February 2, 200916 yr Author 15. M.I.A. - Paper Planes [21-17-14-11-06-03-02-01-01-04-08-14-19-23-28-37-OUT] [16 wks.] *447* http://i37.tinypic.com/8z0mf9.jpg Kicking off the top 15 is M.I.A. with "Paper Planes". If you had told me this would be in my final 15 when I first heard this I would have laughed. I remember thinking that this was rubbish with bad vocals and scary gunshots. Stupid me. Thankfully this was re-released and I paid attention to it. Clearly the gunshots are the best bit and her vocals aren't trying to be good, they don't need to be. This has a slow climb to the top and then it left kinda quickly. There is still a song that took longer to peak though... 14. Janet Jackson - Feedback [40-26-22-19-12-08-07-02-01-02-06-07-12-13-16-20-30-38-OUT] [18 wks.] *457* http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/enduranceben/janetfeed.jpg Speaking of which...here's Janet. "Feedback" is the song that took the longest to first reach it's peak in one run, reaching a peak of #1 in it's ninth week. (Ashlee Simpson took longer if you combine her runs for "Outta My Head") This was definitely a grower, I thought it was just 'alright' when it debuted at #40. Janet always has been very hit and miss with me, I love about 6 of her songs and I think the rest of her songs I've heard are alright but nothing to get excited over. Eventually this managed to be one of those few that I really love. It really is the hit that never was, this whole era flew under the radar. :( But this was the only good song from the album anyway. 13. Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me [14-09-05-02-04-06-07-06-07-09-11-14-16-22-29-36-40-OUT] [17 wks.] *460* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1764472.JPG Oh dear, this song almost feels as old as Madonna now. (LOLKINK) It kinda has a force field around it on my iTunes at the moment, I need to stop myself from killing this further. The occasional time that I do hear it, I remember that it was once fresh and really good. But for now I will leave it alone for a while until I can appreciate it again. I'm just thankful it went under my radar when it first charted or I'd be more tired of this. 12. Alicia Keys - Superwoman [03-02-01-01-02-04-05-06-07-09-13-16-21-30-33-39-OUT] [16 wks.] *464* http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/6687/aliciadu4.jpg "Superwoman" is here at #12. This song hold the record for highest debut to the chart since it started. (excluding re-entries) Strangely I'd never even heard the studio version of this until the video was first shown. I'm a bad person and I managed to download a live version of it so that's the one I know and love. I've linked to the video of it. ^_^ I think this song sounds so much better done live and it's one of my favourite songs now. It did well to spend two weeks at the top of the chart considering this was the fourth single and I had been listening to this for ages. It was always my favourite so I was so happy it got released even though it was a flop. :( 11. Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music [12-07-12-09-06-05-03-06-07-09-09-11-16-19-25-30-OUT] [16 wks.] *470* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1762161.JPG At #11 (and technically in a tie with 10th place!) is a song I don't quite recall bumming as much as I apparently did. Then again, it was a January hit and that's always a quiet time. This has got quite far for a #3 hit and it's the highest song to peak there in this chart. There was a time when I got bored of this, but it's long gone now and I love it again, I'm especially fond of the Wideboys version. I love anything they do it seems, I must find more. Hopefully Rihanna can come back with a killer track better than this to secure an actual top 10 placing this year.
