Rock Boy really reminds me of Do Somethin' aswell - except I think Rock Boy is really good, whereas Do Somethin' I found average, and at times, quite annoying. I'm maybe just pissed it got released over I've Just Begun

It reminds me of that Zoey 101 episode where they are Logans cheerleaders and are liek "get up get up get up".

Oh, I like both to be honest. "Rock Boy" is such a grower, "Do Somethin" as well... I remember when I bought "My Prerogative: Greatest Hits" back in 2004 and listened to "Do Somethin" for the first time (I hadn't listened to any leaks) I was so disappointed, I wasn't sure why she'd record such a mess of a song. And then I ended up loving it, but it's true that "I've Just Begun (Having My Fun)" was screaming for a release!

Do Somethin' is one of my favorite Britney singles! :D I don't think Rock Boy is nearly as good at all.

My track by track review of the album Circus:

Womanizer - The lead single & opening track. One of the most addictyively catchy hooks you will hear in a song this year. 9/10

Circus - Another very catchy effort with a killer chorus with insightful lyrics. 9/10

Out From Under - Oh a ballad which is something absent from Blackout. A case of a forgettable verse and a killer chorus. Reminds me of Brandy's Almost Doesn't Count probably due to it being written by the same songwriter. 8/10

Kill The Lights - A fantastic Danja production which made Blackout her best album IMHO. This just HAS to be a single. 10/10

Shattered Glass - Like the title track another Dr Luke production. Not so strangely it reminds me of earlier Britney. 7/10

If You Seek Amy - Talking old Britney this is a Max Martin production. But it is a classic catchy effort yet strangely reminding me of Crazy Frog (but in a good way) 9/10

Unusual You - This moody track reminds me of Gwen Stefani (Cool, Early Winter), but is not the strongest track on the album. 7/10

Blur - Another superior Danja production. Musically this reminds me of Michael Jackson's Stranger In Moscow. With very similar sad lyrics. 9/10

Mmm Papi - Oh dear. The first dud on the album. A not very strong song and musically a mess with an annoying chorus. 4/10

Mannequin - Oh dear 2. The best thing I can say about this track is it is trying something different, but to me it sounds like a bad electro Akon track. 5/10

Lace And Leather - A nice 1980s Prince style guitar/synth driven homage. Sadly the song is not as good to match. 7/10

My Baby - This albums attempt at the sappy falsetto ballad. Sadly not as effective nor in the same league as Everytime. 6/10

Radar - ?????? This was on Blackout, so why is it on this album as well in a marginally different remix? A very good track, by I wanted to hear something new. 8/10

Amnesia - As Vanessa Williams once sung Save The The Best To Last. A very 1980s production reminiscence of Lady GaGa. This tune is ridiculously catchy. Please let this be a single. [10/10]

My Conclusion: Not as good as her previous album Blackout (which I regard as her best album to date & one of the greatest pop albums of the 2000s). But this album is not far behind, only due to the run of tracks from 9-12 showing a dip in quality.

1. Womanizer 9/10

The opening track and lead single. Not as strong as Gimme More, but still fairly strong. Possibly a fave lead single.

02. Circus 9/10

Absolutely wonderful. With the mini breakdown bit. Wow, I adore it.

03. Out From Under 9/10

The first proper Britney ballad in a long time, it's taken me a while to get into it, but I adore it now.

04. Kill The Lights 7/10

Not a bad song, just one I usually skip and becomes quite forgetful.

05. Shattered Glass 5/10

It's such a pointless 2 minutes..It doesn't really go anywhere imo.

06. If U Seek Amy 10/10

Yes! Yes! Yes! Phonetically very clever, without the phonetics it doesn't make too much sense. But when do songs nowadays make sense? I think it's a Part II to baby one more time with the repetition of baby, baby.

07. Unusual You 10/10

A slower tune and possibly one of my faviourites. So angelic and beautiful and catchy.

08. Blur 7/10

The second offering from Danja, reminds me of the demo Hooked On (Sugarfall). It's quite artistic and vocally gives a glimpse of desperation. It's very much "Love it/hate it" for me.

09. Mmh Papi 9/10

This song is pure crazy and tbh I can't get enough of it.

10. Mannequin 10/10

This is, in my opinion, Britney's best song ever recorded. The breakdown, the overproduced vocals and to top it of, she has a Dory-The-Fish doing whale talk doing background vocals. Absoulutely superb. Cannot wait to see this one on the tour.

11. Lace & Leather 4/10

Always skip it. Seems pointless

12. My Baby 10/10

Such a beautiful song. Not as powerful as Everytime, but still an emotional number.

13. Radar 9/10

Still a good song. Shoulda been the single instead of Break The Ice.

14. Amnesia 10/10

Why the hell wasn't this on the album instead of L&L or SG I don't know. A very catchy song.

15. Rock Me In 8/10

I love this tune, really catchy and I love the end 30 seconds.

16. Phonography 6/10

I can see why this is a bonus track, it seems to just go on and never reach anywhere.

17. Trouble 7/10

This song is growing on me more and more. But still seems quite poor (chorus-wise)

18. Quicksand 10/10

Why wasn't it on the album? This is pure WOW. Apart from too much vocals from Lady Gaga, its absolutely amazing.

19. Rock Boy 7/10

This is a love/hate song with me..sometimes I love it, sometimes I don't.

The album is very natural. I don't understand some of the tracks missing the main cut and others making it. But that's the industry in general for you, isn't it? The album gets a solid 9.5/10 from me. It's not as strong as In The Zone, but this is her comeback and tbh this time around, I'm seeing her. So what? ^_^

FINALLY!!! someone who loves mannequin as much as I do! it's such a f*cking great track

I don't get what so amazing about amnesia

Edited by sjoerd..

I love it too, at first it seemed a bit $h!t but once you look into it, the production and the vocals are perfect its just the chorus that still seems to let it down a bit but still amazing.

Have you heard Phonography? It's my fave of the era...and you didn't rate :o

And I also think Mannequin is amazing sjoerd, definitely in my top 3 faves from the album (Phonography, Circus, Mannequin)

There's nothing sad about the lyrics at all! It's about a comedown, presumably a hangover...

Agree Mannequin is now for me in top 5 best songs in album.

I can't believe how low you've rated SG, Phonography & L&L Dan :o

Whilst I disagree with those, and this 'amazingness' of Amnesia everyone seems to have (I just don't get it? Can someone explain to me what makes it any good?! I think only sjoerd and I have expressed dislike for it ... what are we missing, gang?) I have to agree on Mannequin (just fabulous), and Unusual You - I've been looking for a word to describe it for a week now, angelic is it!

I love the 80's vibe Amnesia has, and the chorus is so f***ing catchy! I love it!

That's exactly why I love it!!! :w00t:

I've realised Amnesia is a bit empty. A little bit tinny. Can see why it didn't make it...

Quicksand on the other hand is sexiful.
