July 19, 200916 yr Author Well what can I say? I'm outdoing myself. This rate may actually take a full year to complete at this rate. Thanks to Aled for the gentle reminder. So #15 is another joint position... http://media.uxcell.com/uxcell/images/item/catalog/ux_a07081600ux0025_ux_c.jpg 15. Whitney Dean (6.41) Well along with Jamie Borthwick, Shona McGarty is clearly amongst the most talented younger cast members on the show. And Whitney's relationship with p**** Tony helped save the Jackson return from potential trainwreck. I just WISH she'd tone down the make up, she might attract fewer stalkers and predators that way :( http://www.speakbindas.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/indian-woman-1.jpg 15. Zainab Masood (6.41) God bless the Masoods. Zainab's proved quite popular, even in this rate which was actually held last year, when the Masoods were little more than glorified extras. Now the Masoods have become one of the Square's essential families, I'm sure their popularity will soar even higher. Frankly, I find Mrs Masood to be fabulous. She's never better than when she's spatting with the neighbours or playing the neighbourhood snob. And I love her love/hate relationship with Denise. MORE.
July 19, 200916 yr YES Zee needs to quabble with Denise more. Honestly I think my favourite 'Enders scene EVER EVER was a few weeks back when the two of them were teasing Tanya about her rather uneventful sex life. Half-intentional comedy gold.
July 19, 200916 yr Author TANYA an uneventful sex life? She has slept with or dated almost the entire male population of the Square since splitting up from Max.
July 19, 200916 yr Author lmao whats the Whitney pic all about? She overdoes it on the make-up a bit to the point where she actually looks like a member of the undead.
July 19, 200916 yr Adore both of them. I really hope Whitney sticks around for years to come, frankly she wipes the floor with most of the other younger actors. The Masoods on the whole are amazing, but especially Zainab. If only they'd persuade Zahra Amadi to come back as Shabnam.
July 19, 200916 yr Author It is a shame, Zahra left because her and the other Masoods were being ignored. And then literally the minute she leaves, BANG. The Masoods are pushed up to the forefront of the show. BAD CAREER MOVE.
July 20, 200916 yr It's really the first time Eastenders have made a family of an ethnic background work to the extent that they're a lot of people's favourites. I think it helps that they're not constantly MISERABLE. In business terms they're actually quite successful! Now I'm just waiting for them to cast me as hood girl LaTearaei Sri Von Jonson. With a name like that I won't even need a back story.
July 20, 200916 yr Amazing pictures for Whitney and Zainab. Z is now among my fav ever characters...actually the whole family is

With a name like that I won't even need a back story. Being EE, Sri Von Jonson would inevitably become the typical "bad girl come good" - she'd be attending college, going on polite dates with Bradley Branning and sipping tea with Dot Cotton. It happens to them ALL. You'd lose your edge. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/09/09/article-0-0295352400000578-404_468x738.jpg 14. Denise Wicks (6.65) And Zee's sparring partner comes along immediately after. This commentary's becoming increasingly tedious as we're now coming to characters I actually LIKE and I can't spit out my bile. Anyway, Denise is fabulous. In her early days she achieved the equivalent of Jesus walking on water and healing the sick - she made Phil Daniels tolerable. I like the way she's portrayed; a caring, sensible mother, but who's not without her faults (a short temper and a big gob, EE specialities). She's BELIEVABLE. The only thing I don't find realistic about it all, is the idea that she let herself be beaten by her husband, Evil Owen. I simply cannot imagine fiesty Denise EVER letting Evil Owen anywhere near her, let alone to whip. Denise would quite simply TAKE HIM DAAHNNN.
July 23, 200916 yr Author http://th06.deviantart.com/fs14/300W/f/2007/041/1/a/Big_Mouth_by_JudiLiosatos.jpg 13. Bianca Jackson (6.71) EE have proved me wrong. Patsy Palmer has actually proved to a welcome returnee to the cast, despite being quite wooden and shouty-annoying immediately upon her return, and despite agreeing to take part in the HATEFUL Godawful "Jackson 5" tribute thing. The writers have also incredibly managed to go a whole year without doing the inevitable and forcing Bianca and Rickkaaaayyy back together, which is quite wonderful. How much longer that lasts though... The best thing about Bianca I think, is that even though she's approaching middle age, she still continues to wear truly HIDEOUS chav reject garments. I do hope this continues for years to come, I like the idea of a 75 year old bag roaming around the Square with skin-tight pink leggings, a shiny silver bomber jacket and bright ginger hair. She'll be AntiDot.

You've just initiated a concept for Pat's big reinvention in 2010. Hurrah! I'm a little surprised that Bianca made it so high but it's deserved. The Tony storyline and its climax proved that Patsy can genuinely act very well and I do love Bianca's obscure relationship with Ricky. Obviously they'll get back together but for now I like their bickering/reliance upon each other. Denise on the other hand, everyday woman's idol that she is, don't NEED no man. Except she has one and he's rather hunky. Now hurry up and marry them. The sooner Lucas' top comes off the better.

Bianca actually only really started doing well near the end of the rate, to begin with, she was struggling to break the top 20. The Tony storyline certainly saved her; like I said before with the other Jacksons, I really think without it they'd have bombed. Patsy is a great actress but hadn't shown it much beforehand. I echo the Lucas sentiments. TOP OFF.
July 23, 200916 yr Would you be a dime and treat us to a round-up of the list so far so that we can speculate on the final twelve?
July 23, 200916 yr Biancas comeback was something i was dreading and whilst i had my doubts to start with, shes become one of these characters the show needs to hold on too. Denise is the same, an asset to the show of sorts. Is it me or does this show have way too many great female characters compared to the p*** poor selection of male characters?
July 23, 200916 yr Author Would you be a dime and treat us to a round-up of the list so far so that we can speculate on the final twelve? I've toyed with the idea, but think it would be far more fun without. That way it adds to the intrigue of who the final 12 are. Also I'm lazy, sorry :( Is it me or does this show have way too many great female characters compared to the p*** poor selection of male characters? No, you're quite right. All soaps have this issue, particularly British ones. It's very odd. But looking through EE history, there are only really four males that could be viewed as proper classics; Ian, Phil, Grant and Den. Maybe Ricky and Frank at a push. Compare that to the number of "classic" females; Pat, Peggy, Dot, Pauline, Kat, Bianca, Kathy, Cindy, Sharon, Brenda Boyle...
July 23, 200916 yr I'd say Stacey too. In future I think that Tanya, Ronnie, Roxy, and perhaps Zee and Jane will be considered legendary... none touch Brenda though obviously. Where is the blithering old battleaxe?
July 23, 200916 yr Looking back I'm quite appalled that Max only finished 27th. He's the best male in the show (though that's not saying a lot)!
