Mmm so why hasn't it sold well? Well why hasn't any decent pop album of 2008 sold well? Mariah could've even manage 2 million worldwide, Madge just did slightly over 3. The music business is suffering, its not so much because of the content of the album. You say you mates hated it, i can argue and say my mates loved it! Its a matter of opinion. Hard Candy hasn't done as well because of the overall market, not because it was c**p! And besides, its done well according to the world music awards and the official statistics where HC is the overall 3rd best-selling album of 2008 and the best-selling international album! :)

The statistics you have quoted are worldwide..where arguably it has done better. However, the reason I think it hasnt done well in the UK isnt because of the market but more about the fact its a very urban sounding album - which will appeal to the likes of the American market but hasnt worked well here in the UK.

Your argurement is so flawed. Hard Candy is one of her lowest sellers but still the 3rd best IN THE WORLD sales wise. Hardly a bad seller. You asked why Madonnas new album was selling so bad. Question is why is Mariah selling so bad ?. Evn in her main market she flopping esp with the singles. Why do you think this is.

I hardly think my argument is flawed. Its just my opinion, just like you have your own opinion. Also, my argument isnt about Mariah, its about Hard Candy. It might have sold 3 million worldwide but thats still makes it one of her lowest selling albums worldwide compared to her other albums. American Life did 5 million worldwide in comparison. And you can't argue that there are alot of other artists who have released albums recently which have done much better than hard candy. Even X by Kylie has sold over 450k.

Yes Kylie outsold Madonna but only in the UK. Noone is denying its her lowest selling but its hardly a flop considering sales overall wordwide. Ameican Life was about 4 million but the album market has changed so much since then. Duffy and Leona are selling more becuase of them being new and fresh artists. Not to mention her again but isnt Mariah having one of her lowest selling albums now too.

I never said it was a flop...but you have to admit, it hasnt sold well and has underperformed in the UK & USA. Even though its sold 3 million worldwide, overall I'm sure it must be her lowest album seller worldwide. You are right - Mariah hasnt done well neither but I dont really care much for her and havent done for a long time. Ive been a Madonna fan since she started and I am disappointed she opted for an urban sounding album, which sounds like it could be beyonce, rihanna or anyone similar. Confessions on a dancefloor is a masterpiece in comparison to hard candy. Its fresh and musically one of Madonna's strongest albums. In comparison, Hard candy is weak and out of touch with what many of her fans wanted or expected from a follow-up.

We agree on something lol. Ive loved Madonna since I can remember and even I think Hard Candy is a very weak album. I still dont think its sold badly but I def think its underperformed in the UK and USA. I just think she went for an urban sound to get bk into the american market since sales for her have been low quite recently. Yes I know Hard Candy is pop/urban but it just doesnt suit her in my opinion. And dont even get me started on here image as of late lol
