That’s irrelevant, stop being rude towards other members, and please kindly remember you’re not a special case.

Well that's funny, because you seem to spend most of your clearly ample time telling me that I'm retarded. I wasn't being rude to Norma (as you well know) - I was stating that she rarely gives credit where it's due, in the same way she stated that I rarely criticise when I should.

Believe it or not Pete - but there are parts of the show I like! Which is why I waste my time watching it occasionally. But for me ... the fans on here NEVER comment on its bad points! Of which there are many!

And ... you forget ... I have posted positively ... Lacey Turner ... but it seems most fans would rather appreciate a, quite frankly, sloppily written 'gay/muslim' storyline!

Norma

Sorry but you've seen one episode of this storyline.

It certainly improves - yes improves ie; I didnt think it was perfect <_<.

Fans DO comment on the bad points and one of the main people to be very fair and critical is usually He-Wolf! :P

What you don't know about Ethan, Norma, is that he has a bizarre grudge against me based on an age-old disagreement we had in the bloody iTunes thread of all places! I actually thought you wouldn't lower yourself in the way that he has, and that we could enjoy a personable debate... but apparently I'm not your 'pal'.

Any so called animosity or grudge is on your part not mine.

Where have I called you 'retarded' apart from one argument MONTHS ago that your holding against me?

This is an EE thread. Can you please take your rows to somewhere else please Ethan.
Pipe down Ethan please. No need for some of your comments in this thread. :P And others try not to react to his bait. It's obvious he is doing it for a reaction. Ignore.

Eastenders reflects the status quo mentality of a large number of people in the country. It’s pretty uninspiring to watch people who are considerably worse off than yourself four times a week. The acting is on the weak side as demonstrated by the fact that when actors leave and take a major role in another series those series usually fail. To be honest the huge budget Eastenders commands from the licence fee could be better spent on more positive and relevant programming.

Whatever happened to aspirational soaps like Dallas and Dynasty? It’d be nice to have a prime time soap, which featured the lives of young professionals in Canary Warf than watch the insipid lives of chavs falling by the wayside. It’d even be preferable to resurrect cult US soap Sunset Beach and show that instead; such is life were stuck with the mundane urban deprivation alas.

But people on the whole don't want to watch glamorous or well-off people; it's depressing seeing people enjoying what you can't have. Either way many dramas do account for that market, particularly American imports such as Dirty Sexy Money, Brothers and Sisters, and previously the likes of Sexy & The City. Britain has Mistresses but other dramas with a focus on the well-off get less attention; the (ridiculously vapid) new series Personal Affairs is clearly big budget but only airs on BBC3. When 'aspirational' shows such as the aforementioned, or Dallas/Dynasty in the past are produced, they're often panned for portraying a wreckless lifestyle few can attain.

I guess that's drama though, and you're right, there are no high-class soaps at present, but gritty storylines generally command better acting anyway.

I hope Chelsae is gone for a good while, i dont know what it is but i just cant relate to her in anyway at all and i always find her hard to believe, denise lucas and squiggle!!! are great i enjoy them but i hope they axe chelsea
Really enjoyed tonights episode in general but i wish Peggy would keep her nose out she was so out of order doing all that engagement stuff if i was jack i would tell her p**s off and mind her own business

Peggy is revolting. Can't stand her these days. She's the bloody bipolar one, never mind Stacey, she's up and down like a whore's drawers!

Is it very wrong that I wanted Jack and Max to make out tonight? They're so cute together...

Was just about to say the same thing. Who TF does she think she is interfering like that? Stupid old bag.

Inside Soap magazine has revealed soapland's most-loved lineup of characters.

After a 10-week vote, Britain's favourite fictional drama queen, villain, landlady and bitch, among others, have been named, with EastEnders taking the top spot in half of the categories. Coronation Street have four favourites and Hollyoaks one. ITV rural drama Emmerdale, however, failed to top the votes in any category.

Walford's Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) was honoured as soap's greatest ever matriarch, while her son Grant (Ross Kemp) topped the 'leading man' poll. Loudmouth Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) took the 'drama queen' accolade, and the 'greatest gossip' title was won by Dot Cotton (June Brown). Albert Square's dearly departed canine companion Wellard took the pet prize.

Speaking of her character's title, Barbara Windsor said: "I'm really thrilled, darling! What I love about Peggy is that it's so un-me! I loved doing those scenes where Peggy and Pat fought over Frank, it was terrific. But Peggy hasn't changed much since. I just did a scene where she's so up herself that she thinks she is Queen Victoria! I'm still enjoying every minute."

Jessie Wallace commented: "Considering I left EastEnders over three years ago it's great that Kat is still in people’s memories. Kat was such a fantastic character to play… Tony Jordan [former chief script writer] told me if Kat had stayed in Walford, she would have been a completely different character. After all she'd been through, she'd take off her face and just be a plain Jane. That would have been depressing, wouldn't it?"

Meanwhile, Weatherfield psycho Richard 'Tricky Dicky' Hillman (Brian Capron) was voted as the public's greatest villain and leopard print-clad Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear) as greatest landlady. Murderous Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) took the 'bitch' gong and Maggie Jones's alter-ego Blanche Hunt bagged the title of soap's all-time greatest comedy character.

Brian Capron said: "This is great. I'm surprised I beat Tony Gordon - he's certainly making a massive impact on the Street… Everything Richard Hillman did was to keep the family together and I wanted him to be terrifyingly normal. I wanted to use my eyes, which was a very important feature of the character... Being part of the family at Coronation Street will be something that I’ll always remember."

Chester soap Hollyoaks, meanwhile, was handed one award for soap's 'greatest ever youngster', which was won by Ellis Hollins for his portrayal of Tom Cunningham.

EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks has signed a new three-year contract with the soap.

The 28-year-old, who plays Walford superbitch Janine Butcher, announced her regular return to the show in 2008 for an initial year.

Speaking to DS in December, she said: "I'm back for a year at the moment. I don't know [about anything longer]. We'll see how it goes on both parts."

However, her ex-boyfriend Tony Truman, who is also the father of her four-year-old daughter Kiki, recently revealed that his former flame is to stay with EastEnders for at least the next three years.

He told Closer: "Charlie's just signed a three-year contract to keep playing Janine - she loves getting all the wicked storylines."

Of his contact with Brooks, Truman added: "We're still like bezzie mates, I love it when she visits me in Ibiza with Kiki - we have so much fun in the sun."

Glad shes staying but when are they going to do something interesting with her  I think they've really wasted her return so far.
ya they need to bring the bitch back into janine or they really need to go deep with her and let us see why she is the way she is, as of now they seem to be doing neither and why i cant understand, for me patsy palmers return has been far better and has benefited the show alot more aswell
Im also interested in seeing how Ian and Janes storyline is gonna go with them having no money to pay for the cafe, i hope they dont go down the bankrupcy road again with Ian,Adam Woodyat is a good actor for times when Ian is all cocky and business like and money pinching ideas but i find him very very hard to watch when he is playig out depressing scenes and i especially dont enjoy seeing him cry as i always laugh as he i think he does crying scenes terribly in general.
