December 1, 200816 yr I can't believe there isn't a bigger fuss about this. This whole affair is outrageous, why are the public standing for it? See my post above mate... We're totally apathetic in this country.... WAY too tolerant of this Sh"t..... We shouldn't be, we should be more like the French in this respect and call the State and the Police to account for their actions a damn sight more than we do....
December 1, 200816 yr This is out of order, The leaks being investigated are below…………….. The leaks are thought have included the disclosure that 5,000 illegal immigrants were working as security guards and bouncers; news that an illegal immigrant was employed as a cleaner in the House of Commons; a whip's list of potential Labour rebels against 42-day detention for terror suspects; and a letter from Ms Smith to Mr Brown warning that the recession would spark a rise in crime. Dissident civil servants have been leaking government documents to members of the opposition since the Xerox corporation manufactured the first photocopier in 1949. A more recent example, there is the leading Labour politician - one Gordon Brown - who made his name in the 1990s by skilfully exploiting the many Whitehall documents that fell into his hands during the Thatcher and Major governments. The young Brown would stand in the Commons waving leaked Treasury papers in the reddened faces of Tory Ministers. Under Prime Minister Brown, he would have had the anti-terror unit coming through his door. I could just about accept if it if the leaks were threatening to National Security, eg names & addresses of MI5 officers, lists of nuclear missiles etc etc. but for the ones quoted, come on. And this is information that the public has every right to know about I reckon.... And indeed, Gordy Broon DID make his name by routinely embarrassing the Tory Govt of the day with leaked Whitehall documents... David Cameron is absolutely correct to point out Broon's hypocrisy.... And I just do NOT believe for a minute that Jacqui Smith as the HOME SECRETARY would not have known that the Police were going to target Green in this manner.. Don't buy it... At all... She's another fukkin' lying soon-to-be-ex Home Secretary.....
December 1, 200816 yr And yet again, Rob the apologist for the Nu Labor fascist state.... You are such a hyporcrite... If this had been the height of Thatcherism and this had happened to someon like John Prescott or Tony Benn, you'd be up in arms about it yourself, and you damn well know it, you'd be saying exactly the same things me, Craig and Kindagood are saying... There have been NO charges made against Green, I think that says it all tbh... Such is the atmosphere in Fascist Police State Britain in 2008, that Green and other prominent Opposition critics of the Govt are actually routinely sweeping their offices for bugs and recording devices... We seriously need to start asking ourselves, is THIS the sort of society we want to live in... I for one, certainly do NOT.... im not.... im just saying that as see it atm the issue is rather clouded, and ill refrain for commenting until theres something concrete to comment on... atm it appears to be speculation :)
December 1, 200816 yr im not.... im just saying that as see it atm the issue is rather clouded, and ill refrain for commenting until theres something concrete to comment on... I would say that Green having his home, offices and mobile phone ransacked, being questioned for NINE HOURS without charge are all pretty damned concrete things to go on, it's as clear cut a case of intimidation, harrassment and flagrant abuse of authority and the "anti terror" laws as I've seen... And all against a guy who was basically doing his job as an Opposition MP, just as Gordy did back in the day when he was embarrassing the Major Govt... Green and others sweeping their offices for bugs on a regular basis is no "speculation" either, it's happening mate... The atmosphere in this country post-9/11 is frankly disturbing... Our so-called "democratically elected" officials are actually doing the Terrorists' job for them if they could only step back and see the fact.... Al Qaeda wants to destroy our very democracy, our freedoms, our liberties our civil rights... Well, they really dont need to do a fukkin' thing in order to achieve this do they...? Our fukkin' GOVERNMENT with its ever-increasingly draconian laws are achieving the Terrorists' aims.... Well done Nu Labor.... Fukkin' traitors.... <_<

December 2, 200816 yr Even Tony Benn probably the most left wing politician of the last 30-40 years has come out against it, when an extreme left winger (a man of principle who I admire) sides with the tories you know Labour have fukked up

