Posted October 24, 200816 yr OK, as 1999 was a more popular year, let's stick with the late 90s. My personal favourites of the year: 1. Karen Ramirez - Looking For Love Great cover of Everything But The Girl track 2. Placebo - Pure Morning Loved the original, but check out the Les Rhythm Digitales Remix! 3. Madonna - Frozen Still think this is one of her best singles 4. Wildchild - Renegade Master (Fatboy Slim Remix) Club classic! 5. Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You Ditto! And that god damn awful No Matter What kept this off No.1! 6. Garbage - I Think I'm Paranoid Great track 7. Melanie B ft Missy Elliot - I Want You Back OK, so her version of Word Up was shocking, but this is an underrated pop gem! 8. Cher - Believe I know this one will divide people, but I still think it's a great No.1 9. Lodger - I'm Leaving Charted no higher than No.40. Forgotten gem. 10. Skinny - Failure Again, a bit of a flop. Loved this! 11. Corrs - What Can I Do (Tin Tin Out Mix) MOR maybe. But what a tune! 12. Natalie Imbruglia - Smoke Though I still like Torn, it's been played to death. This is a fantastic song and deserved better than No.5 My worst for the year - that horrid vomit inducing nonsense from Boyzone which kept Stardust off the top spot!
October 25, 200816 yr 9. Lodger - I'm Leaving Charted no higher than No.40. Forgotten gem. well i suppose everyone was buying Bush's Razorblade Suitcase at the time http://www.virginmedia.com/images/lowe-chung-dkprem-gal-300.jpg Institute!!! Blue Mercedes!!! Suddenly the boomtown rats has become not that embarrassing 12. Natalie Imbruglia - Smoke Though I still like Torn, it's been played to death. This is a fantastic song and deserved better than No.5 My worst for the year - that horrid vomit inducing nonsense from Boyzone which kept Stardust off the top spot! yeah totally agree with both - even tho Imbruglia's fantastic - have to say that record of the year may have to be Music Sounds Better With You....
October 25, 200816 yr Cher - Believe Culture Club - I Just Wanna Be Loved - great comeback single. The Corrs - Dreams Karen Ramirez - Looking For Love Steps - One For Sorrow Spice Girls - Viva Forever   B*Witched - To You I Belong Honeyz - Finally Found Lutricia McNeal - Stranded and Someone Loves You Honey Shania Twain - From This Moment Tina Cousins - Pray - I adore this song: j4RVGue9DOQ Cleopatra - Life Aint Easy IRGZadmMAL8 Aqua - Turn Back Time and Good Morning Sunshine Madonna - Frozen and even better....The Power of Goodbye Billie Myers - "Kiss The Rain" - An obscure track from that year you dont hear very often. Shame nothing more came from her: 1MibKBAnjhU Ace Of Base - Life Is A Flower Sash ft Tina Cousins - Mysterious Times Solid Harmonie - I want you to want me, I wanna love you Sweetbox - Everything's Gonna Be Alright --- A beautiful one-hit wonder track with a mix of rap, classic and r and b ojI0-GCe2as Alda - Girls Night Out - When we're old and cooking an onion :D ZHcdyPZxmXo Meja - All About The Money - "It's all about the money, it's all about the dum dum dum dum dum" :D Tamperer - Feel it The worst single of 1998 is the yobbish "Vindaloo" by Fat Les :puke2:
October 25, 200816 yr Aqua - Turn Back Time and Good Morning Sunshine actually come to think of it Good Morning Sunshine might be their best single...actually i think i've got that somewhere on cassingle...
October 25, 200816 yr amazing year, probably my best ever, I found it incredibly hard to narrow it down to 12... 1. The Corrs - So Young brilliant pop song, Sharon's violin solo is great, my favourite of their 1998 singles 2. Cher - Believe stunning comeback, brilliant Xenomania pop 3. Ace Of Base - Life Is A Flower a great string-laden comeback from the Swedes, I still listen to it regularly now! 4. The Cardigans - My Favourite Game another excellent Swedish comeback, more commercial than their past albums but all the better for it, the uncensored video for this track is amongst my favourites of all time 5. Sash! - Mysterious Times my favourite of Sash!'s 3 1998 singles although all were excellent...this Tina Cousins featuring track is a classic dance song 6. Honeyz - End Of The Line I loved Finally Found but this was a tiny bit better 7. Robyn - Show Me Love great pop single from the now big popstar, this is an excellent forgotten top ten hit from the Max Martin stable 8. Spice Girls - Viva Forever their finest hour by far, I adore this string laden, latin tinged song 9. Aqua - Turn Back Time brilliant, still sounds fresh today, its simplicity is its genius, so much better than everything else they ever did 10. Boyzone - All That I Need will be an unpopular choice but this has always been one of my favourite track's from Boyzone, very uplifting mid-tempo pop song 11. Sarah McLachlan - Adia I could have picked any single from Surfacing really...Sweet Surrender, Building A Mystery and Angel are also classics but I love this one the most...should have been more than a top 20 hit... 12. B*Witched - To You I Belong after two very cheesy pop songs, this xmas ballad was gorgeous special mention to Savage Garden's Truly Madly Deeply, Alanis Morrissette's Thank U, Meja's All About The Money, Emilia's Big Big World, Jennifer Paige's Crush and Natalie Imbruglia's Big Mistake
October 25, 200816 yr I've never really taken to the music of 1998, it's weird...the two years either side have HUGE classics, but never really thought it about this year. I remember it being a year of loads and loads of girly acts (B*Witched, All Saints, Spice Girls, Cleopatra, etc, although 'Cest La Vie' is a guilty pleasure) and that bloody Celine Dion song I detested even as a 9 year old. It does have a few classics though, definitely agree with Cher and Stardust. These as well: Steps - Last Thing On My Mind/One For Sorrow/Tragedy Perpetual Motion - Keep On Dancing David Morales - Needin' U Dario G - Carnival De Paris Ruff Drivers - Dreaming Nalin & Kane - Beachball Agnelli & Nelson - El Nino Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar '98 Oasis - All Around The World Beautiful South - Perfect 10 Beastie Boys - Intergalactic Huge year for football songs too, Three Lions coming back, Vindaloo, and also two really quite good ones you rarely hear now, Dario G's 'Carnaval De Paris' and Jean Michel Jarre/Apollo 440's 'Rendez Vous 98'. Star of the year is easily Fatboy Slim, in the days when he made good records - Rockafeller Skank, Gangsta Trippin', Renegade Master and his remix of 'Body Movin' by the Beastie Boys being the standouts!
October 25, 200816 yr can't believe I forgot Energy 52 :o I adore that song, would be in my top 12 somewhere if I'd remembered, probably 4th

I left Vindaloo of for a start - which I love :D
