Also a new version of the track Perfect, labelled as an Alexandra Burke demo for Leona leaked.

SO MUCH better than the earlier version.

I'd actually really like if it did turn out to be a demo for Leona but clearly it's not with Alex singing it :kink:

Don't Let Me Down has grown on me but I still don't think it's even album-worthy in its current state. Needs a lot of tweaking and re-recording of vocals as her diction is really quite bad in it.
SIMON COWELL has called in cops after LEONA LEWIS's new track was leaked on to the internet.

The X Factor boss discovered his record company Syco's computers have been targeted by hackers on a mission to nick tracks.

Last month I told you how these leeches had got their grubby mitts on some unfinished tracks by last year's X Factor winner ALEXANDRA BURKE and had been touting them around as the finished article.

The truth is the songs were rough, unmastered recordings and may not even make it on to the album.

But this latest leak is the hotly-anticipated single from Leona Don't Let Me Down, a collaboration with JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.

The track is seriously being considered as the first release from her second album but it has found its way on to the web - and is the final straw for Cowell.

I always assumed songs that went missing were hard copies pinched from the studio.

But it turns out there is a whole underworld of techie criminals who hack into emails and servers to get hold of the sought-after new tracks.

It sounds like something out of Spooks.

These guys compete to be the first to get hold of a new song because there is huge kudos in it - and a shed load of cash to be made.

Dodgy file-sharing websites pay hackers top dollar for stolen tracks as they try to attract more downloaders to the site so they can rake in more money from advertisers.

The hackers put a bit of digital code - a geeky version of a graffiti tag - on to the tracks to prove they got there first when the track spreads like wildfire on the web.

A spokesman for Syco - part of Sony BMG - said: "Syco are working alongside the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, the British Phonographic Industry, the police and investigators in this and they are making fast progress.

"We will certainly look to bring charges against those who are responsible. We cannot give any more details at this stage for operational reasons."

I hope the police manage to bang the criminals up.

They ruin it for everyone.

It is always better to hear the finished version than a stolen demo.

Leona Lewis Leak Investigated

August 19, 2009 - Global | Legal and Management | Rock and Pop

By Andre Paine, London

Syco is working with the IFPI and the police to investigate the leak of unreleased songs including a new Leona Lewis track, "Don't Let Me Down," a collaboration with Justin Timberlake.

Lewis, the 2006 winner of the U.K. TV talent show "The X Factor," is set to release her second album in Q4 via Syco - Simon Cowell's label in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment - and J Records in the U.S.

According to a report in the Sun, the demo track was stolen from Syco's servers by hackers and has since leaked online. The paper said the ballad was being considered as her comeback single.

A Syco spokesperson said the track-listing for the album and the single release schedule are not yet confirmed.

"Don't Let Me Down" was produced by Timbaland and Justin Timberlake, who also provides vocals. It is currently being streamed on some music blogs and it is understood to have appeared on file-sharing networks.

It is believed that a number of tracks from Lewis and 2008 "X Factor" winner Alexandra Burke have leaked and that Syco is treating this targeted theft as a far more serious threat to its artists - and the whole industry - than previous leaks.

The IFPI has always stressed that the appearance of new music on P2P networks ahead of the official release is the most damaging aspect of file-sharing.

"IFPI is working with Syco and law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and Europe to trace the individuals who stole the Leona Lewis/Justin Timberlake track," said Jeremy Banks, head of IFPI's Internet anti-piracy unit.

"The police investigation is ongoing. Such pre-release leaks, however they are sourced, are highly damaging to our members who invest considerable budgets in marketing and promoting music ahead of release. We work closely with all our members to minimize the damage from such leaks and are actively monitoring and removing illegal copies of this track from the Internet to minimise the disruption caused by the leak."

"Syco are working alongside the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, the British Phonographic Industry, the police and investigators in this and they are making fast progress," said a statement from Syco. "We will certainly look to bring charges against those who are responsible. We cannot give any more details at this stage for operational reasons."

I really hope the lead single isn't a duet with JT, I can't stand most of his stuff ;(

Very nice and fair review of Don't Let Me Down by DigitalSpy:

When Leona met JT: What do we think?

As you may have heard, a new Leona Lewis track has leaked and no amount of mopping - even from Simon Cowell - is going to clear it from the internet floor. It's called 'Don't Let Me Down' and it's a collaboration with Justin Timberlake's production crew The Y's ('Love Sex Magic', 'Dead And Gone'), with JT providing backing vocals on the chorus.

Is it any good? Well yes, but it's a grower not a shower. To be precise, it's a subtly synthy R&B ballad whose chorus melody doesn't reveal its true loveliness until you've heard the song three or four times. The lyrics are all about mutual support and dependency, always a good theme for a ballad, and we especially like the way Leona sings this couplet: "I got my ear to the ground / That's the sound of my train comin' 'round." Of course, it almost goes without saying that her vocals are gorgeous throughout. Oh, and that the leaked version clearly isn't finished.

We'll get our wrists slapped if we tell you where to find it, but let's just say it's available in all the you-sual places. (Ho ho ho.)

Very nice review. It does say the truth about the song for me, I didn't enjoy it so much the first time, but after a few more listens I quite like it.
good song, like digital spy said, it's better after a few listens, but JT's parts are almost non existant :)
ive listened to it a few times now and im still finding it quite boring. I don't hate it, but i was expecting something a lot better, the worst of the leaked songs imo

Leona going to be very busy until XMas - "promo chock a block - massive schedule."

Imagine a global release is going to be pretty manic!

Fingers crossed!

Hope it's all spaced out well so they hit each country at the right time!

I'm not expecting #1 in America again or anything but hopefully it'll do good!

Considering the kinda people she's working with I don't think a #1 single or album is out of the question. Afterall, Bleeding Love was tested here first and the album was very much aimed at the UK market in my opinion, considering they went to the lengths of recording extra "American sounding" tracks for the US release shows that they needed to make it more appealling to the US. All things considered, now that she's a bonafide star, complete with #1's (singles and albums) in pretty much every country in the Western world I think her music is definitely going to be a lot more diverse than Spirit. :D

Lol very true.

I'm keeping my expectations lower though, even though it's all looking good! Just incase I couldn't handle it after the build-up if it all ended up disappointing :drama:

I'm not going to listen to any of this leaked music.

Leona will easily have a number one album in the US, the album market is dire there at the moment.

A number one single will be harder BEP's will probably still be number one ha.

Leona Lewis is 'Echo'-ing back

Simon Cowell protégée Leona Lewis has decided on a title and release date for her new album. Echo, the follow-up to Lewis' platinum-plus 2008 debut, Spirit, is due Nov. 17.

"An echo describes a big, organic sound," Lewis says of her choice.

Lewis is recording in various cities, including New York and Los Angeles. Though one track called Don't Let Me Down has leaked online, neither the lineup of songs nor the list of contributors has been finalized. "I'm working with incredible songwriters and producers, and my music has really evolved," Lewis says.

Ryan Tedder, who co-wrote and produced Lewis' chart-topping breakthrough hit, Bleeding Love, is one confirmed collaborator, and a number of top artists have joined her in the studio, including Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo and producer Timbaland.
