the Japanese Pop Superstar is back with a new english album. The english follow-up to the fantastic Exodus

'Come Back To Me' goes for radio adds on mainstream radio feb. 9th in the US. I don't think there's any word on a UK release just yet.

it sounds v. much like an r&b ballad :o not what I was expecting from her at all. I love it, if programmers give it a chance it could do well. :arrr:

it's streaming here: mms://wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/utadcome.wma

Nice, I love Utada. The new track sounds good, and apparently she has been working on tracks with Stargate, so it looks like she's going all out R&B...
Hence the R&Bish nature of this song, I'm gonna move this to the R&B forum.

R&B? Please... it's pop. It should be moved to Pop.

Great song, her vocals are quite sublime. Turn it from something borderline generic to something really pretty good. I hope it takes off at radio. She'll struggle because she's an unknown (and because she's oriental) but it's SO the sort of thing POP (!) radio in the US would eat up normally...

I think it's extremely poor tbh. Though I've never loved her english work tbh. Exodus '04 is lush though.
Exodus '04 is AMAZING. At their best J-pop artists are untouchable.
Are you talking about the track or the album? I loved the whole album personally.
Well the album was just called Exodus and the song Exodus 04 :P So the song!
Sorry. Thing is the song was originally just called Exodus too, at least on the US album (which I have)... I even loved Easy Breezy (it's actually a really sarky and ironic lyric).

1. On And On

2. Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI

3. Apple And Cinnamon

4. Taking My Money Back

5. This One (Crying Like A Child)

6. Automatic Part II

7. Dirty Desire

8. Poppin’

9. Come Back To Me

10. Me Muero

Disappointed by the cover. Cheap and unimaginative, but I'm pretty hyped for the album. 4 songs are Tricky Stewart and 6 Stargate.

Come Back To Me is actually starting to do okay at radio :heehee: Much better than 'Eat You Up' anyway. Today's update:

AI: 0.420m (+0.050m from yday)

Spins: 176 (+24 from yday)

Not bad. It has a +70 bullet on Pop.

Wow, it would be so awseome if it charted in the US. I guess track 2 samples Ryuichi Sakamoto?

And is track 10 in Spanish? :o

Really good, yeah! Damn I hope this is a US hit. It has a shot. Is it charting on radio or anywhere yet?
It's gaining quite well at radio. Still small figures, but growing rapidly... 0.987m audience impressions this week.
Ooh, not bad. I hope it can break mainstream in one market or another. The fact that Asian artists ALWAYS chart on dance (BoA - Eat You Up was top 10 on Billboard Club Play) shows that the mainstream american music industry is bigoted, if not outright racist.

Now out May 12th in the US, giving the single more time to grow. Good decision. Still out next week in Japan though, so it'll leak.

Anyway two clips are out! FYI and Dirty Desire - CLICK. Both sound REALLY great. A minimum of three good songs already means more than there were on Exodus. :P

You can watch it at the link though! These two tracks sound great, if a bit generic. Expect I'll be getting this album anyway...
I like the video, it makes the song seem a lot more than it actually is [generic as hellという意味です lol.] Utada used to be an incredible artist. She's still okay, But I am pretty indifferent to her nowadays. Thanks to her track "First Love" I got into JPop, so I always keep up with what she's up to.
