Agreed on Disturbia, it got boring very quickly so it's run in my chart wasnt all that long either. Hold It Dont Drop It is amazing IMO, my fav from Jennifer. Dream On is brilliant and should have done better whilst Forgive Me and Keeps Gettin Better are both very under-rated. Agreed on the Sugas album, Girls is easily the worst thing on there.

Woo, glad to see you like them all. ^_^ I find that seems to happen with Rihanna in general, I can like her songs for ages and then just go off them all of a sudden. "Mile In These Shoes" is my favourite Jennifer Lopez single, she should have released it. Agreed, the other three deserved better in the UK chart.

Fall Out Boy - Beat It [26-32-18-14-09-08-07-08-10-11-13-17-23-31-OUT] [14 wks.] *347* Two former #1s in my chart in a tie first, Mutya goes lower because she's lucky to be in it as she spent her last of three weeks at #1 in 2008. I was very into this in December/January as it's very wintery and with Amy Winehouse on backing vocals it was bound to be liked by me. I really thought this would have been a hit for Mutya against the odds. Estelle is at #39 with her first of three #1s in my chart, this was a bit less successful in my chart than the other two because it was a flop in the real chart and it wasn't one of the better songs on her album. Still, it's a really nice song from her. Girls Aloud next with what I consider to be their best single behind "Sexy! No No No...". This narrowly missed out on being #1 in my chart but it remains to be their most successful song in my chart anyway. The chorus is amazingly catchy and, unlike most people, I think Sarah's bit really makes this song that bit better. Adele shows up again next with her second single. I didn't know what I thought of this at first and it took a few listens for me to appreciate it but it's one of the highlights of her album. Her voice is just so nice to listen to, just don't let her start talking. At #36 is the most under rated ex-Destiny's Child member with "We Break The Dawn", this was an "unexpected" change of direction for her and it worked so well for her. This is better than anything Beyoncé has put out this year and her album was better than hers too. It's a shame she was kept off #1 in my chart by various strong songs from Estelle, P!nk, Jennifer Hudson, The Saturdays and M.I.A. charting above her over the weeks. "Just Stand Up!" is at #35 and I think it's the best record made specifically made for charity I've heard. You just have to look at the featuring artists to see that it's made for me with Leona Lewis, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, Ashanti, Rihanna and many more featured on it. This song is just so inspirational and I can't help put a smile on my face when I listen to it. At #34 is Alesha Dixon with "The Boy Does Nothing", who'd have thought that she'd have the best single of all the returning divas in November?! It's just insanely catchy and Alesha is impossible not to like. Next up (hahaha) is the Saturdays with far and away their best song. They're usually an alright girl band, they make nice songs but nothing too exciting but "Up" is just in a different league. It never gets old for me and it should go down as a pop classic. (of 2008 at least :P) Leona next with a song she released as part of a dual single with "Better In Time". It seems that she's either not in my chart at all or she's in there with two singles at once. The album version is good but the CD version is great. The acapella bit at the beginning just transforms the song completely for me and though it's one of her lowest peaking songs in my chart it finishes higher than "Forgive Me" which was near the end of it's run and that made #1. Finally is a song I'm rather embarrassed to admit is my highest male fronted track on this countdown. I guess the fact that it's Fall Out Boy doing a cover of Michael Jackson shows that my taste in male music isn't so great. But as they would say, "I DON'T CARE", I really like it even though they're a bit despised. I have to admit, I didn't expect it to be so high up in this chart due to it's low peak. 14. Duffy - Rockferry http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/DUFFYROCK.JPG Highlights: Warwick Avenue, Rockferry, Hanging On Too Long Least Favourite: Serious Duffy next then, this album is very good but I was quite disappointed with there being very few tracks on the album. Maybe I should get the Deluxe edition, I'm just stubborn about them. Anyway, "Warwick Avenue" is by far the best song on this album, it's a very safe song but it's still top notch. The title track is particularly good as well and should have been a proper single at some point. All the singles have ben pretty good as well, though "Mercy" is a bit over rated. The only songs I'm not too fussed with are "Serious" and "I'm Scared" but even those are alright. Very deserving best seller of the year though I personally prefer 13 others. :P Edited January 19, 200916 yr by Aaron™
January 24, 200916 yr Author 30. Adele - Hometown Glory [20-09-04-04-02-03-04-07-15-20-23-27-32-39-OUT] [14 wks.] *365* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/XLS374.JPG Adele next with her best song imp, but she has another one higher up. This suffered a bit in my chart as it was the third single, so it had been around for quite some time by the time I got around to charting it. I didn't really get it when everyone was raving about this when this got a limited release but it really is beautiful. 29. Joss Stone - Baby Baby Baby [08-01-01-02-03-06-10-10-14-18-23-31-38-40-OUT] [14 wks.] *369* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/RELCD47.JPG Joss Stone has her sole entry to my countdown here with probably her biggest flop ever. Though it didn't have a video so it's no wonder it missed the top 200 anyway. This is one of her best songs imo, it's a fun song that's good for a sing along. It spent two weeks at #1 in my chart early last year but due to it being abig flop it's one of my least remembered ones I think. 28. Sugababes - Denial [31-07-02-04-04-04-05-08-12-16-16-21-29-OUT] [13 wks.] *374* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1765355.JPG This song seems so old now and it's one of those songs I think I've overplayed but, when I listen to it, it still sounds so good that I wonder why I felt like that. Maybe it's a song I don't want to spoil like I do so often. This, with "Change", is their joint biggest hit in my chart, peaking at #2. For someone who says they don't really like the slowy Sugababes songs they've done pretty well with them in my chart and they've got one or two good ones on their new album. 27. Christina Aguilera - Oh Mother [09-02-04-06-04-07-05-08-11-16-21-30-36-39-OUT] [14 wks.] *376* http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/enduranceben/ohmother.jpg Another case of an artist having their biggest flop with one of their best songs now. This was a very low key release, I don't think it was released physically and no single version was made digitally and the video was a live performance so it was expected to flop anyway. But, including it's run in 2007, it's one of my top 10 longest runners in my chart spending 19 weeks there. I believe this is Christina's finest moment, though "Hurt" comes close. 26. Ashlee Simpson - Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya) [27-23-22-20-25-35-21R(8)-12-07-04-06-10-12-15-19-23-31-OUT] [17 wks.] *385* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1768688.JPG Guilty pleasure of the countdown? Probably. I've never been into Ashlee Simpson before this and other than "Little Miss Obsessive" I'm not that fussed with her though she's alright. At the time I felt it was harsh to put her at #4 but I feel that's about right now, it should have been at least a top 10 hit for her but she isn't taken seriously. I like the "I am who I am and I can't be no one else" line, it's hardly a new message but ehh... 13. Laura Marling - Alas I Cannot Swim http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/CDVY3040.JPG Highlights: Ghosts, Shine, Tap At My Window Least Favourite: N/A An album with no least favourite you say? Why isn't it my favourite album of the year then?! Well it's because while I like every song on this album it doesn't really have any huge songs that I'm adddicted to. Maybe I should expect that from quite a folky album but I kinda need something like the personally. Maybe if she released one of my highlights and it went top 10 it'd be higher, it's just the way I am, I tend to like things that do well in the mainstream world better. I'm not saying my highlights of this album aren't superb, because they are. "Ghosts" is just lovely and "Shine" sounds a bit like Diana Vickers singing, only better. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone, at 35 minutes it's not very long but she manages to pack 12 great songs into that time. Sometimes short but sweet is better.