February 2, 200916 yr Touch My Body or American Boy (most likely)? Have i unveiled/revealed the most secret secret? :(
February 2, 200916 yr Author Touch My Body or American Boy (most likely)? Have i unveiled/revealed the most secret secret? :( Maybe, maybe not. Everyone seems to think "American Boy". It may hold the record for longest time spent at #1 but a few songs, including "Daddy O" spent longer in my chart in 2008. :o I'm gonna feedback feedback  I'm heavy like a first day period. ^_^
February 2, 200916 yr 20. Solange - I Decided [30-10-02-01-03-03-04-06-07-09-13-18-25-28-34-40-OUT] [16 wks.] *423* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1781082.JPG So at #20 is the second and final song from Solange on my countdown. This was the first single taken from the latest album and it's a bit of retro soul with a Freemasons twist. This spent one week at #1 in my chart, it probably should have stayed there a bit longer. Personally I've always found this a bit wintery and "Sandcastle Disco" summery so maybe they should have tried launching her with that instead. I was excited when two versions of this were doing well on iTunes but then it stalled and this was a flop. -_- It deseved so much more but I guess this was a hit compared to the second single and album's success. 19. Britney Spears - Piece Of Me [14-05-02-04-05-02-06-11-12-15-15-18-23-27-33-39-OUT] [16 wks.] *425* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697221762.JPG Another one with her final entry now as "Piece Of Me" finishes highest of Britney's three 2008 singles, though "Womanizer" could have given it a run for it's money if it had charted a few weeks earlier. I think this is certainly a career highlight of Britney, it's just a shame she was at one of her lowest points in her not-so-private life while this was around. It's a well-done response to the constant media attention she receives, if a little heavily synthesised. This just missed out on #1 twice in my chart, which doesn't give much hope for fututre efforts as this is one of her best. 18. Jennifer Hudson - Spotlight [16-18R(5)-11-05-03-02-05-07-09-13-15-23-23-27-32-35-37-31] [18 wks.] *426* http://i35.tinypic.com/2qjbwix.jpg One of the surprise hits of the year and also a 'shoulda been top 10' record. Although this ended up being an airplay #1 I thought it would have been a #41-75 hit after it went digital only and Radio 1 didn't playlist it. This song never gets boring and I feel I should have let it spend more than 6 weeks in my top 10 as it's the longest runner in this batch and it was still on the chart at the time this was taken. I love the "you oughta BE ashamed of yo'self" bit. I hope she has another hit this year, especially after her horrible end to 2008 but also because I think she's extremely talented. 17. Adele - Chasing Pavements [04-03-03-01-02-04-04-05-10-13-19-20-25-28-36-OUT] [15 wks.] *438* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/XLS321CD.JPG Adele with her fourth and final song in this countdown and this was her biggest single, oh how sheep-like of me. :drama: This also spent one week in my chart in 2007 and it's debut at #10 made it one of my highest debuts other than my first chart for quite some time. I have to say, I probably did get a bit excited over Adele at the beginning of the year as I much prefer "Hometwon Glory" now and that only made #2 in my chart. Still, I think this is a very good single from her, shame the generic Basshunter kept her from being #1. 16. Leona Lewis - Better In Time [16-05-01-01-03-05-06-06-07-09-13-17-23-28-31-39-OUT] [16 wks.] *446* http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697272002.JPG Ooh another female with her fourth andfinal single now and her first single of the year. (along wth FITS) Gosh, you wouldn't think Leona's had four songs out this year. First we had the double A-side and then two singles released within a few weeks of each other. Yes, I'm still annoyed we didn't get something between BIT/FITS and "Forgive Me". -_- Anyway, this made a good Sport Relief single though I thought she had stronger songs left on the album that she'll likely never release now. Boo Leona! But I love this so it doesn't matter. My chart doesn't seem to show just how much I love Leona as this would have spent slightly longer at #1 if two songs that have yet to come didn't appear. 11. Jordin Sparks - Jordin Sparks http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697296602.JPG Highlights: No Air, Tattoo, Freeze Least Favourite: God Loves Ugly Jordin's album up next. She hasn't had any singles in here, yet she's so high. Well, two of the highlights are still to come. :o Yes, this is technically a 2007 album but I first heard it in 2008 so there. I feel ashamed to have an American Idol winners album, aimed at the kids this high but I love it. "No Air" is immense and "Tattoo" is lovely, both will appear later. This would suggest that the album should be higher if it has two tracks as high as that. Well, I find that the rest of the album doesn't reach the same quality as those tracks. "Freeze" is stunning and "One Step At A Time", "See My Side" and "Just For The Record" are rather good. The rest ranges from very listenable to being a bit blah. "God Loves Ugly" is the one I think of when I have to pick a worst song. It's a nice enough message but I've never been fond of God or Jesus in songs, it's a bit tacky. This was a good debut from her, I look forward to seeing how she progresses on the second album, the new song sounds good enough. ^_^ I Decided is brilliant of course but im really bored of it. Shame it didnt do better :( POM got to #1 for me, one of Brintey's highlights Spotlight is  Chasing Pavements only got to #4 for me :( Should have been a #1 Same for Better In Time :( Jordin's album - I pretty much agree with everything you say there. Shy Boy is  though

I guess any song that mentions having an eye on another guy will suffer that. Paper Planes is the only MIA song i actually like Feedback is good but overated. Janet's fat now as well :( Sweet About Me was brilliant in March, good in May and dull by June Superwoman  Dont Stop The Music is one of the highlights of GGGB That's good, but she has loads of other good ones. I thought you'd like "Jimmy", "Come Around" and maybe "Boyz" at least. It's one of Janet's best and if anything it's under rated because it flopped hideously. Janet is like the perfrect example of a yo-yo. I can't believe it passed me by in March, but now I'm glad it did. I think her first three singles and "Breakin' Dishes" are the highlights, but that's fifth?
