November 16, 200816 yr Does anyone know what weekly sales are like for compilation albums? For example, roughly how many copies would be sold for a compilation to get to #1, #20 or #40? Thanks It`s inconsistent Danny. For instance, next week Now 71 will take around 300,000 copies. But on another occasion it will be as little as 20,000 or even less, for the number one Compilation. That goes for the full Compilation chart. Many people know that I (for one), was rather annoyed when the Compilations were dropped from the main album chart. That`s why I always put them in, when I put up an Album chart. Like we say, an Album is an Album (Compilation, or Artist).
November 16, 200816 yr Author ahh that's interesting thanks... don't suppose you have any weekly sales figures for a few of the recent compilations (through out the top 40)? Would be interested to see
November 16, 200816 yr In the overall Combined Albums chart, compilations account for 6 of the top 20 so that will give some idea how sales are at the top end of the compilations chart. In all there are 19 compilation albums in the Combined Albums top 75.
