His new album leaked already, don't know if you know or not Nicky.

I do, but I thought now the single is in the public eye now was the time for the thread innit!

It's great. Probably his most commercial song in ages, but in a good way. He's playing near me in May (I think), torn whether or not to go...
It's great but surely not compared to That's How People Grow Up which is just incredible
Morrissey's new single 'I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris' will get its official video premiere on Saturday 10th January at midnight on Channel 4.
Great! Have set the Sky+...

FINALLY - i think it's his best solo yet.

However, still more of a fan of Morrissey with The Smiths.

Obviously being a long time fan since buying The Smiths albums on vinyl in the 1980s I like this track a lot.

But am I the only one who thinks he sounds a bit lispy vocally on this track?

I buy everything by Morrissey, always have, and I did the unthinkable and downloaded the album last night (I'll still be buying it, though, old sucker me).

Hmm...it's easily his weakest since Maladjusted and Southpaw. In fact, it's even without a classic tune like Trouble Loves Me, that was Maladjusted's only saving grace.

Minus any of the sprawling, filmic gorgeousness of Ringleader, minus a single showstopping track like Life is a Pigsty.... just full of short guitar and drum-heavy songs that sound a little tired.... with the first 3 tracks sounding like he's making them up as he goes along. 'Mama Lay Softly on the Riverbed' is a career lowpoint - truly dreadful. Out of the 3 singles on here - only That's How People Grow Up is truly worthy of this great man's name. The new single is ok - another Morrissey single - he's treading water.

His strong point - his ability to write tear-inducingly beautiful ballads - is apparent only on 'You Weere Good In Your Time' - but even this sounds like an ok track from Ringleader. Where is the genius pen that gave us Last Night I Dreamt, Let Me Kiss You, Now My Heart Is Full or Asleep?

The poduction sounds muffled and it's obvious Morrissey has his quality control button on pause again - there's really nothing new, fresh, challenging or lyrically interesting here. Interesting to note that just after finishing this album last July, producer Jerry Finn suffered a fatal brain haemorrage. Finn had previously produced the wonderful You Are The Quarry - but little else of interest (Blink 182? Pennywise? Green Day?).

Apparently, the album's available as a limited edition CD and DVD - with the DVD including a film called Wrestle With Russell :o - featuring Morrissey and Russell Brand

If this IS Morrissey's swansong... what a muted, dull way to bow out of a jaw-droppingly wonderful career.

what does everyone else reckon to the album?

His most humdrum work since Maladjusted I think....
