November 9, 200816 yr Well I still think Spurs payed WELL over the odds for him... He's in good form at the moment over the past couple of weeks, but still, it's taken a couple of years just for him to come into form!

He's in good form at the moment over the past couple of weeks, but still, it's taken a couple of years just for him to come into form! Bent was unlucky last season First of all with injuries that troubled him a lot of the season and also the fact that Berbs and Keane struck up such a partnership so Bent was restricted when fit to 15 min cameos so now he is getting an extended run he is showing us the Bent he was at Charlton
November 9, 200816 yr Bent was unlucky last season First of all with injuries that troubled him a lot of the season and also the fact that Berbs and Keane struck up such a partnership so Bent was restricted when fit to 15 min cameos so now he is getting an extended run he is showing us the Bent he was at Charlton He's a good player, but Berbatov and Keane are much much better. I think he's doing well at the moment because of Redknapp, who was obviously put a lot of confidence into the guy. I always thought he was overrated at Charlton, and it's just another case of inflation with players, all because they're English. When if you scouted Europe, you could probably find exactly the same sort of player for about 10m cheaper.
November 9, 200816 yr I always knew Bent was good. Anyone who can score over 15 in a season for a relegated team is clearly good, I think anyone coming in behind Berb, Keane and Defoe would struggle! Another point, he played for Charlton on his own most of the time, whenever he played last season he played with a partner.
November 9, 200816 yr to be fair he's better value than the overhyped Pavyluchenko. Just needs a good run of games, and he'll be off. I wonder if Capello will play him as he said he was going to experiment more in the friendlies before the next WC qualifier.
November 9, 200816 yr Well I still think Spurs payed WELL over the odds for him... Have they though, really? When you see that they paid £14m for Pavlyuchenko, Bolton paid £10m for Elmander and Man City paid £18m for Jo and £10m for Benjani I don't think it's that bad value... When there was talk of Ashton moving they were talking of £15m+ for him too, he's not as good as Bent.

Maybe not at the moment, but the payed a LOT more than they should have done. Sorry, but the only reason he went for £20m at the time was because of his nationality. If Bent was Swedish (for example) he'd have gone for a lot cheaper.
November 9, 200816 yr Author Way too harsh on Pav The Russian season is not like the English season time wise, he has just finished a complete Russian season and joined Spurs with 1 game to go in the season so he is now having to play pretty much a full English season after a Russian one without a break, other players get 3 months off Pav has had ZERO time off, he must be dog tired, it will be next season before he shows his true ability

I still think Pavlychenko is a bit overrated, but he has just played a full season and also in the Euros. If that's the case, then maybe it'd just be better to give him a week or two off... I know it's not ideal, and Spurs are at the wrong end of the table at the moment, but still. Again, I still think Spurs payed over the odds for him, but then again, I said the same thing when Liverpool bought Torres.
November 10, 200816 yr Whilst he's good, I still don't reckon that he's worth more than Henry (who was sold for half a million cheaper the day before).
November 10, 200816 yr with him not having the summer off though, he should be match fit still and ready to go :P The Russian league is hardly as physical as the PL.
