i agree its a great song and a great choice for 2nd single and should do well,,,also it should give the album a much needed sales boost

yep! the album is now #11 in the YTD so its doing pretty good.

But the single will boost the sales more ;) its #31 in the uk airplay up from #60 which is good.

I highly doubt it will be as high by the the end of the year (the only point when quoting the YTD has much credibility) after all the albums at the top of the chart approaching the Xmas/Year end shift a major slice of TOTAL yearly album sales, considering DOYS recent chart trajectory (which needs more than the excuse of "Xmas sales" pushing it down). Mentioning which i find it surprising this has had no mention on this forum yet or is your fanatiscism such that significant negative events are ignored and the truth is denied?

Is the single different enough to a appeal to a new audience beyond the usual Oasis sound to REVERSE (as oposed to slow down) the collapse of the album's sales over the last couple of weeks? (just like a less acute version of the last single's 'chart plummet' - i suspect Oasis' appeal among the general buying music public is from the dedicated (stadia filling) fan base they have formed through their previous remarkable longterm success rather than any casual buyers/ new fans)

nah i can see them ending up top12 easily if not top 10... they will shift a good amount through christmas..they are still shifting 10k weekly and when the single is out next week we will see the album back in the top30.. and people will pick this up for christmas its only been out for a little over 7weeks so its relatively still new..the album is nowhere over yet...they still have a 3rd single too to be released.

I've now not got a clue where this is gonna chart!!! Take That have secured No.1 this week and I can't guess if 'I'm Outta Time's' gonna hit Top 3, Top 10 or top 15 next week!!!!

It'll always be No.1 in my books!!

After 2 days sales it's looking like borderline Top 10!!!!

If you discount 'Lord..... which was a 'download only' release last year, this'll be Oasis' worst chart position for a single in 14 yrs!!!! :o

We're down to provisional Top 15 Peeps!!!!

We tried our best...I bought the 7 inch single and the CD!!

we live in different times i suposse...

btw , the album climp again in the charts

its strange how this single has gone,,i expected a top 10 hit then it was number 1 in the first midweeks and is now looking like it could miss the top 10,,on a brighter note its helping sell the album again

Hi Feel_The_Fever,

As far as I know there was a mistake on the first update on Tuesday and the sales were for physicals only...hence Oasis were sitting provisionally at No. 1 :o

Friday has 'I'm Outta Time' sitting at No 11.

deserves to be #1 if it was only physicals this would have been #1 :(

... though the album shooots up to #25 :o ;) (this by far more important)

money is generated far more from albums than singles...

for a band that have sold 7million singles and over 13million albums in the UK alone they have done things that not many bands have done.

Hi Jez, I agree to some extent. But the album will probably drop back next week and when it comes to money generated, I'm not sure if this is really relevant to the boys.

Regarding their album and single sales, I absolutely agree. No matter what happens now, Oasis will be one of the biggest British bands in chart history!!!!

On a downside it looks like 'Dig Out Your Soul' will be the only Oasis studio album to have only 1 Top 10 hit to it's credit!! :(

The end of an era???

this is a far better single than the shock of lightning and it doesnt deserve to ,miss the top 10 and i cant see it climbing which means its their first non top 10 hit for many a year

Yep you're correct Feel_The_Fever

Only their first 2 releases missed the Top 10

Supersonic (April '94) reached No.31

Shakermaker (July '94) reached No.11

That's why I asked...Is this the end of an era????