Beat It only got to #37 for me though and Preety Please is really dull, The Promise got brong very easily aswell. Love Duffy's album, not a bad song to be seen on it. It's a shame Hometown Glory didnt do better, i put it at #8 but it should have been higher. Great to see you charted Baby Baby Baby, im not a fan of Oh Mother though. Denial is brilliant and i should have charted it higher than #6. Outta My Head - i dont think i need to say anything do i.

'The Promise' is probably one of their best singles and I've only just started finding it boring, it's still good though. I think we're the only people who charted 'Baby Baby Baby'. 'Oh Mother' is Christina's best Aled, what's wrong with it? Yes, I know how Ashlee obsessed you are as well.
January 24, 200916 yr Pretty Please is OK and nothing more, the same for Oh Mother i could never imagine charting neither as high as you have tbh. The Promise is good but just average when i compare to most of their others. GA always go to #1 with the songs that dont deserve too LOL.
January 24, 200916 yr Author The Promise is good but just average when i compare to most of their others. GA always go to #1 with the songs that dont deserve too LOL. Other way round for me, the rest of their output seems so average compared to this, I agree undeserving songs of theirs getting to the top, this is the first one I felt deserved it though. I guess SOTU deserved it compared to One True Voice though and I have a feeling the Cheeky Girls were at #3 that first week they did it too.
January 24, 200916 yr Sound Of The Underground deserved #1, but Walk This Way & I'll Stand By You definatly did not as far as im concerned, even if they were for charity. Love the new siggy by the way.

Love the new siggy by the way. Agreed, their charity records are far from their best. Thanks, I thought it was time to ditch Maria Lawson as she flopped a while ago and I have no idea if this era is gonna continue. In fact, that's not too different to Brandy's story but I'm much more into Brandy at the moment and that song. Adding text to an image is about as creative as I get.

