January 7, 201015 yr Im just after realising Joe McEldery has the biggest selling single of 2009 in ireland, i was positive the black eyed peas had in the bad as they had 12 weeks at number 1 with i gotta feeling.
January 7, 201015 yr I've often wondered this myself. Between IRMA, Chart Track and theirishcharts.ie, they contradict each other so often I don't know what to believe! Certifications are based on shipment figures not sales.Leona's album was already certified 7x platinum in 2007 but it probably sold a lot of those copies during 2008.
January 7, 201015 yr Certifications are based on shipment figures not sales.Leona's album was already certified 7x platinum in 2007 but it probably sold a lot of those copies during 2008. So its safe to say Leona is 7x platnum ....? :unsure 7 x 15,000 = 105,000 copies
January 8, 201015 yr So its safe to say Leona is 7x platnum ....? :unsure 7 x 15,000 = 105,000 copies No, Leonas 11x Platinum.She was certified 7x in 2007 and 11x in 2008.
January 8, 201015 yr Author I know that, but could Bad Romance really climb from No.20 to No.10 in one week? It could! In the same period it went from 27 to 17 in the UK year end chart having previously moved from 53 to 40 to 27..
January 8, 201015 yr Author Ok, can someone explain to me this... 2008 highest selling albums according to chart track 1. Only By The Night - Kings Of leon 2. Script - Script 3. Spirit - Leona Lewis 4. The Circus - Take That 5. Priests - Priests But according to the Certification Awards of that year 1. Only By The Night - Kings Of Leon 5 times platnum 2. Script - Script 5 times platnum 3. Spirit - Leona Lewis 4 times platnum 4. The Circus - Take That 8 times platnum 5. Priests - Priests 5 times platnum surely then it would go 1. The Circus - Take That ?. Priests - Priests ?. Script - Script ?. Only By The Night - Kings Of Leon 5. Spirit - Leona Lewis AFAIK the record company has to apply for the certifications! Could it be that Take That's label was quicker off the mark in doing so?
January 9, 201015 yr Author The chart of the year WOULD be accurate as it does count all sales. The certifications are only ever a guidleine. Also, on reflection, certifcations are traditionally for number of copies shipped rather than actually sold which would be a more sensible answer to the initial question - some shops are probably sitting with a hell of a lot of copies of The Circus that they need to shift! :)
