Posted January 6, 200916 yr Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor is planning on launching a solo career. Corey, who is also in a second band Stone Sour, has reportedly already recorded 40 songs for his first solo album. "It's something that I'd like to do purely for myself," he told The Daily Record. "It's something that I need to release before I can think about moving on to anything else. "In both Slipknot and Stone Sour I'm slightly limited to how I can write and indeed what I can write about. The beauty of doing a solo album is that I can write whatever type of song I want." Slipknot reached number two when they released their fourth studio album All Hope Is Gone in August 2008. I reckon this could be better than Stone Sour tbh, but proberly not Slipknot.
January 6, 200916 yr I find solo Rock/Punk/Metal tracks are rather shit in comparison to the music which they make with the band. But we'll have to wait and find out.
January 7, 200916 yr Why have a solo career if Corey has Stonesour and Slipknot? Edited January 7, 200916 yr by funmaker11
January 7, 200916 yr Author Why have a solo career if Corey has Stonesour and Slipknot? because he feel's he is limited, and he wants to get his own stuff out, a complete solo effort rather than writing as a band.
January 7, 200916 yr because he feel's he is limited, and he wants to get his own stuff out, a complete solo effort rather than writing as a band. If only I can do that. If you know the former Nightwish frontman, she's solo now.
January 7, 200916 yr Author If only I can do that. If you know the former Nightwish frontman, she's solo now. lol. but yeah i do know, not a Nightwish fan myself, not my sort of metal. Im pretty sure Corey isnt going solo forever, although i dont think Slipknot plan another album.
January 14, 200916 yr Author Corey speaks: As Slipknot prepares to hit the road for tours celebrating the 10th anniversary of the masked Iowa group's first album, frontman Corey Taylor is making plans to record his first solo album rather than go back to his other band, Stone Sour, at the end of the cycle. "I know I have this album that I need to make," Taylor tells Billboard.com, "and I'm the kind of guy that if I can't get that done then it's going to hold me back from all this other stuff I want to do. I just know I've got to make it or I can't branch out." He adds that there are "a lot of songs I've written that don't fit with either band, really" and describes the material as "kind of a cross between the Foo Fighters and Social D, with some Johnny Cash mixed in." Country will be part of the mix -- "Obviously there's a country background that comes built-in with living in Iowa," Taylor notes -- but he also promises that "there's a lot of upbeat, just flat-out hard rock tunes." "I've never let myself get painted into a corner," Taylor explains. "I've refused to accept the fact that I can't make any kind of music I want. I think it took people a minute to understand that, but now I'm at a point where I can do anything and people will take it seriously." But until September, when Slipknot is scheduled to finish touring, Taylor says he's seriously committed to the group, which is continuing to tour in support of its fourth album, last year's "All Hope Is Gone." a mix of Johnny Cash, Social Distortion and Foo Fighters, sounds good to me.
January 14, 200916 yr Author I can't think if he can get any success from that. It's not really about success though it's more about what he needs to do personally before he can move on to making more music. Although i can see it being successful just because of it being Corey Taylor, especially after the success of 'All Hope Is Gone'.
January 14, 200916 yr If you know the former Nightwish frontman, she's solo now. She didn't really have any choice though.... The band kicked her out for her "diva"-like behaviour..... So, she's like the Power-Metal version of Mariah Carey......  Only a LOT more talented obviously....... I quite liked "My Winter Storm"... As for Nightwish's new girl, Anete... Well, it took me a HELL of a long time to warm to her, but recently I listened to "Dark Passion Play" again after basically refusing to listen to it for ages out of initial disappointment, she's a good singer, just very different to Tarja..... And it just clicked with me in a way that it didn't before..... I've now gone and bought a ticket for Nightwish's London show in March..... As for Corey solo... Could be interesting.... I thought Serj Tankian and Daron Malakian (System of a Down) both put out very good "solo" albums over the past couple of years..... I like Slipknot and Stonesour aint bad either.....
