushing 50, well, they certainly can teach bands half their age a thing or several...

For any other band, this is a great record, and is streets ahead of stuff like Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party or The Killers IMO..

They're iconic, I agree.. but they haven't half released some chaff this past 10 years..... kind of sullied their reputation for me.

Fave Cure moments? Pornography, Head on the Door, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, some of Disintegration and the Japanese Whispers compilation.

It seems The Cure are desperately in need of a graphic designer, too... they rival REM for having the most utterly ugly album covers....

This album is immense,

I love the fact that they're not swayed by the new music thats around and they still keep the rawness of The Cure.

I have to disagree.. Their only really bad album for me is "Wild Mood Swings"... Pretty terrible guff tbh... "Bloodflowers" isn't an easy listen, you kind of have to be in the mood for it; "The Cure" has its moments as well (I only really question the choice of producer, Ross Robinson, tbh, I dont think he really understood The Cure's sound. I heard that Robert Smith got a bit frustrated with Robinson...), but this one's probably better than either of those now that I've heard it a few times....

Well, they had a very clear hand in influencing much of the new music that's around...

But no one's gonna have the presence of The Cure.

Totally agree... I mean, it amuses me, that all these bands like My Comical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, etc are all claiming to be influenced by Smith (and Morrissey too), and yet, the question has to be asked "well, why the fukk is your music such bloody, pish-poor SH!TE then mate....???"  I can certainly buy that the likes of Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Deftones and A Perfect Circle were influenced by The Cure though, because, well, they actually GOT the point.....

Exactly.

Unfortunately because i'm only 17 i wasn't a fan of The Cure before, and for a while i only listened to My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy etc.

However, now that i listen to The Cure i can't take any of them bands seriously,

And what really annoyed me was when i was at a Good Charlotte gig and they actually sang one of The Cure's songs!

That made me realise the difference between the two bands.

SERIOUSLY??? God, they want shooting for that..... <_< It's a bit like Pussycat Dolls covering Joy Division innit....?

Or like Fall Out Boy covering Joy Division, trust me you dont want to hear that it is sickly.

No, I dont, I really dont... Sounds like it's the sort of think that could drive me to murder every Emo kid I see walking around Camden....

Unfortunately i'm serious about Good Charlotte covering The Cure.

They sang Love Song... badly.

And Joel (the lead singer) was all like, OMG i feel that Robert Smith wrote this song for me about my little girl (he recently had that child with Nicole Richie).

AAAAAAAARGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :puke2: :puke2: :puke2: :puke2: :puke2: :puke2: :puke2:

KILL KILL KILL...... Yeah, as IF Robert Smith would write a song for some tw@t from an Emo boy band and a useless, talentless drongo like Nicole fukkin' Richie......

I mean, I aint against bands covering Cure songs... I totally LOVED Jack Off Jill's version of "Love Song", fantastic.... And Snake River Conspiracy's totally MAD Industrial/Techno-Goth version of that song has to be heard to be believed.....

Exactly, i don't mind bands covering The Cure, but not someone as lame as Good Charlotte!!

And i can't actually get over the fact that he said about Robert Smith writing it for him!
