Now they're gone what was your overall opinion of them? :o

It was obvious that no matter how good they were I was going to be a fan and support them just because it was Carl. But when I heard You f***ing Love It I thought I was gonna absolutely love them and was hyped up for the single and album but when Bang, Bang You're Dead and Waterloo Or Anywhere came around I realised that the band was literally The Libertines with Pete taken away i.e. the music was very similar but the lyrics just weren't as good as The Libertines.. Still the album was very solid and had a few good tracks on it. I then got an opportunity at the Wireless Festival to see them live and it was one of the highlights of the day! The tracks were very good live and the crowd were very up for it! To top it off they even played France! They were a band I bought everything that they released, when I stayed overnight in a hotel in Southend for a gig I bought two of the formats for Wondering and then I took a diversion to HMV in Oxford Street, London on my way back to get the other 7 inch.

When news filtered through to me about a second album I remembered waiting to hear Tired Of England for quite a while and tbh I was very disappointed :( It just had nothing to it and then the second album Romance At Short Notice was released and apart from Truth Begins There was nothing that was better than 6/10 for me and I saw them again at Wireless this year and the difference in the enthusiasm of the crowd was really weird, it was like I was the only one who still at least cared!

So overall they had a good first album but I think they had just run their course so as much as it was sad to see them go maybe it was their time to go.

When i first heard 'You f***ing Love It', i f***ing loved it, and then they came out with BBYD, and i thought great things were coming, and they did, in the form of The Libertines part 2, where as Pete created his own band that are somewhat different to The Libs, DPT were the Libs just not as good. But it was still a worthy album nethertheless.

Then when i heard '9 Lives' and 'Tired of England', i thiught yay another good album, but it turned out quite mediocre, i think it was for the best [them splitting] as otherwise they would just be making same album after same album, now i think Carl can move onto better things.

still love 'em though.

Tired Of England never sucked me in at all :( It just doesn't really hit any part of me and I kept searching around for ages when it had supposedly been around net to listen to it as well.
