Thou shalt not get bored of the Solange. :( Ooh a Britney song you didn't find over rated!

Actually I love "Shy Boy" now, it's still a bit too camp though. I guess any song that mentions having an eye on another guy will suffer that.

That's good, but she has loads of other good ones. I thought you'd like "Jimmy", "Come Around" and maybe "Boyz" at least.

It's one of Janet's best and if anything it's under rated because it flopped hideously. Janet is like the perfrect example of a yo-yo.

I can't believe it passed me by in March, but now I'm glad it did.

I think her first three singles and "Breakin' Dishes" are the highlights, but that's fifth?

Im so bored of everything but Solange tbh

Gimme More, Piece Of Me & Stronger. After that everything is overated

Everything else has been awful LOL. The O Saya songs wasnt too bad i guess though.

No it's overated on BJ since everyone thought of it as amazing, i myself got bored of it very quickly.

LOL, it was getting quite a lot of videoplay and she promoted it a bit as well so im not sure how most of the forum missed it.

Umbrella, Shut Up & Drive, Breakin Dishses, Dont Stop The Music and Good Girl Gone Bad. Disturbia should have been the lead single off her next album or something i think.

What about her cover of Viva La Vida? Are you bored of that? :(

It hasn't. :(

Oh riiight, well it is amazing. She doesn't have much better than it.

Oh god, doesn't give much hope for VV Brown. (isn't she on the same label?)

Definitely, instead of all the re-issues she just needs the new album to be out.

In the top 10 by the skin of her teeth is Jordin Sparks with "Tattoo". She made it in here because I felt a song that spent 22 weeks on the chart and peaked at #2 deserved it more. It also has the most weeks spent on my chart without going to #1. I know this isn't exactly a unique, innovative song but it's so cute and enjoyable to listen to. It's your typical Stargate production but it's so infectious. This reminds me of my exam period, I remember finishing my exam early and as part of my boredom I started writing the lyrics to this down on the bit of paper with my name on it. I don't think I did too well in that exam, probably because I had Jordin Sparks in my head that whole time instead of the subject of the exam. So yeah, don't listen to Jordin Sparks during exam periods.

10. Michelle Williams - Unexpected
http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/MWILLIAMSPRE.JPG
Highlights: We Break The Dawn, Stop This Car, Hello Heartbreak
Least Favourite: Too Young For Love
Starting off the top 10 albums is the most under rated girl from Destiny's Child. I think this was the best release (or re-release) from any of the girls this year but as she's the one with no career it's the biggest flop, by far, of them. It's called "Unexpected" because she usually does gospel music so an album of dance-R&B that Rihanna would be jealous of was a completely different direction for her solo career. (speaking of Rihanna, Michelle did a lovely cover of "Don't Stop The Music" recently ) I always had a soft spot for her in the DC days so I was excited to hear that she was doing an album of, well, better songs in 2008. "We Break The Dawn" was perfect lead single, which finished in my year end top 40, the flop was so unjust. "Hello Heartbreak" is in a similar vein to the track I just mentioned but more upbeat and instant. I was loving "Stop This Car" since someone showed me a snippet of it on Youtube long before the album came out, it's more of a ballad than the other tracks I've mentioned but it's not bland at all, it's rather cute. Other great tracks are "Unexpected", "The Greatest" and "Sick Of It", the remixes of "We Break The Dawn" are hot too. I don't dislike any songs on here but if I had to pick one it would be "Too Young For Love" because it doesn't really suit her in my opinion, I think it'd be a good track for Jordin Sparks or someone. (not a bad thing, just they're different kind of artists) Overall, it's a good package and should have done so much more for her, she needs to finally break through.

What about her cover of Viva La Vida? Are you bored of that?

Not heard her version of Viva La Vida, shall give it a listen.

It really doesnt. The Sugababes, VV Brown, Gabriella and anyone else decent need to leave Island immindatly since they generally tend to screw up everyones career.

Oh definatly, i've said it before and i'll say it again, she need to f*** off, im sick of the sight of her tbh.

Tattoo is fantastic but im suprised anyone would have it in their top 10 end of year, it's the type of songs that just about finishes inside your top 40 EOY like it did in mine (#40).

Michelle's album is brilliant aswell. Agreed with you on the best tracks.

I really need to finish my EOY chart, hopefully i'll update it tonight.

It's quite good I think. ^_^

Yeah, Island sucks. I thought they were meant to be good.

Me too, she needs a single out soon - she's almost gonna be out of the top 40 for the first time in about a year. :o

Hmm...I guess, it's just has a few memories with me and I never got bored of it so I just love it.

I've just been listening to the album again, maybe it should be higher...

Yeah, hurry up and announce Ashlee as the winner already. :P

It's doubtful I think, Ashlee will do the double.