December 3, 200816 yr The Speaker revealed today that the police did not have a warrant to search Green's Commons office. The House authorities simply assumed (not entirely unreasonably) that they did have a warrant. That is a serious breach of the usual process by the Met.
December 3, 200816 yr Author The Speaker revealed today that the police did not have a warrant to search Green's Commons office. The House authorities simply assumed (not entirely unreasonably) that they did have a warrant. That is a serious breach of the usual process by the Met. Not only that but the police had a duty to inform the official they approached that they could be refused permission to search in the commons and they failed to do that. read this for the full story http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7762005.stm Yet again another example of the Met bending rules to suit themselves, which is something people upholding the law should not be doing.... they should be an example for us, and not hell bent on getting results at the expense of due process
December 5, 200816 yr id suggest though that maybe they had reason to 'ransack his offices for 9 hours' ... lol.. Er, without a warrant...? Dont talk bollocks.... Yeah, they had such a good reason didn't they, they knew DAMN FINE that no judge was gonna officially sign off on a warrant.... The Speaker should have told PC Plod to "P!ss Off" and come back when they actually had a search warrant and some actual probable cause to search Green's offices.... As Dave Davis said, if it was a matter of National Security, things would've been done a LOT more covertly, and more likely by officers from MI5 or Special Branch, NOT a bunch of fukkin' PLODS.....
December 5, 200816 yr The Speaker revealed today that the police did not have a warrant to search Green's Commons office. The House authorities simply assumed (not entirely unreasonably) that they did have a warrant. That is a serious breach of the usual process by the Met. The Speaker should've bloody well ASKED to see a warrant, not just let them in and assume they had a right to be there, it's his bloody JOB to maintain the integrity of Parliament processes... The guy is clearly incompetent and should go. Immediately... Of course, this actually brings up a wider issue dunnit...? The fact that the Police can now seemingly assume that they can go anywhere they like, and do anything they want without the proper Search warrants, etc, I think says everything about the way our society is going.... We should all be very concerned about this, because a very dangerous precedent has been set here.... How ironic really isn't it...? The State opening of Parliament refers back to a time in history when King Charles sent his guards to arrest 5 members of Parliament, and was refused entry or leave to do so... Now, we seem to just let the bloody Filth come into Parliament and do what they like, including arresting democratically elected MPs merely for doing their jobs and standing up to a Govt which is acting a hell of a lot LIKE some Feudal Monarchy or tin-pot dictatorship.....
December 5, 200816 yr tony benn would oppose it wouldnt he!.... Geez, man what kind of answer is that....? Tony Benn has probably forgotten more about the Democratic and Parliamentrary processes of this land than you or I will ever even KNOW. The man is one of the most intelligent, capable, articulate and principled people to ever hold public office, he is a man of honour (remember when Politicians actually had this quality...?) whom I truly admire... He stands for the REAL Labour values, values of a fairer, more just society; the sort of values that YOU probably voted for in '97 but seem to have utterly forgotten about. Tony Benn siding with the Tories would've been utterly unthinkable 20 years or even a decade ago... Which proves just how much water really has gone under the bridge in the 00s... And you totally fail to recognise that there is a very, very real consensus of opinion on this issue from both the Left and Right wing press.. Everyone from The Morning Star to the Daily Mail, and pretty much everyone inbetween, has completely condemned this utter abuse of authority.... WAKE UP.....

December 5, 200816 yr yeah it was quite lazy wasnt it...lol Indeed... Never mind... It does seem now that in light of the facts that PC Plod and Inspector Knacker never had a bloody valid search warrant, that you are now coming round to mine, Craig's and Kindagood's camp on this..... Mr Speaker, however, needs to be sacked... There is no way in HELL Betty Boothroyd would've put up with this nonsense from the coppers.... She was a formidable Lady Speaker who took absolutely NO cr@p from anyone, and wasn't afraid to put these buggers in their places when they needed it....
