Dawn's old hairdo, back when she thought she was going to become Walford's Next Top Model, was absolutely horrific. Chavtastic. That aside I think she's a wonderful character! Youthful and charismatic with a big heart. I do agree about her and Garry not being entirely believable but at the same time they sort of patched her change of heart into the story quite cleverly; it taking Garry's 'death' for her to see that she did love him. Overall, it'd be a big shame if she were to go. Which she is, of course. :(

Oh, and even though she's lumped in with All The Single Losers now, Eastenders have done very well in transitioning her from family to family - first her own, awful family, then Jay and Jase, and now said losers. Amusing that she has such little contact with Darren though. :heehee:

That last thing is very odd to be honest, because I actually think Darren would fit in quite well himself with the All The Single Losers.

I still think Dawn only loves Garry as a best friend rather than a partner. From what I've heard though, this is what's going to be a big factor in their exit storylines, so at least it's being acknowledged.

Is this "loser" group people talk so fondly off the Heather/Shirley/Minty/Garry group?

That's good then as I believe he lives with them too, he's just not always in their 'gang'. Goodness knows how many live there Minty, Gary, Heather, Dawn, Darren and, until recently, Callum and Vinnie stayed there.

I LOVE SHIRLEY THOUGH.

I think Linda is a fab actress, but the character of Shirley is SO poor in comparison. :(

I don't think Shirley is a poor character. :o She's not perfect. Her moodswings are too severe to be believed (they've been lesser recently) for instance. But we feel for her, which is quite a feat given that she's so hard-faced. I also really like her friendship with Heather. Too often in soaps, including EE, romantic relationships are heavily prioritised over mere friendships, so it's nice to see an example of the latter. It was cute when Shirley came back last week and Heather made her say that they were still best mates.

Ha! So funny how the upstairs of each home in Albert Square is an apparent tardis. Worst offenders are surely the Slaters' up until recently, and of course the Vic, where we're expected to believe that Phil, Roxy, Peggy, Ben and sometimes Billy all have rooms. :heehee:

Ben/Phil have their own house on the Square...

They used to live there...

Don't try and OUTSMART me Jake.

Dawn - I liked Dawn, i actually liked Dawn right from the start but she made grave improvements in the last few years, and she worked well with Jase and Jay but then they killed Jase off, awful decision. Her current storyline of being stuck with Minty/Garry/Shirley is horrific aswell.

Shirley is a wonderful character. I'm not going to go into it too much now as she's still to come commentary-wise, but I think her hard-facedness is WHY it's so effective when we eventually then see Shirley in a vulnerable position (like when Kevin died, and Deano mugged her).

And I LOVE Shirley/Heather together. I even oddly like Ben when he hangs out with them.

I actually liked the way killed Jase off. It was so tragic, it was great.

I don't think killing Jase off was EE's mistake. Their mistake was what they've done with Dawn since. I think it would have been more interesting to see her trying to adjust and to continue playing stepmum to Jay. But then of course that would have spoiled the Billy/Jay scenario (will Jay find out his new surrogate dad left Jase to die?).

The Dawn/Jase ending was unfortunate. But the actor who played Jase quit to focus more on his directing career.

It's a shame Dawn is leaving. I'm sure I read somewhere they were going to make her a Matriach of Albert Square?

Thank God Dawn is leaving. A truly hideous character who just riles.

EE confuse me they seem to have two casts atm (well for the last 5 or so months). The Masoods/Mitchells/Beales/Slaters/Brannings/Bianca lot are all in regular use then characters like Christian, Shirley, Dawn, Minty, Bradley, Dawn went missing for MONTHS. I swear Dawn wasn't seen between December and March? Little too recently. Budget cuts at EE one can only assume.

I think it's just that for most of the time all of the cast have a week or two off every few months, but lately the likes of Tanya/Ronnie/Stacey are ALWAYS in so others have to take a longer leave. Strange though.

It's as June Brown said in her recent interview. Officially not everyone gets a storyline all the time, but in practice...there are favourites....

There's definitely a heirarchy within the cast. The Mitchells, Brannings and Stacey on top. Christian, Minty et all firmly at the bottom.

That's fair enough though isn't it? Eastenders is hardly realistic but in theory it's a reflection of 'real life', and in real life there are characters who are easy-going, characters who slink into the background, people at the centre of every bit of drama. God knows if there was as much of Ricky and Bradley as there is Ronnie and Tanya I'd stop watching!

That is a valid point I guess. But still...POOR BRADLEY.

22. Bradley Branning (5.94)

Why dost thou hatest Bradley so Mr Jark? Don't tell me you're one of those ridiculous Buzzjackers who only likes things with a vagina! To be fair, if this rate had been held in public, I think the likes of Ricky and Bradley would do just aswell as Ronnie and Tanya.

EE has developed a thing for gingers hasn't it? Bianca, Max, Tiffany, Sean, Bradley...

Bradley's an OK character really, he's a very pleasant young man which is rare in Albert Square. He also seems to be fairly successful, also rare in Albert Square (although God knows what the hell it is he is supposed to do?). Beyond that though, he seems to be wasted a bit really. His grandmother's murder is being plotted, his sister just escaped a heavy custodial sentence...and Bradley is walking the dog. Yup.

I also think they're missing a trick with his living arrangements. Bradley and Phil Mitchell, housemates? It could be GENIUS. Make more of it EE!

And is it just me, or just Charlie Clements look alarmingly almost attractive without a shirt?

Oh, and yes, out of 22, we're now down to just 3 males. Bravo Buzzjack!

I just think that, as you say, they could make more of him. I want more Brad-Syd action! They bounce so nicely off each other. I just didn't think that when she said she wanted to wait it meant we'd see some frisson or build-up, not that they'd both disappear off screen :heehee: He's got the most potential he's ever had now that Stacey's out of the equation. It should be utilised damn it!

I genuinely can't think who those 3 males are... slow brain day.

I reckon it's gotta be Ian, Christian and possibly Sean (?) left. I expect Sean's gotta appear soon, I didn't think he was liked very much until his last few weeks. (though maybe that was when the voting was going on?)

Aaron is quite correct.

You know, I completely forgot about Syd. Where has she gone? Was she supposed to be a full-time character?
