October 29, 200816 yr Author Well, since I don't have access to the raw data, Girls earns 37 points from being #14 on singles, and 47 points for being #4 on airplay. Added together, it's 84 points, which is the same number of points as Ne-Yo earns for Miss Independent and J-Hud, but because the UK is a sales-driven market, I've decided that songs on equal points should be graded by how high they are on sales. As for the version I based on the Hot 100, I simply added 5% to the points total on airplay and took away 5% from the sales points. Like I said, not very scientific, but you get the idea, and I doubt that the positions would vary much, even based on raw data....
October 29, 200816 yr They do a lot in the States as massive digital sales are dwarfing airplay, so you can be #1 on digital sales and #51 on airplay and still be #1 on the Hot100. It's a pity we didn't have access to the raw data for sales for the top 50 and airplay.
October 30, 200816 yr Author Wow. I really didn't know that. I guess I'm thinking of 5 years ago, where there were virtually NO sales in the whole of America. Still the point of this chart is combined sales and airplay - so I think i'll stick with 50-50 for now.

How the heck do you calculate MySpace or YouTube streams from the UK?
October 30, 200816 yr Author It'd be pretty much impossible. Short of asking MySpace and Google (who own YouTube) for the data, and I don't think they're likely to give it up.
