December 21, 200816 yr Author Out From Under - Britney might be #1. I wondered when Britney would get mentioned! Can’t see a track from a released album reaching No1 unless it’s Take That or Leona. :P
December 21, 200816 yr I prefer having Lady GaGa-Just dance #1 instead of Run..and If i say that this means that Just dance is a great song cos I love RUn
December 21, 200816 yr I think Geraldine and Take That will record a track for Comic Relief - Relight my fire? Also, Band Aid 25 to have the Christmas number one ... chances of that happening - slim and none and slim left town.

Also, Band Aid 25 to have the Christmas number one ... chances of that happening - slim and none and slim left town. I think I can say with confidence that Take That's (or rather Gary Barlow's) involvement with Geraldine is now well and truly over! There will not be a Geraldine/Take That Comic Relief single! Norma
December 21, 200816 yr The return of Sophie Ellis-Bextor should have most people quaking in their boots next year. :D
December 21, 200816 yr Right, back to reality after that little mistake there by Aly :smoke: I reckon Little Boots could snatch a number one if sales are low ^_^
December 21, 200816 yr Apparently Take That are doing a song with Girls Aloud for the Children in Need single so I can see that getting number one. Edited December 21, 200816 yr by callum.
December 21, 200816 yr What annoys me is that the media hype up someone to be 'the Voice of 07/08/09/whatever' based entirely on the fact that they are releasing a single in January. In 2007 it was Mika and Just Jack. Just Jack disappeared completely, Mika had a few more hits but could you say he was the biggest act of 2007? As for Adele, the 'Voice of 08', that was entirely based on hype over Christmas leading up to her January release... but she wasn't even the biggest act of 08 in her own genre, as Duffy had totally eclipsed her by the Spring. Presumably Lady GaGa will be touted as the 'Voice of 09'. The true 'Voice of 09' will be someone we haven't even heard yet, who will emerge some time between March and October.

In 2007 it was Mika and Just Jack. Just Jack disappeared completely, Mika had a few more hits but could you say he was the biggest act of 2007? Well he has sold 5.4m of his album worldwide so far and was huge in Europe. In 2007 he had the third biggest selling album in the UK and 4th worldwide. As for Adele, the 'Voice of 08', that was entirely based on hype over Christmas leading up to her January release... but she wasn't even the biggest act of 08 in her own genre, as Duffy had totally eclipsed her by the Spring. Adele was picked by the BBC and the Brits - Duffy was second in the BBC poll so hardly much between them and she was bigged up by a few in the media over Adele.
December 22, 200816 yr Hopefully Shakira will have the song of the summer again :D Agree with Halo too, with Beyoncé's newly garnered X factor zombies she has a shot at #1. I hope they release Halo next though and not Diva.
December 22, 200816 yr Alexandra Burke will also get another #1 when she brings out her new album next year.

Well, maybe Mika did do alright (though I'm possibly blind to his success, as I can't stand him :puke2: ). But Just Jack? Everyone was saying he was gonna be so big in 2007 because of one January hit, ha ha ha. As for Duffy/Adele, we'll have to agree to differ, though the 'cognoscenti' were well into Duffy from the start, the mainstream media were obsessed with Adele for the early weeks of the year, simply because she released first. Before 'Chasing Pavements' was even released, there was a One Show piece about autographs - whose is valuable, whose isn't so valuable, and they were speculating that Adele's autograph was going to be worth huge amounts in the future because she was about to become such a big star. I mean, she's okay, but nothing like the absurd hype that she was given last January because the BBC had nothing else to talk about... Meanwhile, I'm just looking at my ISA statement and wondering if I have enough to buy a signed photo of Just Jack....
