That was bad. Sven was bad. Downing was awful.

Why did Sven sub Owen for the useless Downing ? All he did was run at their defence and lose the ball. Surely you would replace Owen with a striker, you can't have Crouch up on his own, as all he does is do flick-ons. And taking off our best player of the game (J Cole) for Hargreaves, WHAT was that about ?! Anyway, 3 points is all the matters and I expect a much beter performance against Trinidad & Tobago.

 

I can understand why he brought Downing on, and I thought he did well, as he had the confidence to run at the Paraguay defence, but he can sometimes be tackled too easily. I thought he did well with the switching the ball across the flanks with Beckham as well.

 

I still don't know why Sven brought Hargreaves on. Surley Carrick would have been a much suitable repleacement.

 

Trinidad and Tobago are actually doing ok against Sweden :o . Its still 0-0 after 70 mins. Hislop is basically keeping them in the game though but they've performed quite well on the break though.

Wow, entertaining match Sweden had more chances of scoring in the second half, and all were denied by Hislop, T & T are playing very well with 10 men

Yay, good result for Tinidad in the end, i'm not sure on Svens subs, they where good for the reason as we didn't want them injured and there were quit a few nasty challenges in that game, they where bad as the result wasn't sealed and he brought on two not so good players.

Well Done to T&T - Sweden were poor.

 

Shaka Hislop was magnificent.

 

That match proved IMHO that England have already played their toughest group opponent in their opening fixture.

Great result for England as well as Trinidad and Tobago. I think their gonna ve a tough cookie to crack to Thursday as their work rate is superb.

Trinidad & Tobago are elated :lol: Anyone would think they'd won the whole cup. Sweden proved what we all already knew though, that they are a shadow of their former self. They have a weak squad and their work ethic is abysmal. Towards the end they more or less gave up. England shouldn't have a problem beating ANY of these two teams to be honest.

I thought eventhough Sweden were poor yesterday Trinidad deserve credit for the way they defended and I thought played very good considering they had 10 men for half of the match. :cheer:

I thought Sweden played really well. :o They just couldn't score, Allback was pretty poor infront of goal and Ljungberg had a pretty bad match. Ibrahimovic played well IMO. But for Sweden not to even score against 10 men Trinidad & Tobago for 45 minutes IS pretty poor.

Chris Birchall the Port Vale winger played very well and defended well IMO :mellow:

Well doen to T & T who got a monster of a result even if the opposition played pants.

I doubt Sweden will be below par for the England game.

England don't look like going beyond the group stage at this point. Far to many players unfit and/or past it.

England will easily get out of the group,probably with 9 points.Think we may make it to the semis.

There;s no point in playing Rooney. They tackle far too hard. Save him for Sweden.. :|

Robinson's been poor so far. A couple he came for and should've had. Left us in danger, thank FOOK for Terry! Good performance so far though. We need Lennon and Walcott on though. Pace is gonna beat them!

England aren't playing well, but T&T aren't doing much better. There just marking Owen and Crouch out of the game so its impossible for either of them to make darting runs.

 

Beckham is having a bad game so far as well. I think what might need to happen is to bring a winger on as the full backs look like that can be easily infultrated.

I think with the way T&T play anyone in this world cup would struggle!

The long ball is not working, and yes it may work for 10 mins v another team, but Owen cannot play the long ball, and we need Rooney oor Walcott on. (Ideally Defoe but Sven wanted a young sub instead, who he has no faith in or he'd of played as sub for owen v para)
