And what a WASTE that was. Thankfully she's now a suitably fine woman, even if she needs to stop letting Ian ground her. MORE PLS

Tanya, Stacey or Max will win this I think.

1 down I'm afraid...

27. Max Branning (5.24)

Max is kind of the perfect Eastenders character really. More than anybody else on that show, he has NEVER smiled. EVER. I think he would spontaneously combust from the effort if he tried.

I HATED Max until a few months ago. From the minute he appeared on the Square, he just radiated misery. He did everything in his power to destroy everyone within a 10 mile radius. And he didn't even do it in a charismatic way a la Janine. He was just a $h!t. What was most galling, was that we were expected to believe that this balding, moody, nasty (and unfortunately ginger) git could have the pick of any lady he set his eyes on. RIDICULOUS. Tanya was gorgeous and lovely. And aside from a shared interest in scowling, what on earth did Stacey the chavvy teenager have in common with him?

But he's slowly become a very good, watchable character. Jake Wood has been given the chance to do a lot more than just frown and speak in a monotone voice. The character has begun to learn from his mistakes and become a better person, but without COMPLETELY abandoning his old persona

(he has a pub brawl with Jack in the next couple of weeks)

.

And you can actually feel sorry for him now (unimaginable two years ago). Sure he had the affair, but he's been buried alive by his wife, tied up and held at gunpoint by his brother, and run over by his daughter. A tad excessive really?

Has he learned? He still tried to bribe Stacey, he still acted like a knob in court. I do pity him though, sometimes. He and Tanya are a strange couple; despite her being a million times the person he is, they are sort of right for each other. I imagine they'll leave the square together when they do go...

And HA at Gary believing that a male could come top 3. :heehee:

He was a bit of a knob, but this time his heart was in the right place. Before he would sneak around just to serve his own purposes, but bribing Stacey was just to protect his daughter, which is kind of understandable.

This is what I meant when I said he'd changed but NOT completely. He's still going to go around being shady, doing questionable things, and acting the arse.

But he's clearly learnt to appreciate his family a bit more. He's tried to the right thing by Lauren recently, and though he clearly wants Tanya back he's not trying to force her or play mind games on her like before.

I like the idea of Max and Tanya leaving together (which is bizarre, I initially loved Tanya kicking him out), but I do wonder if they will leave together. I think Jake Wood and Jo Joyner have both become so central to the show it will very much be up to them when they leave. I can't imagine EE forcing either of them to the door.

Are there actually any male characters left?

5

Out of 26. Not a good show.

Well the show has always seemed to lack some strong central male characters anyway but 5/26 is slightly $h!t even by our male hating standards.
I can't even THINK which 5 could be left! We've not had Ian have we? Bradley?

Oh I hope Sean was on the list  And Christian!

I expect Beale will do well too.

Erm other males :o Gosh...

Seeing as the rate took place gazillions of years ago, Sean was probably in it.
for me though the best ee charactor ever was ethel she iwas hilarious with dot i still watch clips of her on you tube

I do hope that's not a barbed comment?

Oh :(

That sounds like a most unglamourous death. Can't he at least enlist a 7 year old relative to scheme and bump me off?

I've just had a brainwave. All Peggy needed to do as councellor candidate was vote yes to speed bumps! Instant win!

^ That would have ensured her election defeat. What would the residents of Walford do with themselves if they weren't able to speed around knocking each other over?
