Hardly anyone thought the promise would be no1 but look what happened lol

Yeah but that was down to X Factor!

The Promise was always going to be number 1 with the xfactor or not.

It wouldnt still be top 20 now if that wasnt true.

have to disagree with you there ^

anyway... loving kind looks like another top 10 for them!

Gotta love TLK! Wish they stop at this single like what they did in Tangled Up (just 2). :)

Didn't they release 3 from Tangled Up? Sexy No No No, Call The Shots and Can't Speak French.

only TSOGA has 2 singles.. SKO n ITWAN...

Tangled Up had 3 - Sexy! No No No (Sept) Call The Shots (Nov) and Cant Speak French!

If it wasn't for the X Factor and Cheryl being in the public eye a little more, the promise wouldn't have got to number 1 or the album thinking about it.
The xfactor simply opened a lot of peoples eyes to their amazingness but as the only GA song to go A-list on r1 and r2, it was always gona be number in my opinion.

What with Dannii Minogue flopping BIT TIME last year with her single while SHE was the new exciting judge of the pannel ?

What with Will Young, Leon Jackson, Britney Spears and most other performers who were FAR from being #1 despite performing on the show ?

I'm tired of reading their success is due to Cheryl's involvement in the X Factor !

The Promise was just DAMN catchy and a f***ing good song, and the fact it has sold over 300.000 copies in less than two months should be enough to prove it isn't down to Cheryl's position.

And same with the album.

Oops, I missed Sexy No,No,No... never mind, solved :)

VERY well said.

<_< Promise was a very good song. This one doesn't do a thing for me. Quite boring for me.... I give them a Top 10, as they seem every time to get it, but i hope it sleeps very quick out of top 40 ....

I agree, except for the highlighted name. If I remember, her performanced bumped up on iTunes from 8-3.

Just because a song is still in the top 20 it must have been no1 not because it was on Xfactor? There is no logic in your argument

You can't prove anything either way. None of their other songs have been that successful (other than their previous talent show involvement)- wouldn't that suggest XF/Cheryl have something to do with it? It's a good thing though, it's giving them a real boost in popularity. Have already commented where i think TLK will land, so sticking by it (whatever the reasons may be)

The people who put top100 or wouldn't chart are wrong already!

Well, explain why Cheryl's popularity isn't enough for TLK to be a huge hit this time around then ?

Funny it did wonders for "The Promise" but nothing for "The Loving Kind" (since it looks likely to miss the top10)...

And Call The Shots sold 250k one year ago, Something Kinda Oooh 200k two years ago. So it's not like it is the only time they have a big hit since "SOTU".

Yeah, but she wasn't close to make it to the top spot on the official chart. Her X Factor performance was the most awaited, advertised and (surely) watched one of the year, so if it wasn't enough to get her to #1, then people should think twice before stating the X Factor was the only reason for The Promise to be #1 with sales close to 80k...

Hello there, only my second post. Not a massive GA fan but I loved The Promise from the first time I heard it. Don't think you can put it's success down to Cheryl on the X Factor, just a damn good song. Don't think The Loving Kind is as good though or as instantly catchy, and I say this as a massive PSB fan. Bound to go top ten though as they're massive at the moment so I'm going to make a stab at a peak of number 4.

Hi you ! Good post :cheer:

We have a GA forum on buzzjack, feel free to visit it anytime  ;)

I'm predicting Top 10 (I recon it'll peak at 6) but Top 5 is definitely not out of reach...
