Hope it misses the top ten but think it will squeeze in. Not much else around to stop it.

Is a decent song but pretty average compared to The Promise and their other classics.

Their album has been massive (for them and generally) so why be bothered with top ten for a follow up single. In fact they are bigger than they have ever been.

Coz i'd like them to have 20 consecutive top ten hits!!

*Sigh* Their consecutive run was already officially ended, but that's a tired old argument...

A little late picking up on this thread, would probably have voted that it would scrape a top ten placing had I voted last month, but now I think it'll just miss the top 10.

It might not officially be 20 consecutive top tens but fact of the matter is, thats what it would publicly be known as. I dont really care whats written down on a piece of paper, i care about what the public actually knows.

Exactly. It's a major accredit to have.

it is technically will be 20 top 10 SINGLES. St.Trinians wasn't a single

The public dont recognise it because everyone knows st trinians was not a proper single and was never intended to be. It was done for a film.

Basically when someone says GA have had 19 consecutive top tens, they are just avoiding being pedantic. Its a bit like having a big swimming pool full of blue balls but theres one bluey/green ball in one corner and someone says look at my pool full of blue balls - but there will always be one little annoying twirp that has to say, that ones more turqoise than blue lol

So, Single Ladies cannot be considered as a top 10 in Beyonce's career?? It's just an album track...

And if Poker Face reaches top 10 next week we couldn't say it's a top 10 as it's not a proper single in the UK and just an album track...

The funniest thing of all it's that, had TTTST be top 10, ALL fans would be considering it as another of their consecutive top 10!! And you ALL know that.

That thing about "proper single", "song from a movie", "didn't have a physical release" it's just bull$h!t nowadays when the physicak singles market is almost dead and EVERY song can chart nowadays thanks to downloads, it don't matter if it's a proper single or not.

And how a song that is not even meant to be a single and chart even have a videoclip????

That song broke the record, the fans like it or not.

Edited by rub

it'll be their 20th offical single release top 10 no questions!

they have had another song chart, with a video, from a film, that was download only!

its just a fact, people cant take away from the fact that of the 19 songs they've released physically from albums they promoted the songs on tv is an achievement!

and i was pleased they got a number 51 from st trillians! was an achievment!

they will get their 20th fingers crossed, and consecutive or not 20 is a great achievement! and lets not get into the big debate, people do it to rile GA fans!!! the media will write 20 number 1s and its what the general public will hear and know and because of it they will be plugged as the most succesful girl band etc!

It did not break the record of the singles, that is still as of yet untouched.

Beyonce - Single Ladies is a further Top 10 for her but it won't be recognised as an official single, it was a b-side/album track that got heavy TV/Radio airplay.

It's all about knowing the rules between singles to album tracks/b-sides/and any other such tracks.

LOL.

Maybe 10 songs out of 40 in the UK top 40 are download only... but they cannot be considered as singles!!! There will come a day soon when any of the songs in the chart could be considered a single if we take your words!

And please... don't make me laugh with that "the most succesful girlband" stuff. I'm not even goin to mention sales outside the UK, i don't want to embarras GA fans, but in the UK, The Spice Girls and the Sugababes have sold a lot more albums than GA. Even All Saints are close with just 3 albums (not to mention the success of their latest album)...

So, please stop that joke of the "mist succesful girlband".

Oh, listen to negative Nancy. ^

He was obviously saying "most successful" as in terms of Top 10's.

Why come into a GA thread if you were to just slag them off?

i said clearly they would be "plugged as the most succesful girl band" dont really matter what u say in a forum about worldwide sales blah blah blah, the media will pick up the run of top 10s like they already do, and the record company will PLUG them as the most succesful girl band!...

I've bought this. 3rd GA single i've ever bought (after SKO and DSF). I mainly got it for the megamix, but every little goes towards helping them make then top 10 :P

It should be #1, but i've voted top 10. I think it will peak about #7. I huge shame :( I have a feeling it will do a CSF though and hang around for eternity and end up selling loads

What people dont seem to be able to get into their heads about this everytime this comes up is that when on tv, they say GA have had 19 consecutive top tens. When they say it. its supposed to be like an achievement. They are prasing girls aloud because every physical song that they have released has gone top ten.

The fact that st trinians charted in the top 75 should not end any record because it was another achievement! It wasn't a flop, it was because one of their songs was downloaded on mass.

Despite maybe not being official, the public consider that all single campaign songs with physical releases etc have all gone top ten. Thats all that matters to most people.

Er...Single Ladies is recognised and promoted as a single release. It has a single cover doesn't it? Though whoever mentioned songs being download only as not being singles is mistaken since they can be promoted and released as such.

Anyway, St. Trinian's is hardly viewed as an actual Girls Aloud release and anyone to suggest so clearly does it to cause a reaction from Girls Aloud fans. Are we therefore now including the server 200-100 placings of songs from say Arctic Monkey's in their singles chart run? You can believe whatever you like if that makes you happy but at the end of the day no press article or publication is ever going to agree and recognise that as part of their string of releases.

Going with your way, they STILL hold the record for consecutive Top 10s and have done since the charting of See The Day in 2005. All the releases since are a bonus. Their record is actually certified by Guiness World Records (and they do not acknowledge St. Trinians either).

As for the "who is the biggest girl group?" argument - you are mistaken to believe Sugababes have sold tonnes more! They have not. Girls Aloud have sold more singles and with fewer releases, being less than a million sales behind overall with one album less than Sugababes. Worldwide? Does anyone actually care when the markets Sugababes sell in have remained untapped by Girls Aloud or are so small it seems pointless to consider! What's more, Girls Aloud have had three sell out arena tours, a sell out theatre tour and sold out their latest dates at Europe's two largest indoor arenas (MEN and O2) in less than 20 minutes - Sugababes have not. Both groups deserve recognition for their individual successes, however.

Can we please all now get over it? I mean Girls Aloud fans too as we're just as bad, if not worse! And before I get accussed of joining merely to post that. No...I joined a while ago and have been a user of this site for many months but thought I should have an input.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Why do people find this so hard to understand?

As I've said, Spice Girls UK sales will ever be higher than GA, just with album sales and even more if we add singles sales. And that with 3 albums and a GH.

But talking about Sugababes. Up to last October, before they release C&S, Music Week published their albums sales which were more tan 4 million (you can go and look for that article if you want). So with 5 studio albums and a GH, 6 albums, more than 4 million.

GA have sold 3,200,000 albums aprox. (and that taking into account that 650k are from their latest X Factor related album), which makes the total figure a lot lower 3 months ago.

Still more than 800k copies to get the Sugababes with the same number of albums.

Single sales are almost the same for both bands. Not even 200k copies of difference. (Sugababes have just 3 singles more). And that bein all GA singles Top 10s... which demonstrates tha, many of them, fall as quickly as they entered the charts....

So, not even adding single sales + album sales GA have sold more than Sugababes.

And, as I've said, I don't even want to mention overseas markets. In case you don't know, Sugababes sold records, among others, in Germany, the 2nd market in Europe...