LOL, be quiet please.

No one is commenting on my EOY chart though so i doubt anyone cares.

I don't think anyone cares about mine either, I'm mostly doing this for please myself. (though I'm sure you're just dying to see which song is my #1)

Of course you haven't. ;)

09. Mariah Carey - Touch My Body [12-03-02-02-01-02-01-02-03-06-11-18-23-28-32-35-39-40-OUT] [18 wks.] *478*

I remember being so clueless when this first leaked, everyone was listening to it but I didn't even know it was out there yet. :( So then I went on a mission to find it and when I first listened to it I couldn't help myself from laughing, but I just had to keep listening. This essentially sums up the song. It's a bit of a novelty, fun, but addictive song that you just have to listen to. Youtube references, invitations to wrestle her around and putting her on like a brand new white tee all make this appeal to me. I felt it was fresh for a big diva not taking herself too seriously but later on in the era it would be her not taking her career seriously that would make this a disaster era. This was heading to be a huge #1 in my chart, but then a song from an artist I'd never heard of (Estelle) came out of nowhere to become one of my fiercest chart battles. They would later clash again with "Bye Bye" and "No Subtitute Love".

09. Britney Spears - Circus
http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697407752.JPG
Highlights: Rock Me In, Womanizer, If U Seek Amy, Amnesia
Least Favourite: My Baby
Well, I'd be out of place if I didn't have Britney on my list, so here she is at #9. I'm gonna start with the standard "wtf at the tracklist" comment. Things like "Amnesia", "Rock Me In" and "Phonography" should have made it on over weaker tracks like "My Baby" and "Blur". I was surprised to see that she has co-written some songs on this album but then I realised she's done some writing on most of her albums. I think the best song on here she is credited for is "Mmm Papi" which is far from genius lyrically but it's a nice fun song. In terms of actual good songs I think "Amnesia" is the best song on the album but I think I prefer "Womanizer" and "If U Seek Amy" in terms of catchiness, which is what has got Britney this far. My favourite as an overall package is bonus track "Rock Me In". It's just very now and was instantly the most catchy track to me. It reminds me of something in places, maybe "The Fear" by Lily Allen which is a good thing. "Radar" is actually the best song on the album but it's a "Blackout" track that was tacked on to the album so it doesn't really count. I also like a bit of "Lace and Leather" which is a nice bouncy track to listen to. Really though, I think this is quite a full package with only a few weak tracks, "Unusual You", "Kill The Lights" and "Out From Under" are all very good as well.

08. Mary J. Blige - Just Fine [25-23-12-03-02-02-03-03-04-05-08-08-12-14-17-23-30-39-OUT] [18 wks.] *505*

At #8 is the first song to break 500 points and the highest song that peaked at #2 in my countdown. This is now my favourite Mary J. Blige song, it just narrowly betters "Be Without You" and "As", it's so catchy. This is a song all about being content, her life's just fine and she doesn't have any intent of changing it. I think this song is either in the category of amazing or annoying as I can imagine the "fine fine fine fine fine fine oooh" bit could grate, though it doesn't on me. For some reason it seems much longer than a year ago when I was really into this, it feels like it's been around for ages. It's a shame this was the only successful single from the era, I didn't think she had much else good on the album but it would have been good if "Stay Down" was a hit too.

08. P!nk - Funhouse
http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697406922.JPG
Highlights: So What, Glitter In The Air, Please Don't Leave Me
Least Favourite: One Foot Wrong
P!nk came back and she was as good as ever in 2008. This album is one of the highlights of her career in my opinion, being kicked off with the best song "So What" gave her a good start to the album in the UK and it became one of my favourite P!nk songs very quickly."Sober" was a decent second single but perhaps not the best choice, it could be a bit of a downer compared to the first single which (on the surface) is quite a feel-good song. I'd have rather seen "Bad Influence" or maybe even "Funhouse" released second so the change wasn't too drastic. Another one of my favourites is "Glitter In The Air" which is a beautiful under stated track. "Have you ever been touched so gently you had to cry?" love it so much. "Please Don't Leave Me" is also one of my favourites, it has moments that remind me of my personal favourite from her, "Who Knew". I'm glad it was picked as the next single but after "Sober" I'm not so sure about it's chances. A song as good as this shouldn't flop but who knows? "I Don't Believe You" is so emotional and has quite a stripped back feel to it, this also became one of my favourites easily. The rest of this album is the sort of songs you'd typically expect from P!nk, but that's not a bad thing. The only weak links would be "One Foot Wrong" and "This Is How It Goes Down" but they're still alright. P!nk is going to be the first artist I ever see live in May when she tours this album. I'm scared and excited.

