Posted October 20, 200816 yr Sad times man :( I'll add a more coherent, structured and article-like article SOON
October 20, 200816 yr NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! My favourite album of the year so far as well :( I wonder if it had anything to do with Dorrian being ill earlier this year.
It is. He says he doesn't know if he'll ever be well enough to be able to play the guitar again. Although they could easily replace him, I guess it's good in a way that they didn't.
October 20, 200816 yr Well it was him who wrote most of the songs including most of the lyrics so it was probably for the best.
October 20, 200816 yr Author I am just happy I got to see them live before everything went so awfully wrong. I loved both albums even the second, critically-panned one.
October 20, 200816 yr To be honest i thought they were a bit c**p :( also i swear Dorian(?) had to play guitar for two, the other guitarest just didnt know chords.
October 20, 200816 yr I really liked this lot. They had two good albums and a clutch of memorable singles. I am quite sad at this.
October 22, 200816 yr Although they could easily replace him, I guess it's good in a way that they didn't. It'd be the equivalent of Oasis replacing Noel Gallagher although on a much smaller, yet better scale - just not feasible. Poor Dorian had a stroke earlier this year and needs a long time to recover. Kate's just announced she's going solo - http://www.culturedeluxe.com/news_item.asp?id=5028
October 23, 200816 yr That's a shame, i loved their first album. Never got round to getting their 2nd although it was on my list.

Kate's just announced she's going solo - http://www.culturedeluxe.com/news_item.asp?id=5028 Hmm yeah, I confess to now knowing that much about the band. I didn't realise he was such an important part, I kind of assumed like most bands he'd be *just* the guitarist....
October 25, 200816 yr Well it was him who wrote most of the songs including most of the lyrics so it was probably for the best. I am just happy I got to see them live before everything went so awfully wrong. I loved both albums even the second, critically-panned one. on one hand its sad but on the other you kinda cynically think - in regards to the success of the second album and coming so soon after Dirty Pretty Things - that maybe they would have split up anyway and the illness even tho tragic - is a damn good excuse for a split.... http://leafandlime.hobix.com/pic/edc.jpg btw just have to say ...Hooray for Edwyn Collins :cheer: :yahoo: :cheer:
October 25, 200816 yr Author ^ Yes I was thinking this :o They most definately didn't have the same label support for the second record (going from 2x 7" and a CD single to a limted 7" and on your lead single...something's up). The album sank generally too and everyone stopped caring. Kate Jackson has the potential to do well on her own. If nothing else being an edgy pretty lady helps you some of the way.
