A report in the Star :rolleyes: , claims that Simon Cowell is planning to dump Dannii Minogue and replace her with the pop superstar. The supremo is said to have held top secret talks with Robbie about joining the judging panel of the X Factor next year. An insider source said: "Robbie is perfect for the job and Simon is confident that he is going to get him to sign. "Dannii has had a good couple of years on the show, but Simon wants to revamp the panel. "Robbie's cheeky attitude and success in the business make him the perfect candidate." The move would see the return of Robbie to UK television. The 34-year-old star has been largely out of the public eye since the release of his disappointing album Rudebox in 2006. Williams, who is based in Los Angeles, is planning to release a new album next year and a move back to the UK would definitely see the singer return from the showbiz wilderness. Dannii Minogue has repeatedly said that she has been offered a new contract by Cowell to appear on next year's show but rumours that she is to be given the axe continue to appear in the media. She had another bad week after an on-air fight during Saturday's show with Louis Walsh left her in tears. And then Dannii saw another of her acts, Rachel Hylton, get eliminated from the contest.

It’s not true! Whilst many would love to see Robbie sat on the judging panel the reality of it is it is just a rumour, and no, Dannii is not set to be replaced! Sorry Robbie fans! :(

It has been reported that the pop superstar was so impressed with Ruth's version of his song Angels that he has been continually watching a recording of her performance. Robbie's best pal Jonathan Wilkes told Ruth that Williams is now her biggest fan. He said: "Robbie has been watching the X Factor and loved your performance of Angels - he was rewinding it again and again and was genuinely very, very impressed." Speaking to the Star, Ruth said: "I just can't believe it, to have Robbie as a fan is absolutely unbelievable. "It's been a difficult couple of weeks, with Laura going out it has got tough. "It was awful to see Laura go but I was grateful the judges voted to keep me in. "But I feel like some of my best performances have come when I've had to sing for survival." She added: "To think that Robbie Williams has been watching me makes me feel truly blessed...one day I hope to meet Robbie, he is huge." Ruth also confessed that she and Alexandra have become bosom buddies in the X Factor house. She said: "We are the best of friends and spend every minute with each other. "I am always borrowing Alex's make-up - and we even share underwear - but I don't think we'll ever end up sharing boys!" Ruth denied that there had been any problems with mentor Dannii Minogue, she said: "Dannii is absolutely brilliant - and none of us has had any bad words to say about her."