Touch My Body is OK for a Mariah song i guess. Loving You Long Time was brilliant though. Love MJB in general and this is definalty one of her best.

Circus is overated and to a degree so is Funhouse, but the later is still a brilliant album.

"Touch My Body" is better than "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time". but the Designer Drugs remix of the latter is better than "Touch My Body".

"Circus" probably is over rated, that's why it's not my #1. It is good though.

Next on the list is Duffy with what I consider her best song. It's now on the slightly overplayed list and it got a bit overexposed on radio and on M&S ads but if you ignore that it's still a very good song and deserving of the attention it got. When I first got the album this actually took a while to grow on me. I'd listen to it, forget how it went, listen to it, forget how it went etc. but in the end it would be impossible for me not to remember how it went. This reminds me a lot of turning 18 because it was my birthday #1 for my chart and I could have worn out my CD from playing it so much around that time! Basically it's just a nice, mellow, song to chill out to.

06. P!nk - So What [19-11-08-04-03-01-01-01-05-06-09-12-19-21-22-24-28-33-33] [19 wks.] *518*

Last year I think my love of P!nk exploded, I actually bought "I'm Not Dead" for the first time early last summer which got me into the album tracks and the singles even more so I was really excited for this to leak. The night it leaked I was a bit disappointed, I didn't really get the sadder undertones of this song and thought it was quite "woo, I'm a rockstar, let's party" like one of my least favourite tracks from her, "Get This Party Started". But after a few listens I finally realised that it was actually quite good and now I think it's second only to "Who Knew" to being my favourite P!nk song. This song, and her album, made me decide that she should be the first act I ever see live it's that good.

07. Santogold - Santogold
http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/SANTOGOLDCD.JPG
Highlights: You'll Find A Way, L.E.S. Artistes, Lights Out
Least Favourite: Anne
Here at #7 is Santogold's self-titled debut. At the beginning of this countdown this was my #5 album but I decided I liked the two below it a bit more, so here it falls. Buying this album was a bit of an impulse decision for me, I was in HMV with leftover birthday money to burn and saw this at £5.99 and thought that seemed good, and it really was. Oviously everyone knows "L.E.S. Artistes" and it's amazingness, despite it's low position on my countdown it really is one of the best sogns of last year. Then there's my favourite, "You'll Find A Way" that I sent to the BJSC and finished 11th with, you'll either find it instantly catchy or instantly annoying - hopefully the former. "Lights Out" is a delight to listen to and different to the rest of the album, being the most commercial on there so I don't know how it flopped. Another worthy mention is "Say Aha" which was another single, I didn't chart it though as I thought it got cancelled but apparently it didn't, it just made no impact at all. Oops. "We think you're a joke, shove your hope where it don't shine", "Shove It" is also a great song and worth a listen. Everyone will know "Creator" from the advert and, while it's a good song, I wouldn't rate it as one of the best or the worst. It's obviously catchy but it seems to be missing something for me. I've picked out "Anne" as my least favourite because it can be a bit dull sometimes. Overall it's an enjoyable album though.

06. Solange – Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams
http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1781756.JPG
Highlights: Sandcastle Disco, I Decided (Part 2), Cosmic Journey
Least Favourite: This Bird
Before BJSC VII I didn't really know of her existence, I just know she did backing vocals on a Kelly Rowland song I like. But since then I've been obsessed with her. I'm one of the few who actually bought her album that reached the heights of #180. :( "Sandcastle Disco" and "I Decided" have both been in my countdown already so I've already said why I like them so much. They're definitely some of the best songs I heard in 2008. "Cosmic Journey" was also the first song lasting over 6 minutes that I really enjoyed listening to, I usually get far too bored. There's just something about it, maybe the slow start and the gradual build up and increased speed. It's just something so unusual that you'd never see from Beyoncé. "God Given Name" opens up the album and it's a very nice track however, the Soulshock & Karlin version from the "I Decided" B-side is so much better. "T.O.N.Y." is also another highlight, she's been quite clever with her single choices it just seems that the world doesn't want Solange, they'd trather have her sister and her album of two halves. (and I'm not talking the two discs, the good few tracks and the crap that is the rest) "Valentine's Day" is another favourite of mine, I find her voice so sexy on most of her songs but it's particularly hot when she says "You know what kind of gifts I give baby". :kink: [/ho] In fact it'd be easier to mention the tracks I'm not so keen on and they are "This Bird" and "ChampagneChronikNightCap" the first is because it's a 6 minute song that isn't as good as "Cosmic Journey", quite skippable and the second is just a bit forgettable. Overall a very underrated album, it's one of the better new 'retro' albums released in a while.

Only five singles and five albums left now, they're probably not so hard to predict. :heehee:
