It will arrive digitally on December 2 and on CD and two different 7"s January 19 from Domino. Zane Lowe will premiere the single on his Radio 1 show on November 17. However, you can download parts of the tune through Beatportal.com right now for use in a remix competition they're holding in conjunction with the band. Tinkerers are invited to nab the track stems and turn in their own versions of the tune, which will then be voted on by Beatportal users. Franz themselves will rifle through the top picks and choose a few winners, which will see digital release the same day "Ulysses" hits shelves in January. Man, if you've ever wanted to impress somebody by telling them you took on "Ulysses", now might be the time. Tonight: Franz Ferdinand is due January 26 in the UK from Domino and the next day in the States from Domino USA/Epic. The band will embark on a brief European tour later this month, with dates (including a few new ones) to follow in Australia and New Zealand as 2008 becomes 2009. UK dates should be announced soon. Excited for this. I like 'Lucid Dreams' but I'm looking for something better on the lead single.
November 5, 200816 yr that cover is so $h!t lol. im thinking i might try the remix, always feel's werid without hearing the actual song first though, but makes it more interesting.
November 6, 200816 yr I adore that album cover. Simplistic in a glorious way. Franz always have such styleeee with everything they do, srsly. Their communist inspired art is crazy good. Anyhoo, extremely excited for the album.
November 6, 200816 yr Great album cover. I assume the lead single is based on some literature: either the Tennyson poem or Joyce novel. Both quite brilliant <3 Clever Franz
November 6, 200816 yr Have you ever heard their song 'Love and Destroy'? Tis based on the Russian formalist novel 'The Master and Margarita' by Mikhail Bulgakov; tis quite nice / clever / good.
November 6, 200816 yr A live performance of Ulysses: z_33WRDlAik Sounding good, im looking forawrd to hearing the rest of the album, doesnt sound like their going to dissapoint us (yet again).
November 13, 200816 yr A flop is in store I fear :o Their last album sold very poorly didn't it despite reaching no1? I really like them though and this whole project looks very interesting. ^_^
November 13, 200816 yr 'Ulysses' promos have now been sent out. VERY nice indeed :o Really? By Domino? Can't say I've seen one...
November 14, 200816 yr I can't make my mind up on Ulysses... i've listened to it a couple of times and it's a bit MEH. I'm hoping it will grow however.
November 17, 200816 yr I thought it was one of the mixes someone had made at first with the way it starts but after a couple of listens I'm liking it so far :D
November 18, 200816 yr Great to hear it properly - the mp3 that was buzzing around the world was just built from the parts...just not really in the right order! Not the greatest song they've done but it's still fantastic.
