just downloaded Guru Josh, I haven't even heard this remix but I was certain I'd like it

sure enough, I do

No.6  hope it gets to No.1, in my opinion is their best single in years and years depsite others thinking its weak

'Here I am...walking primrose'

Despite the majority of Buzzjack members dissing the track because it is not some hybrid of Something Kinda Oooh and Sexy No No No, I love The Promise and it is probably now my 2nd favourite GA single behind Biology.

I'm delighted by its success, despite their not great vocal performance on X-Factor it deserves to be UK#1 next week (and the manner & speed it is climbing iTunes suggest it will be) as it musical development exposes how dated new band The Saturdays sound in comparison.

Up sounds way more contemporary than The Promise, sorry.

I don't care I love both tracks and want them to both do well

It sounds like a lost 411 track from 2004.

I hope we get a new update before midnight and we can see them climbing to the top5 hopefully ^_^

Itunes is updated every 4 hours or so, isn't it ?

Well I love that Girls Aloud song now. I think its my favourite - there's something about it that is reminiscent not of another song but of a place a time - I can't put my finger on it but its just brilliant.

and The Promise sounds like a 1960 track... ^_^ Exactly the reason why you like it.

I like The Promise, but lets face it, its a step back from their sounds imo. Very retro-ish doesnt really suit them imo.

It all part of the whole 1960s Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Gabrielle Cilmi, Adele, Solange, etc retro soul revival.

Much better than a song written by three Scandinavian songwriters who wrote the track in 2004 for an aborted 2nd album by The 411.

They also wrote this fantastic tune which is much better than Up.

The 411 - Dumb (2004)

Even though that track is 4 years old it sounds more contemporary than The Saturdays.

Now The 411, now that is what I call a great girl band, not some manufactured pop group who despite the enormous hype and money spent by their record company can't even get close to the success of Girls Aloud, Sugababes or even S Club 8 for a very good reason ............ They are not very good. ^_^

It depends where in the world you're releasing it. "Up" is the sound thats currently becoming very popular in the USA, the whole electropop vibe. Those American artists are having some of their biggest hits there and in Europe with their current sound :)

Bloody stupid record label dropping them and also realesing Teardrops as the 3rd single, they should have gone with Chance instead.

Anyway they were amazing and i much prefered them to Girls Aloud and The Sugababes at the time.

Pink was added on the 26th of September, she was #10 by 9pm the same day, and #1 by 5pm the day after !

So Girls Aloud are doing rather weeeell at the moment :cheer:

you can't compare CTS with the Promise, these are two different music styles

Seen as though they are both GA singles, it's perfectly fine to compare the two. I also think Call The Shots is miles better than The Promise.

Atm, The Promise >>>>>>> Call The Shots. But there's no doubting the latter is a classic, will The Promise be? :o