January 24, 200916 yr Author Hi Aaron, I like these so far, looking forward to seeing the top 25 ^_^ Thanks for commenting Damon, nice to see you like a lot. I'll post the next lot in a bit, slow and steady...maybe I'll be done by March. Edited January 24, 200916 yr by Aaron™
January 24, 200916 yr Author 25. Mariah Carey - Bye Bye [13-02-02-01-03-04-05-08-10-13-19-26-35-OUT] [13 wks.] *392* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1774465.JPG Just inside the top 25 then is Mariah Carey with "Bye Bye" which spent one week at the top before being knocked off by, her A-Chart nemesis, Estelle. This is quite obviously designed to be a tear jerker and, well, it works. But it puts a lot of people off this song, I'm not one of them. She's done better ballads before but this is still a very good effort and I love everything about it, right down to the wind sound at the beginning. 24. Ida Maria - I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked [29-20-06-03-01-01-02-06-07-10-15-19-26-34-OUT] [14wks.] *395* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697343092.JPG This was perhaps my surprise #1 of the year. Although she finished 11th in the Sound of 2008 poll I didn't really check her out until Mark sent the excellent "Queen Of The World" to the Buzzjack Song Contest. This song with a ridiculously long title quickly became my favourite of hers and it went to spend two weeks at the top of my chart. Her vocals aren't amazing but I think that's part of her appeal, along with her being a bit wacky. This is the highest Scandinavian song in my chart and that's probably because it's not exactly your typical Scandi-pop. I love the album too but it sits at #21 on my album chart this year. 23. Wideboys ft. Shaznay Lewis - Daddy O [36-25-09-10-14-16-13-18-18-17-16-16-18-18-19-22-28-30-35-39-40-OUT] [21 wks.] *404* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/CDGLOBE863.JPG This is where I begin to wonder if relying completely on the Multichart tool to compile this was the right idea. "Daddy O" is currently in my top 5 longest runners ever on my chart and, while it is the first to pass 400 so far in this countdown, I feel it should be higher. It's one of my top 15 played songs this year too. It really suffered because it only peaked at #9 and spent two weeks in the top 10. I love anything the Wideboys do lately and I've always had a soft spot for Shaznay so it was a hit in my chart, despite Dance being far from my favourite genre, I think this is more Garage/House anyway. (look at me, acting like I have a clue what that is ) 22. The Ting Tings - Shut Up And Let Me Go [32-26-20-14-12-10-04-03-05-05-05-10-15-23-28-37-OUT] [16 wks.] *407* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697328481.JPG The Ting Tings get their highest entry to this with what I consider to be the best song on their album. This had a bit of a slow start, peaking in it's eighth week but that's my fault for charting it a bit too early I think. The video is really good, as is the song. "Shut up and let me go. HEY" etc. 21. Kelly Rowland ft. Travis McCoy - Daylight [27-19-15-05-03-01-02-05-05-10-12-14-18-24-34-40-OUT] [16 wks.] *422* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697288752.JPG When I first heard this was getting released and I listened to it I was quite disappointed initially, but it soon grew and I think this is a great song from my favourite ex-DC member. She has much better in her back catalogue but I don't regret this topping my chart. I'd expect Travis McCoy to ruin this but I think it'd be lacking something if he wasn't on there. I still have a little laugh everytime I hear her saying "It's 5 o'clock am" on this song. 12. Jennifer Hudson - Jennifer Hudson http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/JHUDSONPRE.JPG Highlights: Spotlight, Pocketbook, All Dressed In Love Least Favourite: Jesus Promised Me A Home Over There It's really no surprise that this album is on my list, give me a woman with a big voice and I'll go mad over her and Jennifer Hudson is definitely one of those. This album is full of gems, "Spotlight" being the best, I never expected a download only song with no Radio 1 support to get so far I guess it shows that a really good song can do well no matter what but it was still a huge airplay hit anyway. "Pocketbook" is completely different to "Spotlight" though it's still R&B and putting 'some Luda on it' really works despite Ludacris being someone I wouldn't expect to work with her. The Sex In The City song, "All Dressed In Love", was the first song I ever heard by her and it's the one that sparked my interest in her. Other worthy mentions are the lovely duet with duck-woman Fantasia, "I'm His Only Woman" (think "The Boy Is Mine" but recorded 10 years later), "If This Isn't Love" and the song that got her noticed most "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" which is from Dreamgirls. The only song I don't like so much is "Jesus Promised Me A Home Over There" because songs that are too Jesus/God heavy kinda put me off. I don't mind people choosing to following religion but I'm not a fan of putting it in songs because I think it's nonsense personally. :P
January 24, 200916 yr Bye Bye is bloody horrid and is probably what put me off the album really I Like You So Much Better.. is brilliant, i got into it very late though Daddy O is the chav anthem that never was, a brilliant song that i should have charted higher than #14 and should have done better chart wise. Shut Up & Let Me Go is my fav from The Ting Tings aswell Daylight is my personal fav out of all the Ms Kelly songs Jennifer's album is brilliant but slightly hit & miss for me

Daddy O isn't chavvy. :( I was so disappointed that it did badly in the charts. 'Work' and 'Like This' are wayyy better. I sort of see what you mean with hit and miss but the strong songs really make up for the 'good' ones.

