Let's get back to these... you know the drill! And, for those who don't, this is essentially your twelve choice tracks you would take away with you on a desert island from the year in question, this time being 1991!

OK Go!

01: Kylie Minogue "Shocked"

I'm a out and out Kylie fan and this is easily in my top three Kylie tracks of all time! A relatively average album track turned

into stonking piano-led classic and a personal favorite of Kylie's!

02: Bizarre Inc "Playing With Knives"

Perhaps my favorite track of this year, the piano and woooooooooooooooooooooh vocals literally send electricity down my

spine!

03: Alison Limerick "Where Love Lives"

Timeless vocal soul/house classic. That piano is... just... legendary.

04: Massive Attack "Safe From Harm"

Yes, I also adore "Unfinished Sympathy" but I equally love this and the former constantly tops lists so we are well aware of its importance - and rightly so!

05: Young Disciples "Apparently Nothin'"

Short-lived brit act that was aprt of the "eeek" Acid Jazz sound! Still a great, great track!

06: Zoe "Sunshine On A Rainy Day"

The one-hit wonder of 1991! Real old-skool end-of-the-night anthem!

07: Kym Sims "Too BLind To See It"

Ordinary song turned quirky but scarily hooky house anthem!

08: Shades Of Rhythm "Extacy"

Massive cult act that, along with The Prodigy at the time, fronted the explosive rave scene at the time. Least we also forget

Altern 8 and those masks...

09: Omar "There's Nothing Like This"

Let's wind it down with some gorgeous UK soul. Sublime stuff.

10: Incognito + Jocelyn Brown "Always There"

Another anthemic UK soul anthem fronted by the first lady of house!

11: Happy Mondays "Loose Fit"

I can take of leave them usually, but this is a gem!

12: Oceanic "Insanity"

Certainly not the coolest dance track of the year, but it was this years best selling dance track and it's very easy to hear why... Plus it's a chance to check some vintage TOTP graphics!

i heard this the other day when i was listening to the radio 1 request show - greg james was playing it and his comment was something like 'i was told that this was a big tune from the 90s tho i've never heard it which is like weird as i know most big pop tunes from the 1990s' so i thought something like this 'maybe you dont know it as you've blocked it out your mind as it was so bad (some awful tinny must be recorded for 25p rave tune) omg i tell you i wouldnt want to hear it again!!! (tho i've got a brother who would probs say this is so like the best choon ever...but as he's eejit...obv he's wrong )

btw fyi: bizarrely radio 2 were playing fall out boy at the same time and on xfm any number of 80s synth-rock-goth bands (tho it could've easily have been the newbie from white lies  but it wasnt )

If EMF were like from this year i'm thinking I Believe should be mentioned..this is on one of my cheapo dutchy disky compilation collections and when i listen to this i think it should be recorded with a big powerful preaching to the sky booming soul voice or even beyonce with is good as Ian Dench from EMF is one of Beyonce's writers and I'm just hoping one day when there's an extra song needed for I am Sasha too...I'm also a bit fierce he will go well me and the random norweigns aint got any tunes for you but wait i've so got a brilliant idea... Beyonce needs just to sing over an original backing track as it will still look upto date in r&b turns esp. since most r&b records seem to be a cross between haddaway and cher's believe these days !!!

It's pure naffaroon now (a word I use, it means rubbish/tat) and it's production credentials leave a lot to be desired but it just oozes charm. I usually round up my chosen dozen with a guilty pleasure (this is probably one of the better ones!).

1. Scorpions - Send Me an Angel (Sure, Wind Of Change was way bigger hit but I prefer this one over it any day)

2. Samantha Janus - A Message To Your Heart

3. R.E.M. - Losing My Religion

4. Paula Abdul - Rush Rush

5. Queen - The Show Must Go On

6. Timmy T. - One More Try

7. Enigma - Sadeness Part 1

8. Chris Isaak - Wicked Game

9. The KLF featuring Tammy Wynette - Justified & Ancient

10. Roxette - Fading Like a Flower (Everytime You Leave)

11. The KLF - Last Train To Trancentral

12. Army Of Lovers - Obsession (or Crucified, pretty equally good tracks)

13. Genesis - No Son of Mine

14. Crystal Waters -Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)

15. Kylie Minogue - Word Is Out

15. Kylie Minogue - Word Is Out

Interesting track, though I quite like it's new jack swing quality myself. Was her first track to miss out on the top ten completely but by this point she was deemed, along with pop, extremely uncool and the dance music was considered the way forward. How things change...
