Brilliantly - and truthfully - put.

 ridiculous? eh?

The fact that this man made his money on the back of a fraudulent singing act.... only an idiot would say that this doesn't change his/her opinion of him. In fact, back at you - what a ridiculous message

Exactly.

Were Milli Vanilli allowed to keep their Best New Artist Grammy when it was found out that the two front men did not sing on their records?

Answer No. Whilst the Record Company were able to legally tear up their recording contract due to being artistically defrauded.

Simon Cowell has a huge influence over what happens in the charts. Therefore, the very fact that the record that made his reputation has now been found out to be as a result of a con is a very big deal.

It's not particularly surprising, but there's not much that can be done about it really...his stranglehold on the charts is too strong for this to do anything unless there's a country-wide boycott of everything he profits from. Given the apathy this news has been greeted with, I don't see that happening...
It's not a big con though - it's standard industry practice to boost the vocals with backing/session singers. You're not telling me you were naive enough to believe Robson and Jerome were responsible for 100% of the singing on those songs?

News just in - The Titanic has sunk off the Newfoundland many feared dead

This stuff has been going on in the industry for decades and always will

Dave Clark was such a p*** poor drummer particularly in the earlier days that Clark used to have session musicians do the drumming on DC5 albums and they sold millions of records and the DC5 were still popular and there was never any media outcry that Clark would sell albums and singles with someone else playing drums and it pretending that it was him

Of course that is one of many examples you can use.

Indeed this example is one reason why rightfully the DC5 were not inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame around the same time as their British invasion contemporaries The Beatles; The Rolling Stones; The Who; The Kinks; The Yardbirds; Cream; etc was because of this well known fact that they were not as authentic as their other contemporaries because this sort of thing is frowned upon which is why a large number of musicians today have the same philosophy regarding X-Factor today.

Such as this week Elton "I'd rather have my c**k bitten off by an alsatian than watch the X Factor" John.

EVERYONE is at it in some way shape or form, EVERY artist that is in a recording studio has their vocal sound edited or adjusted using computers and software and so on, the only songs out there that are true representations of the artist vocal ability is "unplugged" album sessions where you really hear the vocalist, EVERY studio album is edited or has computer adjustment for the persons voice, to suggest it is exclusive to Cowell is pie in the sky

The same Elton who has Alexandra supporting him at the O2 show on New Years Eve and has previously said he's a big fan of Leona?

I don't know what's more shocking.

* the news that tricks have been used in the studio to aid weak vocalists

* the fact that people will latch onto something widespread like this and blame it all on Simon Cowell, or

* Elton John said something stupid and contradictory to get a headline

All of the above are extremely predictable and happen with great regularity and have done for a long time.

One great example of this: Jennifer Lopez

Her song Play, the chorus is sung by Christina Milian. And the choruses her songs "Ain't It Funny" and "I'm Gonna Be Alright" are sung by someone else

Ironically, the x factor shows singers singing live and any faults or mistakes are obvious.

In fact, the only singers these days we can be sure have good voices, is those that we have seen sing well live.

(and, contrary to popular belief, an auto tune is really obvious when used live).

Where is the "fraud?" There is no evidemce of fraud.

He added, however: 'Robson and Jerome came into the studio and we did the vocals together. So they are singing on the record without a shadow of a doubt.