February 1, 200916 yr Author 20. Solange - I Decided [30-10-02-01-03-03-04-06-07-09-13-18-25-28-34-40-OUT] [16 wks.] *423* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1781082.JPG So at #20 is the second and final song from Solange on my countdown. This was the first single taken from the latest album and it's a bit of retro soul with a Freemasons twist. This spent one week at #1 in my chart, it probably should have stayed there a bit longer. Personally I've always found this a bit wintery and "Sandcastle Disco" summery so maybe they should have tried launching her with that instead. I was excited when two versions of this were doing well on iTunes but then it stalled and this was a flop. -_- It deseved so much more but I guess this was a hit compared to the second single and album's success. 19. Britney Spears - Piece Of Me [14-05-02-04-05-02-06-11-12-15-15-18-23-27-33-39-OUT] [16 wks.] *425* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697221762.JPG Another one with her final entry now as "Piece Of Me" finishes highest of Britney's three 2008 singles, though "Womanizer" could have given it a run for it's money if it had charted a few weeks earlier. I think this is certainly a career highlight of Britney, it's just a shame she was at one of her lowest points in her not-so-private life while this was around. It's a well-done response to the constant media attention she receives, if a little heavily synthesised. This just missed out on #1 twice in my chart, which doesn't give much hope for fututre efforts as this is one of her best. 18. Jennifer Hudson - Spotlight [16-18R(5)-11-05-03-02-05-07-09-13-15-23-23-27-32-35-37-31] [18 wks.] *426* http://i35.tinypic.com/2qjbwix.jpg One of the surprise hits of the year and also a 'shoulda been top 10' record. Although this ended up being an airplay #1 I thought it would have been a #41-75 hit after it went digital only and Radio 1 didn't playlist it. This song never gets boring and I feel I should have let it spend more than 6 weeks in my top 10 as it's the longest runner in this batch and it was still on the chart at the time this was taken. I love the "you oughta BE ashamed of yo'self" bit. I hope she has another hit this year, especially after her horrible end to 2008 but also because I think she's extremely talented. 17. Adele - Chasing Pavements [04-03-03-01-02-04-04-05-10-13-19-20-25-28-36-OUT] [15 wks.] *438* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/XLS321CD.JPG Adele with her fourth and final song in this countdown and this was her biggest single, oh how sheep-like of me. :drama: This also spent one week in my chart in 2007 and it's debut at #10 made it one of my highest debuts other than my first chart for quite some time. I have to say, I probably did get a bit excited over Adele at the beginning of the year as I much prefer "Hometwon Glory" now and that only made #2 in my chart. Still, I think this is a very good single from her, shame the generic Basshunter kept her from being #1. 16. Leona Lewis - Better In Time [16-05-01-01-03-05-06-06-07-09-13-17-23-28-31-39-OUT] [16 wks.] *446* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697272002.JPG Ooh another female with her fourth andfinal single now and her first single of the year. (along wth FITS) Gosh, you wouldn't think Leona's had four songs out this year. First we had the double A-side and then two singles released within a few weeks of each other. Yes, I'm still annoyed we didn't get something between BIT/FITS and "Forgive Me". -_- Anyway, this made a good Sport Relief single though I thought she had stronger songs left on the album that she'll likely never release now. Boo Leona! But I love this so it doesn't matter. My chart doesn't seem to show just how much I love Leona as this would have spent slightly longer at #1 if two songs that have yet to come didn't appear. 11. Jordin Sparks - Jordin Sparks http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697296602.JPG Highlights: No Air, Tattoo, Freeze Least Favourite: God Loves Ugly Jordin's album up next. She hasn't had any singles in here, yet she's so high. Well, two of the highlights are still to come. :o Yes, this is technically a 2007 album but I first heard it in 2008 so there. I feel ashamed to have an American Idol winners album, aimed at the kids this high but I love it. "No Air" is immense and "Tattoo" is lovely, both will appear later. This would suggest that the album should be higher if it has two tracks as high as that. Well, I find that the rest of the album doesn't reach the same quality as those tracks. "Freeze" is stunning and "One Step At A Time", "See My Side" and "Just For The Record" are rather good. The rest ranges from very listenable to being a bit blah. "God Loves Ugly" is the one I think of when I have to pick a worst song. It's a nice enough message but I've never been fond of God or Jesus in songs, it's a bit tacky. This was a good debut from her, I look forward to seeing how she progresses on the second album, the new song sounds good enough. ^_^
